Doing a few more 1/2 marathons this year and continue to support new runners by running with them!

Personal:

Blessed to live in beautiful Fountain Hills, AZ during winter/spring months then in beautiful Idaho Falls, ID in the summer/fall months!  Thoroughly enjoy hiking, golfing, and running all year round (not into cold winter sports)! Married to Rob for 22 years ~ Two 19 year old college teens!

7:52 pace in 62 degrees - ran to elementary school to sign up for the PTO 5K run this weekend.  I've decided that my knee is too crunchy for PF Chang next weekend and although I'd prbably be fine, I'd want to beat last year's race time so therefore I think I'd mess up my knee!

Not sure place number but I THINK first in my age group.  This run offered medal for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place winners, not by age group.  Two girls were from the high school, the 2nd woman was close to my age (hard to guess) and I came in 4th for girls, yeah!

Fun run - look forward to doing it again next year!

Great run, even made it all the way El Lago hill and still had a pace of 8.24!  Overdressed ~ Rob swore I'd need running capris, I didin't!  48 degrees when I left, up to 52 when I got back.

Going out for a new hike this afternoon with the homeschool group, can't wait!

Hike was great, I got a better work-out than I thought, especially after carrying a 5 year old over a mile or so!

Awesome run today - Ran 3 miles up a grade/hill - it was awesome - Had a pretty good pace of 8.26 considering all the hills I did, thought I was running in slow motion in several spots.  Weather was amazing (sorry Jeff) - very comfy in shorts and tank top - 59 degrees when I left, I think 64 degrees for the day!

Come on down Jeff - you'd never want to leave. 50 degrees at the moment at 8:30 am, going out for a run as soon as I get the kids settled with math!

My knees are great, just loud and crunchy! Might try soaking and massaging them with peanut castor oil to loosen things up!

Remi just checked the 10 day forecast for IF, looks like more snow coming...

You should really check for southwest flights for a 3 or 4 day weekend from SLC, sometimes they have great deals!

The relay was a blast. We got a gal's husband who had run with us before to fill in. He did great. I don't know what place we took because they haven't put the results together. A participant was struck and killed by a vehicle and that messed everything up.

Yikes, with only 4 hours sleep last night and a windy, hilly run, I felt like I was running in slow motion.  My Garmin ran out of juice so I'm not sure what my pace was.  I may have gone a little further than 4 miles, I'll do the same route tomorrow with a fresh garmin batteries to check my mileage!

Enjoy that hike! Are you going up the face and down huckleberry or what? My family went on that hike a couple of years ago. All five of my kids were there!!!! Had to pack my son down that $^$&*^& mountain. He was 5 at the time. He fell asleep and woke up 20 minutes from the car! Have fun!

Thanks Jeff, it still hurts, yikes! I'm getting old, all I did was bend over to reach for a cleaning supply and when I stood up I felt something pull! Need to use my core better I guess. I just sent Kami some info. for your tummy issue you might want to try! Hope you're feeling better too! I've been awake since 2:30 so I'm off to the treadmill to do a little walking before sitting in the car to Yellowstone for the day which will NOT be good for my back. Rob had a good day but excited more for our Yellowstone trip today. See you in the morning...

Jeff, I'm so excited, the Dr. said it is not uncommon for my knees to be so crunchy and the little arthritis he saw isn't even the cause of it. He suggested I continue to do quad exercises, so I'm going to go to physical therapy to learn how to do those properly or at least find out if I'm already doing them correctly and have them give me a daily routine. My mind is at so much ease with getting the second opinion, thanks for asking!

Craziness!  I had a hard time sleeping because I was so excited to see how I'd do on this long run so I finally got up at 5am and went to the gym.  As soon as I started running I had a weird pain on the side of my left leg (guessing IT band) but stuck it out for the first 10 miles.  I then came home, took some ibuprofin, a GU and went outside for the last six which were a little better but a slower than normal pace at 9:23.  Geez, I really want to do the PF full in January so hopefully meeting with a phys. therapist on Monday will help the short time I have left to build up my quads.  I thoroughly enjoyed the run outside and could of kept going but could sure feel it after I stopped running!

Looking forward to a recovery run tomorrow to see how it all goes after sticking with ibuprofin today!

Great run! I have done long runs like that where you take a break after about 10 miles. There is nothing wrong with that. Good luck with your IT band. dont overstretch but ice is the key in my opinion. I love PF Changs race down there. I want to do it so bad. I did the full about 4 years ago. fun fun. Keep up the good work.

Thanks Walter, I haven't had time to look up how I'm supposed to treat, so I'm headed out to the sun and pool right this minute with an ice pack! I sure hope it doesn't slow me down, Jeff just suggested I up my week day runs so I sure hope I can!

Good job, Rachel. Icing is good, as well as a ITB stretch and try to roll it out. Rest tomorrow and see what the PT says. Running on the TM could have aggravated it as well.

I got confirmation from the RD that I am in, so I am going to book tickets this weekend based on my run today!

Thanks Jeff, I'm so aggravated about my knee I could cry, perhaps I can get some ultrasound therapy tomorrow too!

Since it hurt right away yesterday as soon as I got to the gym, it might have been the 7 miles intervals I did at the gym on Thurs., I really pushed myself hard but didn't have any pain on Friday, weird!

Had a very good phys. therapist appt. yesterday, learned a couple new stretches that will be great for me.  He suggested after two days off to try a run this morning, ran 4 miles but darn IT band started nagging me immediately and throughout the whole run. Doesn't hurt exactly just a dull ache, do I still keep running or skip more days or give up on the full PF Chang and stick with the full?  Very disappointed!

Stretch really good, roll it with a foam roller or other such item (even a frozen bottle of water) and take some ibuprofen and a couple of days off, then see how it feels. Sorry that it is still nagging you, let's see how it feels the end of the week and then discuss the options for PF Chang.

BTW, we bought tickets yesterday so here we come, thanks for your hospitality...we are looking forward to seeing all of you.

Worked out w/PT today doing a little TM & elliptical.  Could feel my IT band on TM but not elliptical, we're wondering if it's because I use the balls of my feet better than on the TM, hmmm - totally makes sense.  Was then able to run on the TM at a slower pace with keeping my mind on my feet and it felt better, might have to change up a little but not sure I can do that before PF Chang full, at least I can probably still do the 1/2 while figuring all this out!

Tried running outside today, IT Band is still not good at all which is so discouraging.  Doesn't hurt at all ever, unless I'm running!  I think I was only able to run a mile or less before feeling it but tried on and off for four miles!
