Running Accomplishments:

I have run 12 marathons, 5 since major surgery in 2005. My fastest was Leipzig in 1992. 3 hours 11 minutes 48 seconds. The Mesa-Phx Marathon on February 25, 2017 was the fastest since my surgery at 4:26:59.

Short-Term Running Goals:

I want to improve on my last Marathon time. After the Phoenix Marathon that I ran February 25, 2017 I want to focus on shorter races and do a sprint tri. I did improve about 45 minutes faster on the Mesa-Phx Marathon over the last Petrified Forest Marathon and about 27 minutes faster than the last time I ran the Mesa-Phx Marathon.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Continue to run and work on my speed. Do shorter races and a sprint tri in the next year.

Personal:

I have been an educator for 32 years. My wife, Margaret, and I have 6 children and at the present time 6 grandchildren. Running helps to keep me level. I love it and hope to continue to run for many years to come.

PM run. Ran two 3 mile with a break of about 10 min. In between. Both sets were 9:44 per mile. Ave HR were 132 and 134. Third and fourth miles were slowest at 10 and 10:26. Fastest was 9:18 with rest being clustered around 9:30 some faster some a little slower.

My heel spur is really hurting me. I am going to take some time off. I will walk and ride my bike as much as possible. It has been a week since I ran. Heel is feeling a little better but not enough to run. I will try again in another week. I can’t afford to have another surgery until next fall because of plans for the summer.
