| | 1:10:47 AP 10:07 Super hot and windy. It was a big mistake to not take water on this run. Left pretty early so wasn't in the sun much but I was so thirsty! Saw Lysa and Erin and it was good to see them. Plank x3 @ 2min, 1:30 and 1 min Some Haddocks and Hobbys are running the Sandy City 5k/10ks tomorrow. Not me. It's my turn to watch and support. Happy 4th of July So sad to see the smoke billowing up behind the east mountains as I write this:(

| | Happy 4th! Jeff, Jane, Sydney and Cami ran races this morning. Jeff ran Sandy city 10k and the others ran the 5k. Everyone left Cami but she still ran and finished on her own. Nice job! I think this is their 2nd 5k. Parades, ice blocking at Flat Iron (it's tough carrying those ice blocks up that hill. I only did it twice). Tumbling class, Grocery store, bbq and fireworks! Great day!

1:01:51 AP 10:08 Warm and windy with a big dark cloud hanging over me but it never rained. Upper body and ab workout. 30 min Oh, there were a bunch of beer cans all over the street in front of my house this morning. Of course I picked them all up and disposed of them. God bless America. Give a hoot, don't pollute. |

| | Awesome run with Lysa this morning! It was beautiful out at 5:15am. One moon, two stars and a cloudless sky just getting light. My last mile was the fastest. I pushed it cause Scott and Lysa were waiting for me. We saw a reindeer (caribou?) on dimple dell. He was behind a fence, I guess he's a pet? He was beautiful! Feels so good. Hurts so good. 17 miles.

| | Swam laps for 55 minutes this afternoon. So awesome! I love swimming. Could do it forever. I alternated between front crawl and breast stroke every 10 lengths. I was on the lane closest to the diving board. I thought about doing some flips and maybe a full back twist (to see if I still had it in me) but the line was too long when I finished :) Treaded (is that a word?) water for 5 minutes.

Ran in Island Park this morning! Nice and cool. 5:30am.
Floated down the river on a raft. Saw a moose standing in the water. Josie was hanging over the raft with her hat in the water and she dropped it. I jumped in the freezing cold water to get it but couldn't. She keeps talking about how we lost her hat on the river.

| | Walked at least 4 miles. We went on a 3.5 mile hike/walk around Old Faithful. We left at 5:30am to go to Yellowstone. One of the first things we saw was a Mom Elk and her baby. The Baby crossed the street and couldn't find her Mom. She was making the cutest crying sounds that were really loud. I got it on camera. Her Mom was answering back. We saw a 2 big male elk later. We saw lots of geysers and buffalo and some of our party saw a black bear and a grizzly bear on the way out. We missed that:( We sawa moose too. | Add Comment |

| | Last run in Island Park. It rained before and after my run. Not during. On the way out I saw a moose. I stopped and didn't know what to do. Stand there, walk? run? I didn't want to run until she was out of sight. It was just me and the moose at 6:20am. She was across the road. She turned and started trotting toward the gate. She stopped there and then jumped over the gate and went off into the trees. Beautiful sight! I ran out 6 miles and back. I ran all the way to the main road. All by my lonesome. I listened to music in one ear on the way back. I'm kind of sad to be home. It's so beautiful up there. Nice and cool too. |

| | 50:53 AP 10:11 8 minutes TUT (total uphill time) Ran both parks. Up Falcon twice and flat iron thrice and up piper. Around each park once. I wore my old shoes cause I thought it might rain. The sky was crazy when I first got out there. Gray, dark clouds swirling around the mountains. Then there was blue sky and pink clouds in some spots. It cleared up as I ran. There were a TON of people out this morning. Good job people! 30 min upper body and ab workout!

| | 1:10:57 AP10:08 Decided to run a route I used to run with Deb and friends. I ran from home up Newcastle, up the trail, to La Caille. Up Wasatch to Little Cottonwood road and came down, down down to Highland and home. I saw Lysa, Erin and friend turn the corner right in front of me at albion and they didn't see me. I ran up behind them and scared the crap out of them. Super fun! POWER YOGA-50 minutes It was super dang hard cause I haven't done it in so long.

| | 65 minute swim. I swam 40 lengths today. The lanes were set up the long way (50 meters, 400 yards? I don't know). I alternated 10 front crawl/10 breast stroke to 40. It was tough. But awesome. If anyone knows what that is in official terms, let me know.

| | Lysa convinced me to go Friday with her and I'm glad even though it was on 4 hrs of sleep. We saw the Dark Knight at 9:30pm thurs. and I still can't stop thinking about the horror those people in Colorado went through sitting in that same situation...waiting for their movie to start just a few hours after our movie began. So sad. It's the kind of thing that would happen in that movie only it was reality for them! So creepy and terrifying! Anyway, Lysa texted me at 5am cause my alarm didn't go off. I hurried out and it took me forever to actually feel awake but I finally did. We ran slow and talked the whole time. We saw the reindeer again. It was really nice to run with Lysa and Erin. There's no way I want to do 18 miles alone. It was HOT down in draper the last 3 miles but I pushed it and tried for a fast finish. I just wanted to be done. Oh we had stopped at a gas station and I got a coke, mixed it with ice water and put a lemon in. ha! i've never done that during a run but it tasted SO good. That helped me through the last 5 miles. Thanks to Scott for picking us up. You're awesome!

| | 58:31 AP 9:45 Slow flat and up. Fast down and flat.
The sky looked really cool when I went out this morning. There were a bunch of gray clouds covering most of it but over the east mountains it was clear and blue and the clouds were a little pink. There were random rays of sunlight around the valley. The clouds overtook the sky throughout my run and it started raining a little at one point. I would have welcomed more rain. It felt so good. On my way home I got a great view of the city and I could see a ray of sunlight shining into Emigration canyon. I thought of the marathoners and Allie in particular. Hoping she had a great race. I don't even know at this point. I never seem to get my yoga time in cause of summer and holidays! argh! So I did a bunch of HANDSTANDS this morning. 3 sets of 10 and held each one for about 5 seconds. I should be sore tomorrow but I want to keep these up. I talked to the owner of my daughter's tumbling gym yesterday who has a smok'in hot body and she said she swims, jogs and does handstands. This is very doable for me cause I used to be a gymnast. She told me she can't do pushups cause of rotater cuff injury but can do handstands. Interesting. Of course she eats very healthy too and even makes her own crackers from quinoa and flax seed. Yep.

| | 1:00:11 AP 10:02 Beautiful sunrise! Not much speed work going on in my training for this marathon. I'm just trying to not drop out of training all together. I just try and run fast at the end of each run. Family life is out of control. My 3 oldest want to party all night! Every night! What's up!? I need my sleep! Then my 2 yr old is waking up too early and we're potty training so... I don't know how I'll do 3 20's before this race.
First 4 miles were slow (mostly up) and the last 2 were fast. I ran down around Falcon and then up Falcon all the way to the top by the water tank and back down. 9:12 and 8:47 for down and flat mile at the end. So...I'm sore from handstands and yoga cause I never get to do it anymore. Handstands this morning were tough also because I actually held them for 5 full seconds this morn. Last time it was more like 2 or 3 seconds. I'm feeling it. 3X10 handstands. Rest in between.

| | 3:30:28 AP 10:31 Deb picked me up a little after 5am and we drove to 53rd JRP parking lot. We ran 5 miles north and back to car and 5 miles south and back. It was interesting. Deb did awesome for only running 9 miles recently for long run. I lost her the last 5 miles. She struggled and I just wanted to be done and lay in the shade so we were pretty much together until the last 5. I'm pretty sure I saw Teena Marie running with 2 guys. She was heading north when we were coming back to the car to finish our first 10. Then I saw her again with I think a different guy when we were heading south after stopping at the car and she was heading north. At some point during our water break between 10's she passed us. anyway...I think she noticed me and smiled the second time I saw her. The first 5 miles were in the dark and we ate tons of bugs. Yucky. We saw peacocks and ducks and geese and two deer during that first five. Coming back we saw more people out. Miles 10-15 were the hardest. Our first 5 headed south and we had a head wind. We also ran past Gardner Village and the trail got really boring and HOT!!! Coming back we had some wind at out back and I was so ready to be done. I was running out of water. I sped up and the last 5 miles were my fastest. I filled up with water a mile before I got to the car. Finished my whole bottle and then drank an entire cold slushy gatorade I put by the wheel of Deb's car. I'm SO glad I did that cause she was quite a ways behind me. I just laid in the shade and drank and was SO happy to be done! Came home and changed my shirt real quick before going to the neighborhood breakfast. It was ok. I'm going to get me a coke slurpee at the sev today. Deb is getting one and says they are really good so I'm going for it! Oh and 3X10 handstands today. Holding each for 5 seconds. Feels good to get off my feet.

| | Woke at 4:45am. Deb picked me up at 5 to go run Little Cottonwood Trail with Betsy. I wish I could keep up with Betsy. She is a mountain goat. She looks like one (lots of cute, blond, curly hair) and she runs like one. She just ran the mountain goat race over snowbird this last saturday, 50k. She amazing! anyway, Deb and I were way behind her. I really need trail shoes if I'm going to run trails more often, which I'd like to do. Would it be be bad to buy trail shoes at the outlets in Park City? Do I need to be as picky about my trail shoes as I do my road running shoes? It's so beautiful running this mountain. Love it. But it's really hard on my body. I just need to do it more often. Up and back was 6.73 appr. so I had Deb drop me off between La Caille and the trail and ran home. Ended up being a 1/2 mile farther than I was planning but oh well. |
