"Engaging in a little suffering — however self-imposed, arbitrary and contrived — before breakfast each morning tends to demand some humility and injects some marked relief into the rest of the day, making things sharper, more inspired, more immediately aware of the powerful presence of being. And that seems really worthwhile." A. Krupicka

"I cruised down hills, churned up hills, and floated over the asphalt, existing in a world that seemed to lack the confinements of such ubiquitous rivets as time, obligation, or pain. I knew then that this was destined to be one of those serendipitous runs for which so many of
us strive yet so rarely achieve." J. Nevels

An even better question is where are all the people that used to comment on all those posts and make this blog an interesting place to be?

i don't even know the 2009 version of myself. up at 4am to enthusiastically run up hills in ice with no breakfast or coffee? nah. no. not me. never again.

that was the year you could go to pretty much any blog and find a long/insightful/fun/ridiculous conversation. times, how they change.

glad you enjoyed a walk. hope you are enjoying all that snow as well. :)

thanks you guys!

ha yes there was a lot of activity here on the blog for a few years it seems. maybe the rise in all the multitudes of social media took everyone away. i know that i have spent less time on the blog as i've cut way back on running the last several years but this year is looking like a "run year" for me finally as i'm feeling like building some mileage into my life again. i'll try to spice up my posts as i document my old man, midpack journey into the mileage base abyss. look out! fifty mile weeks ahead! lol

allie - hoping to enjoy sliding down a snowy mountain soon!

AND i should also mention that i've been following your blogs most of the time and am inspired by your continued commitment and dedication to the run - and to life in general

Hey all! I am another old timer who was a little more of a lurker than a participant, but I miss the frequent and regular commentators, too.

I've been reading old blog notes lately, too. I don't have to go all the way back to 2009 to find a faster version of me, though. That guy did well as recently as 2014!

Like you, I've been laying low for a while, and logging noncommittal miles. I've done nothing too long, fast, or interesting. I'm going to try to make that different this year. Good luck this year to you!
