I just want to highlight a couple things for me to rememember.  Basically did no speed or tempo work as I got ready for this marathon.  Longest training run was around 19.5 and I did this about 2 times.  Most of my other long runs were in the 17-18 range.  However, I was pretty consistent in running since about mid-December in getting ready for this race.  I basically fell apart on the last of the Newton Hills.  I was hoping if I was conservative enough at the beginning that I would be able to hang on and finish strong, but that was not the case.  Splits:  7:33, 7:32, 7:33, 7:24, 7:34, 7:26, 7:59 (bathroom stop), 7:33, 7:40, 7:36, 7:36, 7:35, 7:41, 7:45, 7:58, 7:49, 8:13, 8:09, 8:02, 8:28, 9:51, 8:54, 9:33, 9:25, 9:28, 10:08, 3:22    From the Boston website:  5K 23:33, 10K 46:56, 15K 1:11:07 20K 1:35:01 Half 1:40:14 25K 1:59:32 30K 2:25:04 35K 2:52:55 40K 3:22:39

This was the 7th time I've run this race since 2011.  Three of the seven have been tough ones for me.  However, the experience is awesome and I'm glad I've done it.  A couple of other notes:  took the red-eye and arrived Friday morning.  Flew home early Tuesday morning.  Rained like crazy on my walk from the hotel to get the bus to Hopkinton.  Didn't feel a rain drop once I arrived in Hopkinton or during the race.  Felt a little muggy while running, but not too bad.  Got sunburned way more than I would have expected.

I was swearing off all marathons during the last 5 miles of this race.  If I'm going to do another marathon I need to get ready for it.  Sludging through the last 5 miles of a marathon is miserable to me.
