14 miles & I hate golds gym.

** more added info just for Rob :) **

So the last few days I have been taking fake energy before leaving my house to run. And it has proved to be helping. Now don't worry, I don't plan to make this a long term habit, just a short term thing since my energy has been so low. I blame it on sleepless nights I am having due to kids, stress and the anxiety I seem to get this time of year. This weather blows. It gives me anxiety-which can come and go. However the silver lining is that when Spring starts coming around, it makes me so happy and I appreciate it all the more.

This mornings run was very effective and yes, far. I ran 4 miles and stopped, went over to the weights and lifted for 10 minutes. Came back and ran 10 more miles with my good friend Julie. My pace varies as I do intermingle speed work into my runs a lot. So here's an idea of what I did today, and do a lot of the other days. I start off at a 8 min mile pace. I hold that for about a mile, and turn it up to a 7:50 pace. Hold that for a mile and turn it up again until I am at about a 7:40 pace for a while. Then around 30 minutes into my run, I start doing speed intervals. to a 6:15 pace for 1-1 1/2 minutes then back down to a 7:30 pace. This cycle continues for about 25 minutes. Then I take it to a 7:25 pace and hold it there for the remainder of my run. However long that may be exactly varies from day to day. I like doing this. Sometimes my body gets too use to doing this, so I have to change things. That is when I resort to eliptical hell. Which I will probably do all next week and change things up. It also gives my feet and joints a pounding break of sorts. But, I love running, in any form. I always tell people that I will run until the I am old and absolutely cannot do it anymore. I will probably enter races until that time too. :)

I do work my core nearly everyday as well. Because of this, I think I have some nice cut-not perfect, but pretty darn good for a girl who's been prego 4 times. :)

Happy Tuesday all.

You seem to be missing a fundamental part of "Blogging" You're suppose to write words, which you've done, followed by other words, which you're missing.

So since you left it open, "What is wrong with Golds?" Not that I disagree, I would never go any place other than LifeTime even now that it's 30 minutes out of my way for work.

Rob you're right. I need to start writing more. I will go back in and add a little more information after this comment.

So the reason I am not liking Gold's lately is because they are not maintaining our gym the way they should be. A lot of the good treadmills (they have 2 different types-but same brand, one does not have a flex deck and those hurt!) are not being maintained and they all have issues and everyone fights over them. Some won't maintain the faster speeds making it hard to hit 6 min miles doing speed work. Just frustrated with them. But, I have a lot of good friends and I love to see them all everyday. Gold's is just cheap, does not care about it's members at times and it makes me upset. I am not the only one who thinks this. They maintain the Gold's gyms to the north of us very well. Both Orem's gyms, the AF gym and SL county gyms seem to be in better shape. Maybe I am wrong?

Thanks Lily. Hope I didn't make you feel bad, it's mostly my own selfishness that I want people to say more. I'm sitting in a Paris Hotel in a dark dingy conference room for 12 hours a day and FRB and Facebook are the only things I have exciting going on.

I know, it's a sad and pathetic existance.

Sorry about your crappy gym, I think LT Fitness is very nice but even their treadmills are starting to get run down. They are always reseting on me during speed work. We are just to dang fast I guess. :)

Rob PV me your last name and I'll add your to FB and maybe keep you entertained in your dank day in Paris today :)

And no worries, I don't feel bad. You were right, I do need to add more info. Sometimes I am a little hesitant because I am afraid people will pick me and my routine apart or criticize me. I need to get over that unwarranted fear.

Strong miles over two days. I think if you are going to run that far on a TM, doing it the way you did it was smart - run some, do something else, run some more.

lily - very interesting post. i am glad that rob coaxed some more words out of you this morning :)

i think your TM routine and switching things up with the weights/ellipitcal/varying speeds, etc. is a great way to train, and it obviously works for you. your dedication motivates me.
