Thank you everyone that commented on my Saturday's upsetting run.  I could not agree more with the advice everyone gave me.  I am taking it easy the next two weeks, ENJOYING the marathon, and then a break will be taking place.

Today I decided to punish myself a little for my sad run on Saturday.  I ran up Immigration Canyon 6 something miles, and then back down.  My legs felt like lead basically the entire time, so I really took it slow.  I was happy when run was over.

Nice work, glad you are enjoying your 'punishment' ! :) Immigration is a crazy run, I've only run down the canyon, but I did have to do 4 up on the other side - NOT fun!!!

Enjoy your taper down to the final race. You'll do GREAT!

Thanks RAD. This race is no big deal. It's more of a weekend getaway. Plus I get work off :) (that's the best part).

I did not even recognize you this morning in the dark until you passed me. It is amazing how we can pick out someone's form and know who they are.

I just read Saturday's run. You know what, everyone needs a break. You have been a training machine and your improvement has been amazing, your times are enviable to all of us!! BUT, I personally think it just gets to you after a bit. Take a break, slow down, enjoy the scenery, eat cookies.....whatever it takes. BUT if you do it, you will be back at it in a bit an stronger for it.

I have to say that I get into these slumps 2-3 times a year and I just take a break from the blog (too much pressure to run fast, hard, and long) and from running and in a few weeks i miss it and feel better about it.

Good luck with the race next weekend, i am excited to hear reports on this one.

Kelli,

Thank you so much for writing that comment. Everything that you wrote, I agree with. It's time for a break.

Sometimes it's okay to step back from running and evaluate where we are. I have to allow my mind, body, and spirit of to RELAX. I forget that I am not a "machine."

It was really good seeing you today. Thank you for your encouraging words.

You are a machine!!! But, even machines need a little break or they get overheated!
