"Engaging in a little suffering — however self-imposed, arbitrary and contrived — before breakfast each morning tends to demand some humility and injects some marked relief into the rest of the day, making things sharper, more inspired, more immediately aware of the powerful presence of being. And that seems really worthwhile." A. Krupicka
"I cruised down hills, churned up hills, and floated over the asphalt, existing in a world that seemed to lack the confinements of such ubiquitous rivets as time, obligation, or pain. I knew then that this was destined to be one of those serendipitous runs for which so many of
us strive yet so rarely achieve." J. Nevels

| | 13.1 miles - Chandra and i decided to run the Heber Valley Half Marathon the day AFTER the race, which was great because the port-o-potties were still out on the course and oh man what a beautiful place for a run! the start is around 8900 ft and drops to around 5700 ft at the finish. giant downhill for the first half of the run then rolls and flat to the finish. so i got to strengthen my downhill legs today. even though the first miles were downhill we kept it pretty slow around 9:20 + per mile then sped up the last half around 8:40's. ended up with an 8:56 avg for the run. good times!
note: kudos to the race organizers for cleaning up the course so well after yesterdays race, i didn't see even one gel pack, cup or litter of any kind.
830am - sun, mid 50's to mid 60's, a real nice head breeze for most of the run which felt pretty good.

| | 4 miles - lobster/crestview - slow recovery jog. my quads and glutes feel bruised, like bruised to the touch, but by the fourth mile things started to loosen up and feel a lot better so i'm glad i got out today. slow. me and the 10 minute guy were neck and neck at the finish line.
7:45am - overcast, upper 60's nice breezes (and a pretty good gust blew through at one point almost stopping me in my tracks)
