We ran to fairmont and then we did 10 strides. After that we ran to Liberty where we got a drink and then Bill told me to start heading back the long way around. So I was alone all the way around Liberty, then they caught when I was at the light. Up the hill I was crashing. I need to work on running up big hills.
I was a little worried about my knee, but Bill said it's most likely IT band. |

AM:
I ran 2.5 with Olivia. Going up and down the same street gets really boring. PM: We did a mile warmup, mile speed changes, then Bill told us to do 400s until we could hit our times. So naturally, I thought "okay, go a little faster so that you make sure you hit it under." I had thought being too fast was gonna count. Nope. Pretty much everyone did that one too fast, then Bill said it didn't count. We had to hit 2 of them within 1 second of the time he gave us. I was supposed to hit 79s. I made sure I hit the next 2 because I really didn't want to do extra. My times went 76, 80, 80. Then we did cool down to get to 4.

Pre-footlocker Race (3.2 Miles) 00:21:48, Place overall: 48 | |
AM: Today was the Pre-Footlocker race. I did 1.25 miles warmup including strides. I got out too fast. I guess I was just in the mode for speed. I was in 2nd, then I crashed. Let's just say it didn't feel great. There was a lot of people who passed me that 2nd mile, and also the third mile, but not quite as many as the 2nd. It was so cold, and trying to make a move just seemed 10 times harder. It was probably just my mind getting to me. I threw in a couple speed changes whenever I felt good, but I had a hard time keeping that speed. I need to work on that. I did better than I thought. With all those people passing me, I guess I just assumed I was going slow. This course was over measured. I looked at my watch afterward, and the 3 mile mark was 20:52. It's still not as fast as settlement canyon, but it's better than pretty much all of my races in XC this season. Then I did .5 cool down. I probably should've done more. I don't remember what place I was, but I'm pretty sure it was around 48th. PM: I ran 2.75 miles

We ran to cottonwood complex and did 10 hill strides, then ran back along 9th to 9th then up the hill to the track. Going there I just focused on trying to stay with the group, after about 2.5 miles I started to fall off. But I still kept pushing, resisting the really strong urge to slow down. Then when we got there Anders and I nearly turned around and went back the same way, but then we saw Bill and Abigail. We waited a bit for everyone else to come. Then we did 10 strides up the hill right at the start of regions (just before roller-coaster) except not quite on the course. We jogged back down the hill for recovery. During these strides I didn't really want to do them and didn't have the greatest attitude, I was thinking about the way back and how horrible that was going to be. Then when Bill said I needed to "be the first girl" on the last 2, I realized what I was doing and pushed those last 2. Then we ran back a different way to make it flatter. Except for the big hill on 9th. (notice how there usually always is an exception?) I tried to catch the front group for a while, then stay with them once I did. I fell off of them though, but I forced myself to keep going and tried not to slow down. At first I hated everything because I really didn't want to do another 5.5 miles. But I decided to take 1 mile at a time, and that helped A LOT. I remember thinking "wow I'm already at 9.5 miles." When I saw the bridge I was so happy! Then just up to the track. Considering it was monday, I'm happy with this run.

| | SO I had an Orthodontist appointment... I was told to be dropped off at Liberty, so my mom dropped me off. Except I couldn't find anybody. I ran around Liberty for a while, then when I was sure no one from the team was there I started running back to the track. I had thought maybe they finished already and was hoping to catch Bill before everyone left. Nope, they hadn't even gotten to Liberty yet. I met them maybe halfway. Then ran back to liberty with them. We did 10 strides... all of that was about 3.5 miles. Then we did 6 800s. I was supposed to hit 3:00. I hit 3:01, 3:00, 2:58, 2:59, 3:04, 3:04. The last one was the hardest for me. We jogged back to the start as recovery between each one. We went back to the track. Did a grass lap once we got there. |

Today we did 2 grass laps of warmup and then we did the stair drill things where you go aroud the curve, do a drill for about 50 meters, then stride 50, then run around the curve and go up and down the stairs until you've made your way back to the start again. We did that for each drill. Then we did the VA loop to the cemetery and did a lap in there and went back the same way, then added on to get to 10 at the track. |

We went up to the track, finished off a mile then decided it was too snowy so we did a fartlek type of speed change workout along guardsman then down to 13th and along there to a crosswalk and turned around then went back to the school. |

| | We went to Liberty and ran to the drinking fountain, then went over to the mile mark. Then we did a 2 mile. I was supposed to hit 13:30. I hit 13:50. I tried to just hang on to Abigail for the whole thing, but after a mile I felt like I was stiffening up and i couldn't move. I would try to get myself moving, but my legs felt like they were going to fall off. It was cold! My calves gradually got tighter as I ran. When I stopped my calves hurt so bad!!! When I started running again just a little later for the recovery they got worse. I stopped about halfway to the mile mark to stretch them. oh they hurt so bad I wanted to scream! Then I got to the mile mark and realized I hadn't paid much attention to the instructions Bill gave us at the fountain...I didn't know what I was supposed to do after the 2 mile. So I just did a mile because I heard some people were doing that. Yeah, turns out some did a 2 mile. hmm well I know now to pay better attention. I finished at the 2 mile so I went to the drinking fountain and then got a drink and I could see Sarah and Megan, so I waited for them and we headed back. Then Bill and Abigail caught up to us so I went with them, and we added on a ton while trying to make lights and such, yet still ran up the hill... I didn't like that part. |

PM:
We went to the oval. We did 2 miles warmup then 1 mile speed changes. After that we did a recovery lap. Then we did 5 1000s. For recovery we ran to the starting line. I was supposed to hit around a 4:20 I think? Yeah, we went way too fast on the first one. I just tried to keep up with Abigail. I hit 3:36. The next one I think was a 3:42, then 3:47ish, 3:47 and 3:55. Then after that we did cool down backwards until the people got mad at us and told us to go the right way, so we did our last little bit going the right way to the 200 start. 10 miles |

| | We ran up to the track, then did a mile warmup, mile, speed changes, and then did a 200, 400, 400, 200, 200, 400, 400, 200. I was supposed to hit the 200s at 38, and the 400s at 80. I really wasn't feeling good and with each one felt more sluggish. I can't remember my times but I think I only hit one of the 400s and like 2 of the 200s. |

| | We went up to the trail by the zoo. We went to the watertank. On the way there about a mile in maybe I started to feel the way i normally do on mondays. But then to make it worse my calves were absolutely killing me!! When I got to the water tank Abigail and Emmaline were there. We stretched on top of the tank while we waited for the boys to come back. Then we did 8 800s on the trail switching off ways. We would go out 200 and back 200 as recovery for each. The first one I hit 4:05, going up that huge hill. 2nd one was around a 3:35??? I don't really know the exact times for most of them. Next was like 4:08, then around 3:45? 5 flat, (I quit on myself on the hill...) then Abigail left for work, and previosly Emmaline had left because her knee was hurting. Now it was just me with the boys. So Bill gave me a 15 second head start. I hit 3:19 I think we decided. Then on the way up I started to quit on myself again, but got myself to work through it eventually. Idk what I hit that time. Then I hit 3:19-3:20ish on the last one. Then we just ran back and did a lap around the field and the parking lot. That got me to 12. |

| | Natalie came today! :) We ran along 13th to South Temple, then went up to the cemetery in the Avenues and ran up Death hill. Then the groups split up, and I went with those going the longer distance. We ran to the City Creek trail, my first time running it. It had SO many hills and it got to the point where I just didn't want to do it anymore and I wanted to be done. I had decided that like halfway through the hills. It didn't help me out much. The hills were steep, and whenever I saw another one coming I crashed even more mentally. Now I'm worried for Footlocker, what if I crash like that??? Anyway, then we took the trail that eventually turned into the JCC trail. I was far behind the group, so when I got to where the trail forked, I just had to choose one and hope it was the right one. I figured it must be the one that went up, as much as I hated it. So I took that one, but when it just kept going up, and up, and up, I started to second guess. I stopped for a bit to see if I could hear the group, but I couldn't, then I just decided maybe a little further and I'll be there, and sure enough I was. Thank goodness I didn't turn around and see if they went on another trail... From then on I knew the trail well enough. It was JCC now. After a little bit I realized how slow I must be going, and so I decided to pick up the pace. I just told myself it would be easier if I went faster. Which it was. :) I caught up to Abigail and Ethan and stayed at their pace, then right before the trail ended Abigail picked up the pace by a lot, so I decided to go with her, especially since I've never actually known the right way to go from there. So I followed her. Turns out it wasn't the right way after all...we were apparently supposed to go to Shriner's and go that way back. |

| | Recovery run. The team met at Draper Park. Since it was all the way out there, I figured it must be an important run, so I was preparing for a nice 10 miler at least. Nope. We did a 5 mile loop then did 5 strides and called it good after we finished to 5.5. I got a little lost on the loop, but I went the right way. I didn't know where to go when Fort Street hit that busy road, and Bill wasn't behind me like I thought, so I didn't know if I took a wrong turn. Haha oh well. |

| | I tried to go to the race today, but I couldn't find a ride. So instead I did my own run. I went along 1500 E. to 2100 S, then down to 700 E. and then went to Liberty and went the long way around, up 9th to 13th, then to South Temple to 1100 E. and then to 13th S and up there then back home. :) I included hills without really meaning to... I didn't really think about where I was going until I actually ran. |

| | We met at Sugarhouse and did the cemetery loop. We did 2 laps in the cemetery and had to add on a road lap and another half mile when we were done with that to get to 10. It went by a lot faster than I thought it would! I also didn't crash as bad as I remember doing in the summer! I felt like it was a pretty good run. |

| | AM: We went to the oval... it was pretty early! Apparently going early doesn't necessarily mean no people in lane one...um, yeah there was a bunch of stuff in lane one because of the speed skaters. Really, how hard is it to keep only that one lane open? Can't you just back all that stuff up a few feet? Anyway, because of all that stuff it took just that much longer on the speed parts. We did 8 laps warmup, 4 laps speed changes, 1 lap to our stuff and changed shoes. Then we did a mile. I was supposed to hit 5:45ish. I hit 6:02. I was kinda using Abigail as a pacer, and I'm sure she was using me too, so yeah it was slow. It did feel slow and I think I could've done better than that. Then we did 2 800s, I was supposed to hit 2:45 I think? I hit 2:55, 2:52? Then we did a 400. I was supposed to hit 80-85. I think I hit 82ish? Then we did 300s. I hit 58, 57, 58, 56. Then we did cool down to 10. PM: I did 3.25. Gah I did my math wrong! Oh well. Just a quarter over. My legs felt heavy at the beginning but they gradually felt better as it went on. |

| | I was going to run this morning, but I couldn't find anyone who could come. And there's no way I was going by myself. We ran to the U track and then did a mile warmup, mile speed changes. Then we did an 800. I hit 2:51. Then we did a lap recovery. Then we did 4 400s, each with a lap recovery. I hit 81, 90, 85, and 86 I think. Then we did an 800 with a lap recovery. I don't remember that time. I think I would've done better if I had been in a better mood, and wasn't already thinking about negative things. On the 2nd 400 I quit mentally. When I saw Emmaline in front of me I guess I just gave up. I felt like I was working hard on most parts of it, but I just didn't come up with the times I wanted. Obviously on the 2nd 400 and last 800 I didn't. I got that feeling of nearly throwing up. So I guess that's good. But my abs also hurt, so I'm thinking that doing core is something that's actually necessary. I kinda haven't done it for like a month. And even then I only did it for 1 week. Maybe it's time to start again, and this time actually keep doing it... WE LEAVE FOR FOOTLOCKER ON WEDNESDAY!!! I AM SO EXCITED!!! |

| | We went to sugarhouse today. We did 400s on a hill thing, 4 of them. Then we did 4 hills on the really steep one. Then we did a 2 mile tempo. I was supposed to hit around a 14, but I hit 14:48. I kind of zoned out on it and didn't really focus on hitting my time, I should've done a better job of that. Then the girls left early, and I ran with Abigail on the way back. |

| | I love the lower elevation! Bill said we were only gonna run 4 miles. He had a route all planned out but when he let people get a head start they went the wrong way, so we had to follow them and turn them around. Then we went back towards the hotel and then started the run he had origionally planned, but then we found a trail and took that for a ways, then decided to keep going when it was time to turn around, and took that until it ended, then we found where it picked up again and basically took an adventure run back, somehow it was 4 miles close to the hotel. Then we went to Disneyland!!! :) |

| | I really don't know how much we ran, I'm guessing that we did a mile. We checked out the course and ran up the switchbacks then back down that hill that follows. It was so muddy!! It was like 2 inches thick on the bottom of my shoes! The switchbacks aren't as bad as I remember them being from last year...That's pretty good I guess! Then we went to the beach in the freezing cold rainy weather. But it was still fun :) |
