1:18:39 AP 10:29 What a beautiful, BEAUTIFUL run this morning. I was able to run later in the sun (since Jeff is home today) which was heavenly. I called Lysa and asked if I could run with her and then talked her ear off. Thanks so much LYSA. It's so gorgeous out there today and having her company, it just made for a great start to this new year, first run of 2012. I left her around mile 6 something and ran to my sister's cause I didn't want to go home yet. She wasn't there so I just got a drink and ran home. Slow pace but there were lots of hills. I walked/ran up the back of flat iron cause it's stink'in steep! I also ran 8 miles on Sat. and am still sore from that. AND, I didn't care about running fast I just wanted to run forever today.
3 sets of plank. 1min30, 1min15 and 1min.

1:08:24 AP 10:13 Left at 6:15am and ran with Deb and her dog Hobbes. I need to start getting up early again and getting it done. Josie isn't taking her nap as well and I have to check on her every 20 min or so that she's awake to make sure she hasn't taken off her diaper! (Yes she took off a poopy diaper last week and tried to clean herself with wipes. Then she set the dirty diaper and wipes she had used in the big Costco diaper box that's in her room. So she did try to do it as neatly as possible. Hello, she turned 2 in August! There are more stories but I'll spare you. She's trying to potty train herself, I'm not quite ready. I've never had a kid do this). Anyway, great run. slow again but lots of hills. Great conversation. i'm tired of running alone.

I ran at 2pm today since Jeff is home. Run started out great and planned on 4 around both parks. It was warm out. I'm not used to running this time of day. At the last half mile I started getting sharp pains on my right side and had to walk home. What? That doesn't happen to me very often:( Kind of sad I had to walk the last hill but...it just killed when I ran. Had pretty good splits for running hills till I had to walk. I'm super dang sore from power yoga yesterday. Kicked my butt.

58:12 AP 9:42 because I ran such a slow last 1/2 mile. 8:45am Drove up to the bottom of Little Cottonwood with Lysa and ran home. It was COLD at first coming down the canyon but warmed up later. We ran down 94th and turned somewhere that took us past Granite Elementary and over by dimple dell and then down home. It really warmed up on Highland where we ran in the sun. Felt SO good! Super fun run with Lysa in the SUN since I have people home to take care of Josie. Thanks Lysa. The last .5 was after we got back from picking up her car and I was hobbling cause my feet and legs were sore. I guess from yoga and maybe I need new shoes. Doing yoga either today or tomorrow. Will add it later if I end up doing it today.

| | 7 very slow, and hilly miles. I left around 8am and the weather was perfect. Cloudy and around 40 degrees. For some reason my head started pounding as soon as I started running. I was just hoping it would go away but it never did. At mile 4/5 I saw blue sky and the sun starting coming out. Then my last mile the wind started and a storm was coming from the north. I also ran my steepest hill and was just crawling up it. Despite the headache, and wind I had a great time. This weather is amazing for January!

Very nice weather this morning!
Did the newcastle, buffalo, key bank, Ashley's house, Peruvian park and home run. Flat, up, flat, down, up, flat, up a little and down a little and finished up. I have to say that the snow frosted buffalo looked beautiful with the snow all around in the yard and the snow covered mountains behind with the sun coming up. Not sure if I'm doing yoga today or tomorrow.

6am with Deb and Hobbes. We ran over to Petunia where Highland ends there and on to the sand trail on our way to Dimple Dell trail(s). I don't know exactly where we entered ddtrail but we went through some gate and started running up. It was SO COLD this morning. I did not dress warm enough. It was so pretty up toward the top where we could see the outline of the mountains as the sun rose. We started down the longest, steepest hill that goes toward the trail head and it was covered in frozen snow. Deb wanted to turn around. I thought it might be fun to just sit and slide down it but my butt was already freezing so we turned back and ran back down the trail. Gorgeous view coming down of temples and city. Where there wasn't snow and ice the trail was very cold and crisp and hard to run on. I'm also not used to trails. I'm gonna be super sore from the 10 combined with trail running. It was fun though and I love that kind of soreness!:) We ran back home and I was at 8.3 when I dropped her at home and I ran around the hood to finish. Felt great to get it done early! Hot shower felt so good. Didn't want to get out. Don't think I've run 10 since SGM. Woo hoo!

Waited around this morning for comcast and then for rc willey to deliver a new couch. It's so pretty and smells so new. Our other couch was falling apart. Didn't get out till 1pm and this will be one of my last runs in the day since Jeff goes back to work next week. I think it was around 44 degrees. I was windy at points but overall just beautiful. I tried to run on the fast side because I didn't want it to rain on my new Ghost 4's! I've never worn these and I LOVE them! It's between my launch and my glycerin. Little more support than the launch but not so deep and cushy as the glycerin, I feel closer to the road. Anyway, it never rained and I was happy!!! I want my shoes to stay clean and new as long as possible. I was one of those junior high kids who freaked out if anyone ever stepped on my NEW WHITE KEDS! They needed to stay super white and new as long as possible. So, great run and when I was tired and trying to push it the last mile my fave Mat Kearney song "Hey Mama" came and pushed to the end when my new favorite song came on to push me to the very last second. "MY BODY TELLS ME NO, BUT i WON'T QUIT, CAUSE I WANT MORE!!!" Awesome run! Plank x3 at 1:30, 1:15 and 1:00

39:11 AP 9:48 I didn't think I'd be able to run today but how could I NOT? This weather is A-MA-ZING! I put Josie to bed and left Sydney in charge and took my phone. I wore capri tights and my SGM shirt. I'm so glad I traded for a men's medium so I can pull the sleeves over my hands. Beautiful blue sky, beautiful white mountains and warm temps!!! I ran around both parks. I tried to smile while I ran today. I read Steam 8's blog about smiling and I decided to try it. I think I looked dorky. I think it comes naturally for her and she looks great smiling while running. I did it anyway. I smiled and said hi to everyone I saw, and there were a lot of people out, not a lot of runners. I get excited when I see other runners and always say hi. I don't understand how someone can be running toward you pretend to not notice you and not say hi. Really? While running around Falcon I saw a guy running barefoot on the path and I said hi and he didn't. whatever.Still trying to smile, but then I got really annoyed. Of course there are a ton of people with dogs and I try to be patient and calm (don't like 'em, I've been bit a few times and chased after). I am respectful of other people with or without dogs and try to look ahead, switch sides of the path if I need to to make room for whoever is coming. So, today there was I think a mom and her two older daughters each walking there own little yappy dog, ( So 3 dogs) taking up the ENTIRE path. They totally see me coming but don't make eye contact do not move their little doggies one inch to make room for me so I run on the grass. So here's why I don't like to run onto the grass, a few minutes later, I do run on to the grass to make room for a stroller and four people trying to pass and I barely miss a big pile of DOG CRAP ! Blah!!! I come around the loop and practically get run over by barefoot running guy who is sprinting! I think I totally got in his way and of course I didn't try to say hi. Then comes the three ladies with the three dogs taking up the entire path again and they see me coming AGAIN for a good 20 feet and I'm way over to the left thinking MOVE YOUR STINK'IN DOG and she would not budge so I knocked her over as I ran by:) No, I didn't I just squeezed through and said "GEEZ!" Some people! There are some dog owners who are very respectful and I really appreciate them. Once on the JRP and once on the trail up to la caille I had owners who made their big, scary dogs SIT out of the way while I ran by. Wow. Thank you so much! These are two opposite extremes and most people in general, with dogs, are respectful and tighten the leash on the dogs and move over. Anyway, beautiful day! Just kicked the kids go out and play cause I can't get over how nice it is. Plank X3 for 2min, 1:30, 1min -Holy freak that extra 30 secs makes a huge diff! Ouch.

| |
| | JM's 30 day Shred levels 2 and 3- 50 minutes
| |
| | 1:01:45 AP 10:18 4 slow miles and 2 fast. I decided to run up the trail to La Caille and back down. Left around 1:50pm. Only a few more days till I'll have to get up at dawn to run again. It'll be good cause I need to start yoga again which I usually do while Josie naps and I'm all alone in the house:) Anyway, as I got to the trail and started running on snow (I thought of that scene from Man from Snowy River when they play the pretty music as the wild horses run through the snow patch) it quickly turned to many mud puddles I had to walk around to not ruin my precious new shoes. I decided to turn around and had to tiptoe around em all again. Next time I'll wear old shoes to run up there if it's anytime soon. I don't know what I was expecting. So that brought my average way down. Tried to run home fast. I saw Soyer and Oliver walking home from school and gave them high fives.
It was beautiful and sunny (except on the trail) and I just can't believe this weather! So crazy! Now I'm sore from my jump training and too many plank moves yesterday.

56:50 AP 9:28 Great running weather! Went at 1:50pm. It was overcast so I glowed in my neon green/yellow jacket. Sprinkled a tiny bit at one point. Plank X3 @ 2min, 1:30 and 1:00. Ouchiness. Especially if I don't rest long enough in between. Took my 14 yr old to instacare this morn. She's been tumbling and cheering on a broken toe (she kicked the couch on Sunday) all week. Oops. Should have taken her sooner. They buddy taped it and she's in a black shoe support thingy. Have to see an ortho specialist next week.

48:52 AP 9:47 Weird day. I was so TIRED and annoyed and wasn't going to run. I took a nap instead. Then Jeff got home from running 6 miles and said "You need to go out there. The sun is out." So I did. It was 53 degrees when I left at 3:30pm. BEAUTIFUL blue skies, sunny, white mountains. Such amazing Feb weather. I said that to a few people I smiled at while running past "isn't this weather amazing!" So my left foot was hurting the entire run. It's been hurting all week. I think it's the PF hurt. I need to look back through my blogs and see which foot was hurting when I bought my chacos in the summer. So I've been wearing the chacos all week when not running but today it really hurt. Is it the ghost 4's or just time to have PF? ugh. Maybe when I start doing yoga again next week it'll get better. I didn't think I'd have a problem with the ghost 4's cause I've worn the glycerins and launches and this shoes is supposed to be something in between the two. The PF was worse as I ran uphill and I ran both parks so...I also started feeling nauseous and my stomach was in knots the last 1.5 mile BUT I was so happy I got out of bed and got out to run!

1:03:00 AP 10:30 Ran at 6:30 with Deb and Hobbes. 22 degrees out. I wore my fleece jacket and alaska gloves and stayed warm. She hasn't run for 2 wks and I've been a slacker so we ran slow. I rolled my ankle during the first mile and totally slipped but did not fall on my last mile. The sun was rising already when we started and during the 4th mile while running west (down Falcon) we saw the sun light on the west mountains. BEAUTIFUL. There was some pink and purple too. I ran her home around mile 5 and ran another mile. It was an up, down, up, flat run. Made german pancakes, bacon, fruit and oj for the family breakfast this holiday. I'm trying to be good so I ate dave's killer toast, with some pb and apple.

I woke up at 3am to the sound of power going out and house rattling wind. I'm pretty sure I was awake until around 5am. It is so NOISY in our master bedroom when there's a wind episode going on outside. The walls shake and rattle (2 story) I can hear the garage door crackling back and forth and a bunch of noise from the swamp cooler. Ugh. Then 2 of my kids woke. They ended up sleeping together on their top bunk with a flashlight. I didn't want them in my bed cause I had to get up and run. I was jolted awake again when the power came back on around 6:45am.
I went to my sister's at 7:15 and we ran 3 miles out and back from her house. She's just getting back into running. She ran a fast first mile, we had a tailwind and it was pretty warm, sun was shining. We turned around and coming back was harder. Major headwind. Anyway, she only walked from 2.0-2.20 so she did awesome!!! We sprinted at the end. Good job Ash! I drove home and ran more around home. Sun was shining bright and I could hear birds chirping every so often when the wind quieted. Ran with a tailwind until the last half mile with a brutal headwind. gotta love it. There were some loose huskies out this morning. They were beautiful and I wondered if a gate was blown open somewhere cause I don't think they were supposed to be out running free. HERE is why I'm so nervous (have been bit twice and growled at plenty) around dogs and watching this didn't help. They actually show her getting bit. This scares me so bad.

It was so nice to get out this morning. Sun was rising and the weather was nice. Unfortunately my left foot just won't quit hurting! #*!@!!! I wanna cry. BK Power Yoga-52 minutes No better motivation to lose weight than trying to hold side plank (straight arm, straight legs) 8 lbs heavier than last yr. I'm on my way down. I'm on my way back. I even put my marathon necklace back on today:) I'm back baby and I'm going all the way this time! I'm on my second day of eating clean and I'm just doing yoga every day. I want to let my foot heel and when I start running again it'll be in a different pair of shoes. Hopefully the combination of new shoes, less weight and rest will put me back in the running saddle again.

if you are going to win any battle you have to do one thing. You have
to make the mind run the body. Never let the body tell the mind what to
do. The body will always give up. It is always tired in the morning,
noon, and night. But the body is never tired if the mind is not tired. -George S. Patton

Will try spinning at the rec center tomorrow morning. i'm scared. I've done it once and hated it.
5th day in a row of clean eating. Must make it through the weekend. I know I can, I know I can...Even celebrating my Dad's 75th b-day tonight at my house with all the adults in my family. I have to be strict now and will reintroduce dessert once a week when I reach my goal. And when I start running again:)
I know I can...
|
| | SPIN! for an hour at the rec center. SO freak'in tough! I did it once a few years ago and never went back. Today was good. I forgot it was St. Patrick's Day and didn't wear green but I just painted my left hand nails green so I'm safe now. Anyway, the music was St. Patty's day themed so we rode to Enya, U2 and Riverdance! It was fun! when we finished spinning the teacher asked how I liked it and I said "I thought running was hard!" The other spinners complimented my by telling me I didn't act like a beginner and I must be an athlete:) Said most beginners don't stand up on their first day. I just did everything the teacher did and my heart rate soared. I'm already sore and will be tomorrow for sure. My cardio has suffered since I stopped running. I should have started spinning sooner. BK Power Yoga-52 minutes HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY!

SPIN! 6am at the rec center. The teacher today was the "student" (for lack of better word) who paid me a compliment on Sat. I didn't know she taught spinning. She's a cute, little lady and I don't know how she gets her legs to spin that fast. amazing! The workout was awesome. I didn't realize there were so many different and fun ways to get a great workout (intervals) on a bike. I'm loving this spin class! I also didn't realize my upper body would be sore after spinning Sat. core too. You work everything. I signed up for a sprint triathlon. I've never done a tri. I don't know what I'm thinking. And it's in 2 weeks. SHAC tri in St. George. I was drawn because my best friend is coming from Vegas to do it and because I'm still trying to rest my left foot so I'm planning on spinning and swimming till the race. My foot feels (almost) fine I'm just being extra careful. Fun to do something different for a change. Now I have a goal and I'm not so depressed about not running lately.Woo!

(400 yards=16 lengths, 8 laps and I'm assuming this pool is a 25 yard pool) Front crawl and breaststroke. 400 yards once should be fine. I just have to try racing it sometime before the race.
Awesome! Love swimming!
Bryan Kest Power yoga-52minutes Oh, on the drive home the sun was rising and the moon was so beautiful right over the mountains. Just a clipped thumbnail sliver of a moon.

| | JM Banish Fat/Boost Metabolism-50 minutes. I seriously can barely catch my breath at some points in this workout. You definitely get out as much as you put in. Love those burpies, mountain climbers and plank walk-ups! Not to mentions high knees and jump squats. I was able to do the single leg weight bearing exercises without left foot pain today too! After my workout I looked outside as the sun was rising. It was beautiful! White mountains, bright blue sky and pink clouds slowly moving by. I'll be back out there soon!!!

| | 10am (1 hr)Power Pump class at rec center. Yes! 10am because middle schoolers are out of school today so I have babysitters! My foot felt fine after running up flat iron hill while carrying Josie to soccer game Sat. so I tried running today. 3 miles on the TM and it feels like a slight bruise but isn't painful. Feels SOOOO good to run! There's NOTHING like it! I ran 5.5, 5.8 and 6.0. took about 32 minutes I think.

3 miles in 30 minutes outside. No music, no garmin. I wanted to take it easy and listen to my foot. Just feels like a bruise now. It was cold but I dressed just right and it was BEAUTIFUL! The birds were singing away. So good to be OUTSIDE RUNNING again! My butt and hammies are sore from that weights class yesterday.

44:22 AP 9:52 It was cold but beautiful. Not a cloud in the sky as the sun rose, and the birds sang. It's great to be outside! My foot felt good. I almost got hit crossing the intersection on the way home. It was my fault but, they did change the way those lights turn at that intersection and it threw me off. I was almost hit by speeding cars coming up a hill. They honked at me. The light had just turned red for cars going north and I thought I had missed my chance for a green walker as I pushed the button. I didn't see any cars and thought it was safe. Didn't realized it was still green for cars heading south. I just got through telling my 14 yr old yesterday to always be careful as a pedestrian because cars don't always see you. I had just read the article about the teen who was hit and killed walking his bike through a crosswalk. I will be more careful. Scary.

48:15 AP 9:39 I slept in so I thought I'd only run 4. I set out to run around both parks and as I was running down to Falcon, I heard Betsy yelling at me. She had run 10 and wanted to run a few more with me (she's training for Wasatch 100). I ran back up the hill and we ran her dog home. I don't mind running alone but it's nice to have company and she did push me. I thought I would run slow cause my foot was a little stiff at first but it loosened up and felt fine after a while. I was happy to see that AP for all the hills we ran. We did end up running both parks. Beautiful morning! I did not do yoga yesterday. I'm planning on it today and will add when it's done. SOOOOOO excited for spring break!!! Power YOGA! 52 minutes

| | 1:56:37 AP 14:35 I ran/walked the Poppy Bear something trail over by Las Palmas. Got red dirt all over my new shoes but I scrubbed them off when I got home. Ran up and down some really cool bike trails. I want a mountain bike. I went with a friend from home that I've never exercised with. We ran into each other at the pool and she asked if I wanted to go with her. I was fine with walk/running cause I wanted to take it easy before the triathlon.

| | SHAC triathlon in St. George. My first triathlon so I guess I am now a triathlete. I did this with my friend who came up from Vegas. My time was 1:26. My transitions weren't the smoothest. My friend brought me a bike and helmet and I had tried the helmet but then she switched it last minute and I didn't try it. So...I went to put it on during the race and it didn't fit and she had to adjust it twice for me so lost time there. I was all ready to run cause I wore my running shoes on the bike. I love the bike I just needed padding. My family saw me transitioning from bike to run but I didn't see them till half way through my run. I was so happy to see them cheering me on!
I swam 400 yrds Biked 10 miles Ran 3 miles Those are not official sprint distances but close. It was really hard. I enjoyed the swim. My crotch still hurts from the bike. My feet were numb the first mile of the run. Good times:)

38:37 AP 9:40 Beautiful morning. I ran around the parks and down at Falcon there was a light mist/fog around the park that was cool. I also tan into two ducks down there. So cute. They flew away when I said hi as I ran by. Then ran over to Flat Iron and found myself wondering why I hadn't seen any other run/walkers out and then jumped and screamed a bit when another runner (guy) passed me from behind. Need to not run with music for that reason. I am a super jumpy person though. And I like my music right now:) 2 days ago I went out in the backyard and found my new running shoes had spent the night out in the rain. My 2 yr old apparently wore them outside and left them there:( They've been through St. George red dirt and rain now. I guess they're broken in.

I'm so not prepared. So I'm a little scared. Betsy was running circles around Deb and I and then way out in front. It was nice to run with company and I'm glad I never tripped on the trail. Deb tripped about 5 times and we were laughing. She didn't trip and fall, just little trips. BK Power yoga-52 minutes

|
| | 1:09:11 AP 9:53 I wore a hat cause I thought it would rain on me for sure...but it never did. Thought I might be going with Deb but ended up alone. It was windy but warm. I ran up Eastdell which I haven't done in a while. Had a head wind running up it to so I felt like I was barely moving ha! 9th grader has cheer clinics and tryouts this week. I'm nervous and excited for her to enter high school and maybe the world of cheer leading. We also need to start letting her drive (she's almost 15)! ah! I can't handle it! My kids are growing up! It all seems like yesterday for me, (driving/high school/cheer) but I guess I'm just really old now:(
|
| |
| | 43:52 AP 9:45 Left at 6:30 and thought for SURE it would rain on me sometime, so I wore my raincoat. It's my bigger one that I hardly ever wear but my lighter one doesn't have a hood and I didn't want my hair wet today. I was too hot in it and of course it did NOT rain on me. I even wore old shoes. It was a beautiful spring morning with the birds singing loudly. I swear I heard some exotic bird at one point, not the sound I usually hear from the birds around here. Lets talk about SMELLS! My favorite of course is the fresh, clean, spring, almost gonna rain smell. But it was also garbage day so GARBAGE, DRYER VENT (so dryer sheet smell, perfume) BREAKFAST/MUFFINS I'm pretty sure and CIGARETTE SMOKE. I usually don't see the source of the smoke smell but today he was right out on the sidewalk and this is not the area where I usually smell cigarette smoke. Anyway... I usually smell one, maybe two of these on a run but not all together so I had to write about it:) Trying to decide which smell I enjoy the most while running. BK Power Yoga-52 minutes

6am run up Little Cottonwood Trail...and back down. Went with Deb, Jill and Betsy but mostly ran with Betsy. It was my first time running this trail and I loved it! It was challenging but so beautiful and loved the trail on my feet. I might need to buy trail shoes... I'm trying to decide whether or not train for a marathon for Sept 8 or train to pace Betsy through the Wasatch 100 (she said it would be 12 miles somewhere. I think Lambs canyon). although when we were hiking some of the hills she said maybe I should pace her on some hills cause I was good at it. Road running is kind of boring after trails. I came home and ran a little to make it 7 miles. Betsy runs that trail all the time and we hoped to see a moose that she always sees in a certain area but all we saw were moose droppings/chocolate covered almonds:) Looked for Mountain goats too but didn't see any:( The temps were perfect and it was so beautiful and so close to home! Must do it again soon. Love SPRING!!! What?? 29.75? Gotta get back out there now!;) Oh and my 9th grader made JV cheer/song leader! We were up till midnight waiting to find out if she made it. Need a nap today!

I ran her home and then ran back home. Beautiful and green outside!

| | Went to Save the Day 5k for Gage Thompson this morning at Murray Park! It was so fun. We took the whole family. My two oldest were at the water station and I pushed my 2 yr old in a jogger. My 7 and 10 yr old ran with my husband. My kids looked so cute in those cute t-shirts! It was a fun and beautiful place to run. Cami (7) started out with Sydney (10) but slowed way down and Jeff stayed with her till I caught up to them. I stayed in the back with the stroller and it took me a while to catch up cause there were lots of slow people and a small path. I did catch up eventually and Jeff went ahead and Cami stayed with Josie (2) and I. The second loop around we saw a duck floating down the little stream and a mommy duck with her babies that was SO cute! Cami did amazing and ran this entire 5k! I was a little bit ahead of her and I think she was scared to lose me so she just kept running, even up the big hill twice! I let Josie out a little before the finish so she could run through the balloons. It was a great event and you did a great job LYSA! Sydney and Cami have never run a 5k and it was just great to get the family out for a good cause. Josie loved it to and Jane said it was fun to be able to see all the runners and pass out water. I haven't talked to Liz cause she's still with you as I'm writing this. Super fun morning for Super hero Gage! Yummy cookies too! I drove Sydney to tumbling at 123rd and just past the freeway. I drove down to JRP and ran 5 miles. My music died on me( I tried to run this 5 miles fast cause my .6 and 5k time was slow with kids. I also had to get back fast to get Sydney on time. It was really cold this morning at the 5k but warmed up as the sun came out. I changed and ran in capris and short sleeves on the jrp and the temp was perfect. Love being able to run at noon in the Spring! I saw a guy with ski poles and what looked like skates that were long, like a skateboard, but not quite that long. Never seen that before.

Had to go with my first grader to school and do discovery day. I taught the kids about music. We lead music with pixie stix and I taught them some fun songs. Then made a football b-day cake for her b-day party cause that's what she wanted. Went to classic skate to do bounce and jungle zone with 10 first graders, a preschooler and my 2 yr old. Now I remember why we don't have big friend parties every year:) Came home and had to decorate the kitchen and wrap family presents for her actual birthday tomorrow! BK Power Yoga-52 minutes

57:15 AP 9:33 Left about 6:30 and my legs felt tired and sore from cross training this week. After mile 1 I was warmed up and after the big hill I tried to speed it up. Last mile was flat. My niece and sister are injured and can't run the AF half as they planned. I am a HUGE believer in cross training to prevent injury. I know it helps. Especially core strengthening xt. And rest days. I better remind my other sister of this so I'm not running this half marathon alone. I listened to some One Direction cause my 7th grader wanted me to buy it. I put some on my ipod. Kind of an insult to Coldplay to have that boy band on the same playlist. Actually some of the songs are fun and pretty good but some are not good. "Shot me out of the sky. You're my Kryptonite!" aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!

It was already pretty hot in the sun with tank top and shorts. We ran on a trail going out but coming back was cooler. We ran around some homes and saw the golf course. 51:59 AP 10 The base of my left pinky toe is purple cause I kicked the table leg last night. It hurt a little while running this morn. Hopefully it's nothing. Ugh. It's always hard to get up on a Monday morn after vacation but I did. Felt slow and sluggish after eating too much crap this weekend (but we had a blast)! I ran around both parks twice. Lots of hills. I wore my Ogden marathon shirt and shorts. I loved that marathon experience. Beautiful weather this morning. Can't decide if I should run another marathon or concentrate on yard work. My back yard is a disaster! Yard work for like 3 hours or something. Lawn mowing, etc. It's the etc that's kill'in me. Josie played with the neighbors grand kids in the sprinklers. She's part of the reason I haven't done yard work for so long but now she's older it might get easier. Going back out now that Josie's in bed.

6:30am run with Ashley. I wore a hat and wind breaker thinking for sure it would rain on us at some point but it never did! Perfect weather this morning. Not too hot, not too cold and no sun! Great conversation! AND Ashley said she would actually consider running a marathon someday which I'm so excited about! I didn't think she would ever do it but to hear her talk about it gives me hope. Beautiful morning! Ran a mile around here and then up newcastle and over to Debeers which turns into Willow Hills. Over past Albion and up Newcastle and up and up. down past water tower and over to buffalo. Down alta canyon and up highland. My lower butt feels SO tight still. The tightness spread down my right hamstring during the run. This happened on Thurs and Sat. too. What is up? Gotta do more yoga I guess. Oh. I was obsessed with checking out people's curb house numbers this morning cause I painted curbs for my daughter's fundraiser yesterday for like 3 hours. I think we did a pretty crappy job. BK Power Yoga-52 minutes -Heaven on earth My sister sent me this article saying she has this problem. I think my issues are also related to the psoas, but not as severe as hers.

I ran 11 miles with Ashley 1:45:15 AP 9:34. Last mile was my fastest at 9:08.
1 mile alone (after sitting in the car for a while) 10:10 AP 10:11 Had to make it 30 for the week. The weather was so weird at 6:10am. There was a yucky looking brown cloud covering out west. It almost looked like smoke from a fire. There were also creepy looking clouds coming up over the east mountains. I was so grateful for the cloud cover though because it would have been a much hotter run without them. We started at the park and ride at bottom of Little Cottonwood and ran to Draper. It an eventful, memorable run and I can't write about it all here:) It was a fun 11 miler! I've only ever run dimple dell to draper as part of a marathon training run. I'm usually at 18-20 miles in that area so it was nice. Good job Ashley! You rock!

| | 49:18 AP 9:52 Hills this morning. Ran both parks. TUT (total uphill time) 7 minutes I was gonna do more but decided to take a nap when Josie did. |
|
| | 1:19:36 AP 9:57 It took me a while to get warmed up. Like the first 4 miles. I feel better running down hill so the second half of the run was better. It was quite windy in spots. It was cooler than yesterday. But now (7pm) it's freezing! Holy temp drop! I needed to do yoga but didn't have time. I helped at the first grade field day for almost 2 hours and I'm wiped out!!! Obstacles courses, bowling, big, huge parachute thingy, two-legged races. I took Josie and she loved all of it.

| | I was supposed to cross train today. It was too cold to swim in the morning. I ended up cleaning the house ALL DAY. Moved a heavy piece of furniture up the stairs that worked my core:). It was the last day of school for 2 of my kids. The older two were home all day so we cleaned out their room for a garage sale.
I ate good all day and then gave in to In and Out. End of school dinner night out for the kids.

| | 58:15 AP 9:41 Nice and cool this morning!!! This weather is crazy. I prefer the cool.
I needed to do yoga but painted addresses on curbs from 10am-4pm!!! I'm so tired and hot! Guess I'm running 12 alone tomorrow cause Ash can't do tomorrow morn and I can't do Saturday morn. Have to be at Brighton High School for a garage sale/car wash from 6am-12 noon. Spending a lot of time fundraising for my 15 yr old this week.

I ran 8.4 up and down Little Cottonwood Trail at 6am with Betsy. This run beat the crap out of me and I was barely able to run 4 at home. It was so pretty and Betsy told me all about her 50 miler in Idaho last weekend. It was inspiring story about how she wanted to quit but didn't and she ended up helping people who were struggling along the way. People who had passed her early on. She's an AMAZING trail runner. We went all the way to a campground, Tanner Flats I think. We were close to the river the entire run and it was so beautiful. It got pretty cold toward the top. Coming down I started to feel pretty beat up. It was way harder on my body then going up. I wasn't wearing trail shoes shoes. Betsy had trail shoes and gators and even fingerless gloves for grabbing trees or falling:) No one fell thank goodness. I couldn't believe the way she FLEW down the mountain. That takes practice and skill. She was like a bunny hopping threw the forest. I kept looking up to see her blond pony tail swishing up ahead. Anyway, a super tough, but gorgeous run! Then a dreadful 3.6 at home in the hot sun:( Looking forward to a 6am garage sale/car wash at Brighton High tomorrow for cheer fundraiser. NOT!:) We'll see...it might be fun. I should be encouraging you all to come and buy and get your car washed tomorrow! go Bengals!!! woo hoo!

| | Swim- 50 minutes. Felt SO good! I'm sore after that trail run yesterday. esp quads! Love, love, love to swim. I alternated between freestyle and breaststroke. 6am-1pm I was at a car wash/garage sale at Brighton for cheer fundraiser. It was super dang fun! Came home and took a nap cause I got like 4 hrs of sleep last night. Stayed up watching A Beautiful Mind. Love that movie.

| | 57:11 AP 9:32 Guess I'll be getting up at 5:15am this summer. what???!!! Jane has to be at cheer at 5:40am. I'm just super happy she has a part time job at the pool and hope she can keep it all summer. I need to just do speed work (twice a week) on the track at the school after dropping her off. I've never done that before. I'm nervous and I'm not sure what to do. Nice run this morning. Drove home after dropping Jane and ran around here. I should probably find some routes over by Brighton some days of the week. It was on the cool side but I love that. 8:50 was my fastest mile. It took a while to warm up. My quads are still sore from Sat. JW Upper body weights and abs workout. 30 min

| | 1:09:49 AP 9:59 Cheer is earlier so now I wake at 5am cause Jane needs me to wake her up. Do most parents have to wake their teenagers? She sleeps through her alarm that's blaring!!! I ran at 6am. I did the backwards buffalo run. From here, down past Ashley's and up the road next to alta canyon road. Up past buffalo and over to Albion and up to water tower. Lots of hills. Then down to home. Always pick it up on the last 2-3 miles. Beautiful morning. Beautiful sunrise. Pink clouds. They were gone by the time I got out but saw them from my car. BK Power Yoga-50 minutes

2:14:15 AP 10:15 I haven't run 13.1 since SGM. Left at 6am with Ashley. Her schedule said to run 5 but she ran 13 with me! How nice! It was quite a hilly run. We even ran up Sterling hill toward the end of the run which we don't usually do. She's worried she won't finish her half in 2 hrs after today's run but I reminded her how many hills we ran, and big one's! I told her we shouldn't have a problem coming down the canyon but we're worried about her knee cause it hurts when she runs downhill. Hopefully she'll be fine next week. We're going in with confidence after doing 13 this morning. My run last week was WEAK so I feel good after today. Excited for next week! Excited to get away for a night next Friday and eat at Pizzeria 712 and stay in a hotel and be without kids for several hours AND run a new half with my sister! My husband's been at scout camp since Wed. so I'm DONE! I need a break!!!

50:12 AP 10:03 It was 70 degrees at 5:25am! Hot! I left around 6 to go run. Ran both parks and did about 8 minutes of hill time. Once up Sterling, 4 times up hill at Flat Iron and up Piper. 30 minutes upper body and ab workout. I forgot to write about the dog that followed us on our Sat. run. We were in the driveway getting ready to start and this dog that looked part husky (light blue eyes) and part german shepherd came toward us, no leash, no owner. I was a little nervous. He followed us for about 4 miles before he disappeared. He would approach other runners/walkers and I'd yell, "that's not our dog!" Weird.

1:17:03 AP 9:38 Jeff and I ran together this morning. I don't think we've run together since St. George. I checked the temp at 5:45am and it was 61 degrees. I thought. But I checked again at 10:30 and it was 61 degrees? I don't know. It was nice and cool and lovely! I ran faster with him cause we push each other. He tried to beat me up East dell (big hill) but did not. I went in to this run thinking he better keep up with me cause he hasn't been running, so if he ever tried to get ahead it ticked (cleaner word) me off. Competitive nature. SO we had a great run and great conversation and then the last mile or so I picked it up. He stayed with me and then on a gradual downhill he passed me and I couldn't catch him so I went a different way then he did to finish. I know, I'm pathetic. But my last mile was 8:27 so...I was happy! Thanks for pushing me Jeff! Later on I was miffed he sped up and he said "Well YOU sped up and I had to keep up with you." As he passed me that one time I said "Don't hurt yourself!" Later again... after breakfast he was limping off to work. Dork. But I love you! I should add...I'm a little sore from this mornings run as well.

American Fork Canyon Half Marathon (13.1 Miles) 01:57:34, Place overall: 254, Place in age division: 31
My garmin says13.23 in 1:57:39 AP 8:53. This is my 4th half marathon. I PR'd today by a minute plus a little! I didn't even realize it till I was driving home and checked my last half time (on my sister's i phone) cause I didn't remember what it was. So I'm happy!!! Ashley and I drove down to AF to get our packets and then went to dinner at Pizzeria 712 in Orem! Scrump! We then stopped at The Chocolate which is almost right next door. We took our leftover food and too many desserts to my other sister's in Traverse mountain. She was supposed to run this with us but got injured. She did jump in at mile 9 and run to the finish. Way to go Amber!!! Ash and I stayed at a hotel at Thanksgiving point. I didn't get much sleep. It was so fun to have a night out though and sleep in a hotel. I never do that. Anyway, not much sleep and at 2am Ashley was cracking her knuckles in her sleep. Think she was nervous? We got to the buses at 4:30am and rode up on a luxury bus. I've always been stuck on a school bus. It was nice. I wasn't feeling well and didn't talk much. That's pretty much how it went the entire race. I was having female issues and ate too much the night before. Bad. Greg Wrubell was mcing at the top . His voice put us right at ease:) I saw the group of pacers shortly before race time and recognized some from the blog. I talked to Kelli and wished I had trained to run a 1:45 half. I saw Kim and introduced myself. She is beautiful in person. She was pacing 2:10 and her husband 2:00. So, I was hoping Ashley's knee would be fine on the downhill. I told her we needed to take advantage of the canyon and we did! I was feeling crappy and I was annoyed being surrounded by runners in the beginning. I broke out and Ashley caught up. I told her I wasn't feeling well so wouldn't be talking much. We put our music in. At mile 3 I felt a major blister forming on big right toe. I had side ache, stomach cramping issues from mile 3-6 appr. I hadn't eaten yet and didn't take ibuprofen before the race, probably should have. I had shot bloks and drink at mile 6 and pulled out ahead of Ash for the rest of the race. I had a bright orange shirt on and ended up being her guiding light to a sub 2 hr half. She surpassed her goal! My mantra in this race from the beginning was "The faster you run, the sooner you'll be done." Cause I felt so crappy. I tried to enjoy it but it's hard when you have sickness issues. So I just RAN. The cramping went away as I concentrated on my breathing. At mile 9 my sister Amber jumped in. I kept running and she asked about Ashley and I said she was behind and I kept running. I couldn't stop. At mile 10 as I turned left to go up a little hill, I got a pounding headache!!! Really??? Again with the mantra. I just ran as fast as I could the last 3 miles. It was getting hot, it was so hard to keep running but I just wanted to get to that finish line to see my family and be done! They were all there in the chute sticking out their hands for me to slap. I got my medal and REALLY needed water which was like a half mile away for some reason. I finally found it and brought some back to Ash and Amber. Ash was only a minute behind me. She did awesome!
Beautiful course. I loved the canyon and it was fun running through the gold course. Happy about the PR.

6 slow HOT miles at 6am. Ran up to La Caille and back. 75 degrees and now it's 79 at 7:38am? What's up with that? Quads are tender. Headache started as soon as I started running. Headwind too. Awesome. I forgot to say that Sat. the air was fine. People were worried about the fire/air quality. I never smelled smoke that morning and there was no wind. Up at home later it was totally windy. Weird.

2:47:13 AP 10:27 I think you're not supposed to do a long run in new shoes but I did and I'm so glad!!! I left at 5:30am to run a mile while waiting for Jeff. Ran a few with him but left cause he was running WAY too slow, on purpose. He was running 8 and had to get back to go to Youth Conference with Jane and Lizzie. I just didn't really want to run 16 all alone but...I did pretty much. So a few miles with him sort of. I decided to just run out and back cause I needed to get home ASAP. I ran up toward little Cottonwood basically and back home. Started our regular 8 but went up and around by the water tank and then turned up off Eastdell toward the park and dimple dell trail. Up past the trail and up past Granite Elem then turned around and came back and turned left past that old white church and up to 94th. Turned around and retraced my steps. It helped to have some new music (new Keane album, still can't get over that concert) and of course I had plenty to drink. AND most importantly new glorious shoes that helped me make it through this run. I was worried about my foot because it hurt to walk on it still this morning. I had to walk on Thurs. during my last mile because of it. I strained it at the pool yesterday running to save Josie from drowning. So I was worried. During the mile WU it was sore but it just got better throughout the run. I guess I just needed new shoes. These glycerins are so much CUTER than my others. And I've never worn a shoe with pink accents. So exciting!!! And the main color is dark gray so they won't look as dirty!!! I'm so excited!!!!

| | Last run in Island Park. It rained before and after my run. Not during. On the way out I saw a moose. I stopped and didn't know what to do. Stand there, walk? run? I didn't want to run until she was out of sight. It was just me and the moose at 6:20am. She was across the road. She turned and started trotting toward the gate. She stopped there and then jumped over the gate and went off into the trees. Beautiful sight! I ran out 6 miles and back. I ran all the way to the main road. All by my lonesome. I listened to music in one ear on the way back. I'm kind of sad to be home. It's so beautiful up there. Nice and cool too. |

| | Lysa convinced me to go Friday with her and I'm glad even though it was on 4 hrs of sleep. We saw the Dark Knight at 9:30pm thurs. and I still can't stop thinking about the horror those people in Colorado went through sitting in that same situation...waiting for their movie to start just a few hours after our movie began. So sad. It's the kind of thing that would happen in that movie only it was reality for them! So creepy and terrifying! Anyway, Lysa texted me at 5am cause my alarm didn't go off. I hurried out and it took me forever to actually feel awake but I finally did. We ran slow and talked the whole time. We saw the reindeer again. It was really nice to run with Lysa and Erin. There's no way I want to do 18 miles alone. It was HOT down in draper the last 3 miles but I pushed it and tried for a fast finish. I just wanted to be done. Oh we had stopped at a gas station and I got a coke, mixed it with ice water and put a lemon in. ha! i've never done that during a run but it tasted SO good. That helped me through the last 5 miles. Thanks to Scott for picking us up. You're awesome!

| | 58:31 AP 9:45 Slow flat and up. Fast down and flat.
The sky looked really cool when I went out this morning. There were a bunch of gray clouds covering most of it but over the east mountains it was clear and blue and the clouds were a little pink. There were random rays of sunlight around the valley. The clouds overtook the sky throughout my run and it started raining a little at one point. I would have welcomed more rain. It felt so good. On my way home I got a great view of the city and I could see a ray of sunlight shining into Emigration canyon. I thought of the marathoners and Allie in particular. Hoping she had a great race. I don't even know at this point. I never seem to get my yoga time in cause of summer and holidays! argh! So I did a bunch of HANDSTANDS this morning. 3 sets of 10 and held each one for about 5 seconds. I should be sore tomorrow but I want to keep these up. I talked to the owner of my daughter's tumbling gym yesterday who has a smok'in hot body and she said she swims, jogs and does handstands. This is very doable for me cause I used to be a gymnast. She told me she can't do pushups cause of rotater cuff injury but can do handstands. Interesting. Of course she eats very healthy too and even makes her own crackers from quinoa and flax seed. Yep.

| | 1:00:11 AP 10:02 Beautiful sunrise! Not much speed work going on in my training for this marathon. I'm just trying to not drop out of training all together. I just try and run fast at the end of each run. Family life is out of control. My 3 oldest want to party all night! Every night! What's up!? I need my sleep! Then my 2 yr old is waking up too early and we're potty training so... I don't know how I'll do 3 20's before this race.
First 4 miles were slow (mostly up) and the last 2 were fast. I ran down around Falcon and then up Falcon all the way to the top by the water tank and back down. 9:12 and 8:47 for down and flat mile at the end. So...I'm sore from handstands and yoga cause I never get to do it anymore. Handstands this morning were tough also because I actually held them for 5 full seconds this morn. Last time it was more like 2 or 3 seconds. I'm feeling it. 3X10 handstands. Rest in between.

| | 3:30:28 AP 10:31 Deb picked me up a little after 5am and we drove to 53rd JRP parking lot. We ran 5 miles north and back to car and 5 miles south and back. It was interesting. Deb did awesome for only running 9 miles recently for long run. I lost her the last 5 miles. She struggled and I just wanted to be done and lay in the shade so we were pretty much together until the last 5. I'm pretty sure I saw Teena Marie running with 2 guys. She was heading north when we were coming back to the car to finish our first 10. Then I saw her again with I think a different guy when we were heading south after stopping at the car and she was heading north. At some point during our water break between 10's she passed us. anyway...I think she noticed me and smiled the second time I saw her. The first 5 miles were in the dark and we ate tons of bugs. Yucky. We saw peacocks and ducks and geese and two deer during that first five. Coming back we saw more people out. Miles 10-15 were the hardest. Our first 5 headed south and we had a head wind. We also ran past Gardner Village and the trail got really boring and HOT!!! Coming back we had some wind at out back and I was so ready to be done. I was running out of water. I sped up and the last 5 miles were my fastest. I filled up with water a mile before I got to the car. Finished my whole bottle and then drank an entire cold slushy gatorade I put by the wheel of Deb's car. I'm SO glad I did that cause she was quite a ways behind me. I just laid in the shade and drank and was SO happy to be done! Came home and changed my shirt real quick before going to the neighborhood breakfast. It was ok. I'm going to get me a coke slurpee at the sev today. Deb is getting one and says they are really good so I'm going for it! Oh and 3X10 handstands today. Holding each for 5 seconds. Feels good to get off my feet.

| | Woke at 4:45am. Deb picked me up at 5 to go run Little Cottonwood Trail with Betsy. I wish I could keep up with Betsy. She is a mountain goat. She looks like one (lots of cute, blond, curly hair) and she runs like one. She just ran the mountain goat race over snowbird this last saturday, 50k. She amazing! anyway, Deb and I were way behind her. I really need trail shoes if I'm going to run trails more often, which I'd like to do. Would it be be bad to buy trail shoes at the outlets in Park City? Do I need to be as picky about my trail shoes as I do my road running shoes? It's so beautiful running this mountain. Love it. But it's really hard on my body. I just need to do it more often. Up and back was 6.73 appr. so I had Deb drop me off between La Caille and the trail and ran home. Ended up being a 1/2 mile farther than I was planning but oh well. |

| | 1:19:14 AP 9:54 I tried to run fast because I got up a little late and needed to get home fast. My last mile was the fastest and just a slight downhill at the beginning of the it. It always the hills during the first half of my run that bring my average down. Those darn hills! The battery on my garmin is dying :( I charged it last night and it's about to die. Is this the end of my garmin? I spent the entire day in Park City at a soccer tournament and walking around the outlets. Fun!

Here's what the commentator for the women's olympic marathon said as the women were approaching the finish line. Your ability to run/finish a marathon depends on your "CAPACITY AND WILLINGNESS TO SUFFER!" So true. I need to change my blog mantra to this because I'm certainly not feeling namasteish since yoga has gone out the window this summer. I think that's part of the reason why I'm so sore from the knees down.

| | Still slow but faster than yesterday. There was a guy running with his dog who turned in front of me as I headed to an intersection. He had great form and looked like he was wearing slippers. I talked to him at the intersection while waiting to cross. I asked him what he was wearing and he said Run-a-mocs. I asked how far he runs in them and he said the farthest was 17 miles. Said he ran the steeple chase race in them, trail run. I noticed a hole in one shoe at the toes. He said he tried vibrams but didn't like the way his toes weren't free. Interesting. Amazing to me that he can run in those. Cool. 30 handstands. Held some of them for 10 seconds. Plank X3 at 2:00, 1:30 and 1:00

Well, on Saturday's at least. This was my highest mileage week. I think it's funny that my highest mileage week is Allie's lowest. I remember reading her schedule she posted after running Deseret News in prep for Top of Utah. After a week of rest she was starting out at 40 something miles I think. Amazing.

| | 8 miles with Jeff. I needed a new route so he took me on one even though he was only going to run 4 today. What a nice guy! We went north and down to creek road and Crest wood. Then up creek and over to country club and up toward buffalo but turned on street before that and came down home. We finished before home and walked a little. It was nice to have a partner and no music. I'm sick of my music. Got an e-mail this morn about fires and the salmon marathon. The air quality is "moderate" up there as of this morn and they are letting people forward their registration to next year if they want. Bummer if there's yucky air up there for the marathon. They also said that as of today, the race will not be cancelled. WHAT??? It might be cancelled??? |

8 miles and was home in time (6:40am) to see Jane off to her first day of high school! Can't believe it! I remember filming her after her first full day of first grade and making her tell me every detail. I doubt she'll let me do that after school today :( Beautiful weather this morn. Beautiful stars. I was supposed to run some mp miles and intervals and whatever. I was realizing that for this marathon I'm happy with my mp being anything under 10mm. I can't believe I'm whining about running this marathon when my friend Betsy is running the Wasatch 100 that same weekend. AMAZING! Wasn't the moon gorgeous last night? My husband and I and our two youngest were out riding bikes when it came creeping up behind the mountain. Blue Moon! It was so cool. 1 hour run on the schedule today. How awesome is that for a Sat.?! I didn't leave on my run until 8:10am because the storm kept me up as well as my two youngest who came in to sleep in our room. I was in full sun for the first part but at least it was sort of cool from the rain. The clouds came out on the second half and that really helped. Salmon Marathon (26.2 Miles) 04:35:40, Place overall: 24, Place in age division: 11
Marathon #4 in 2 years. I'm happy about that, even if this was my slowest marathon time. I feel like I ran this race about as well as I trained for it. This was also the most difficult course I have run in a marathon. The temps couldn't have been more perfect for a marathon. I had that on my side for sure.
I had a great time traveling up to Salmon, ID with JD, Lysa, Scott, Erin and Cam. What a super fun group to hang with for a weekend! We met up with Thayne and Wendy when we got up there. We all stayed at the Stagecoach Inn on the Salmon river and it was beautiful! Now to focus on the race. I tried to go to sleep around 9:30 and my alarm went off at 5am. I wrestled around a lot in between that time. We met for breakfast in the lounge at 5:30am. I tried to eat a bagel and some peanut butter. As I looked around the lobby of the hotel I could see a lot of fit runners. I didn't know much about this race I was about to run. Jeff had asked me before I left if I knew I would be running on a dirt road and he also said "You know you'll probably be running alone a lot of the time." I didn't really listen to him. I guess I was in some sort of denial about running the marathon. (Lots of stress at home while training for this one). SO we were on one of the last buses and all we did was drive back out of town for 30 minutes. This was a first. I was thinking during the drive "All my other marathons have been running down a big ol canyon for the first many miles..." I started to get nervous... We finally got off the bus and I was able to see all the runners. They were ALL very fit and I could see that we girls would be at the back of the finishing pack for this small marathon. Whatever. I was excited to get it over with. It was cold but I had my long sleeve shirt and polka dot fleece pants that I've worn at the top of every marathon. I dropped my sweats in my bag but ended up keeping that shirt on for the first 6 miles. The race started and I stayed with Lysa and Erin for the first 5 miles. They were boring and had their music on. I didn't get mine out till later. Lysa had it down low cause she responded when I talked to her. Wendy was singing away to her music and I knew she'd be good company for some during this tough race. During the first few miles I realized that this dirt road was going to bother me but what choice did I have. There were many, many cows out and mooing like crazy loud and in harmony. I noticed a group of cows that seemed to be following us. Then they started running with us. I kept looking over and there they'd be. Running and mooing. They ran with us as far as they could and then turned as the fence appeared. That was cool. Maybe cows aren't so stupid. During this race I saw cows, horses, a deer, goats and a little, teeny pony. Also, my left foot had been sore at the ball of my foot and into my toes. I could feel this from the start and it just got worse.
I was on my own starting at about mile 5. For the rest of the marathon, I was pretty much alone. I survived by picking people off. Counting the kills. Mile 6 started a hill followed by a longer, steeper hill at mile 7. I passed 4 girls during this time. There were some fun rolling hills after the big uphill. Later I passed 2 guys that were run/walking. They were ahead of me till about mile 12. When we came to the out and back which was mile 15 I believe, I was happy to see the aid station and PEOPLE. I had been alone for a while. So many people cause they were coming out of the switch back area. I saw Thayne at this point and gave him a high-five. It was a gradual uphill and it was tough. At the turn around for the half marathoners there were two guys throwing a football. I motioned for them to throw it to me as I ran up to them. They hesitated but threw it. I totally caught it and they looked surprised and then I threw almost a perfect spiral back to them. They looked impressed:) I finally got to the turn around point and it felt SO good to come back down. There was a cool breeze and downhill! On my way back down I saw Lysa and Erin!!!! They looked great and I told them they were almost there ;) and that it was so much better after the turn around. I saw Wendy after them. She walked/ran most of the marathon. She immediately asked how I was doing. She said I looked like I was limping and did I need Ibu? I told I had it. That was so nice of her to be concerned about me. My next runner to pick off had been way ahead for quite some time. I was sure if I would get her. It took the next 6 miles before she got slower and I finally passed her around mile 21/22. That was a tough section of the race. My shoes were filled with rocks and dirt but I didn't want to stop. My left foot would scream out in pain every time I stepped on a rock which was like every 5 seconds. I never stopped to pee once. I did walk through every aid station and drank the water and GU drink. This entire marathon I took at 10/10 and a 10k. When I got to the 10 k I just ran as fast as my legs would carry me. I feel like I was consistent throughout this race, just slow. I passed a few more marathoners and I think some half marathoners during the last 10k. We finally had pavement from I think mile 22 to the end. Maybe 23. At the last aid station there was a sign that said "Friends don't let friends run marathons." I thought of Lysa. It was my own decision to run this "with" her but it was her fault for deciding to run another marathon. So I blamed her for me being in that situation at that time and in PAIN! Love you Lys;) I was so excited to be almost be done and as we came into town and finally saw people cheering us on and ringing cow bells, that really helped me. I've decided I'm not good in small races. I'd much rather run a big race with tons of people running with me and supporting me. I guess i'm a wimp. So, I was supposed to turn on to the main street and for some reason I went straight instead. They started whistling and yelling at me to come back. I heard them and did. UGH! More steps then I needed to take. I ran up the main street and turned down to the finish line. SO glad to be done. Cam, Scott, JD and Thayne were there to take pics and cheer me on. Instead of doing a handstand which JD had teased me about doing at the finish, I did a cartwheel. He said it looked really good ;) So another marathon finished. And now I'm taking a break!

| | It was a nice, mild, early morning run. Slow but I did it. On the way back in to my neighborhood I saw something scurrying across the street that was smaller than a cat. I was thinking of things smaller than a cat...it wouldn't be a squirrel...a chipmunk....no...it was a RAT! I saw it well cause I had my headlight on. It ran right in front of me! Gross. The other morning I saw somebody's mailbox smashed on the ground with a smashed pumpkin next to it. Sad. It is fun to see all the halloween decor and lights on early morning runs. I still feel my foot but I don't care cause i'm tired of not running. Around mile 4 I saw my husband running toward me out on his run and I gave him a kiss before running home. That was fun.
3 sets of 10 handstands in between 3 sets of planks at 2:00, 1:30 and 1:00. Held the handstands for 5 secs each. I almost couldn't hold the two minute plank cause i'm sore from yoga yesterday. I just have to say that IT'S A REALLY BAD IDEA TO STOP EXERCISING! I've been trying to climb out of the black hole I've been in since Salmon marathon and it's tough to see what I've lost. | | I ran 1.34 around the neighborhood. During my run a lady rode up behind me on her bike, calling me by name. It's a lady I always see out riding her bike while I'm running. She asked if I was in pain because it looked like I was limping. She said she noticed today and last time she saw me running that I was running differently and apparently she's concerned enough to talk to me about. She basically advised that I stop running so I don't end up like her, on a bike for the rest of my life. She said I'm young and I need to be careful and ...I appreciate her concern but I just want to scream! I was telling her (she rode beside me as I ran this 1.34) I rested and that it wasn't hurting as bad as it used to. I stopped running cause I guess she was going to keep riding beside me till I stopped. Then I saw Lysa ran past up ahead but she didn't see me. I wasn't sure if it was her either cause she cut her hair. ANYWAY, I stopped running. As we watched Lysa run by the lady said "She's not running funny." Like me. Okay...so...should I stop running? Should I listen to her? I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO!!! This probably doesn't make any sense. I don't care. I'm just mad. I'm MAD! I feel like I've lost what I had and can't get it back. I'm fat again and I can't run anymore. I guess this is my goodbye.
