Olympic Trials Qualifier

Running Accomplishments:

2 x Deseret News 10k winner

3 x All-American at BYU (back in the day)

10 x state champion in high school (way back in the day!)

3 x USA team member

Short-Term Running Goals:

I would like to run an Olympic Trials Qualifier in the marathon.

I would also like to run on one more international team before I pack it in!

 Stay healthy!  (My biggest challenge!)

Long-Term Running Goals:

Run my whole life, and then live vicariously through my children. (just kidding) , but I do want to pass on a healthy lifestyle to them.

Help coach East High to a state championship. (hope it doesn't take a lifetime!)

Personal:

I've been running since I was nine.  I'm married to a fellow runner who inspires and supports me.  We have two children:  Cole (4) and Lily (18 mos.)  I help Bill Cobler coach cross country at East High School.

Workout with Tee. 3 mile warm up 2 x 200. 6 x 1000 with 400 recovery. 3:44,3:38, 3:37, 3:38, 3:37, 3:32. First track workout in a looooooong time. 3 mile cooldown. Under control, but sore from yesterday.

Nice long run this morning, with a few faster paced miles toward the end. Shoulda done 16 to get 60 for the week. Nah. Didn't feel like it. But, first full week in a while. Three double digit days! Was supposed to run a long workout with Tee. 8 mile marathon paced tempo and 3 x 1 mile. Warmed up down to the River Trail 2 miles. Started tempo. Trail was dark and a bit slick. After 3.5 miles, I suggested we go on the road. Tee said her Achilles tendon hurt too badly to continue the tempo. We ran five miles back on 7th west. Tee was hurting badly by the time we got back. I ran two miles home for twelve total.

Trying to get back on track. Tempo workout on treadmill. 1.5 mile warm up. Goal was 3x 15 minutes with 2-3 minute recovery. Did the first 15 minutes at 9.5,9.6,and 9.7 mph (switching every five minutes.) Started next set at 9.7 mph and jumped every five minutes. I felt good at fifteen minutes, so decided to run a full 30 minutes. I continued to increase the pace. I finished the last couple of minutes at 10.3 mph. Cooldown to 10

Almost gave up after the warmup, but the weather held, so I stuck it out. 20 minute warm up. 20 x 1 minute on/off. Didn't cool down. Off to the gym for strength class. 6:53 average.

I took a 90 minute UJAM/Zumba class last night, which was a blast, but contributed to tired legs this morning. I ran 16 of Tee's 22 miles with her. She ran six alone. We ran 8 together, tempo ran 5, (6:29,6:31,6:29,6:22,6:19) and finished the last 3. It was pretty tough, but I was happy with it. I need a couple recovery days now.

I finally topped the 60 mile mark! Yay for consistency!
