Strength trained my biceps and triceps a bit. Then 21 minutes on the elliptical, not much and pointless I know.

Came home and ran 5.50 miles. I felt slow and sluggish. I know it was supposed to be a slower recovery run day but I am still so hard on myself when I look at my watch and see an 8 min pace. I need to get over the psychie of it. I couldn't figure out why I had no pick up. Until I stopped to fiddle with my ipod, and I realized my quads were quite sore from the track workout yesterday. duh me.....that's why I was sluggish today. But I still came home feeling like a loser. I would have run at least 2 more miles, but I had a meeting early this morning at my daughters school I had to be too. Maybe some more slower miles this evening. I hope.

You had a great workout yesterday - you should be tired! I always think about running slower this way - because I'm running slower, I'm on my feet longer and thus getting a more aerobic/endurance benefit. That 8 min barrier is mentally tough to get over though!

Nice job Lily! I used to be the same way if I saw a pace above 8ish but then I realized that was why I was constantly sore/achy/fatigued. Because I wasn't running enough slow recovery miles. Slower aerobic paced miles are a major part of the equation in my opinion. I love running slow now. ha!

I ran 10 miles @ 8:22 pace this morning and felt fantastic about it. There are a lot of little benificial things that go on in your body while doing slow runs. Let the fast days be super fast and the slow days be slow.

I totally have this issue (not as much now that I'm so slow) I think when I start running faster again I'm not even going to bring my watch with me on recovery days!
