Tabernacle to Nearly Second Dam via Old Main and upper canal trail.

At least the upper canal trail is clear of snow and ice!  River Trail is not safe.  Need traction definetly!  The bummer deal was my knee started to hurt again for the last 3 miles.

I just noticed the heart rate data. Have you always been a heart rate monitor guy?

Sorry about the knee Cody. As a coach, I'm always puzzling over why some of my runners get injured and some don't. Sometimes the reasons are obvious, but sometimes they aren't.

Would you say you get injured more or less now as compared to when you were mostly doing road running?

Not saying you're injured now. I have perpetually achy knees and I don't consider myself injured. Just old.

Rob. I just recently got a watch with a hr monitor and I am very interested in feedback about how hard I am actually working. HR doesn't lie. I think it will help me do better at the longer races where I tend to go out too hard. We will see. At least now I know about how long I can maintain a certain heart rate range.

I am certain some runners were just naturally better at injury immunity. I am not one of those runners. I get injured EVERY winter. While this one is minor still I usually am out about a month every winter. I blame it on too much road running. I do more road running in the winter. I can do so much more volume and not get hurt when I can run on trails. Less repetitive motion and more lateral movement. I also have huge muscle imbalances that cause most of my injuties. I am not able to get that resolved. My quads are way too strong compared with my hammies.

Any tips for that?
