6.5 a.m. loop

6.7 p.m. speed work

Tonight I went to the track with Mik'L to do some 800's. We show up and the high school football team was having a practice game with the lights on and around 100 people in the stands, so I decided to give them a real show.

Each 800 I ran was a little slower than it should have been due to me having to run around people on the track. I had planned on doing 5 but the last two I did the congestion just kept getting worse so I only did 4x800 with 800 jog in between. 2 mile warm up- mile and some cool down.

1- 2:31 1:17/1:14

3- 2:35 1:20/1:15

4- 2:35 1:18/1:17

Pretty good workout. I need to find a lonesome track to do speed work. I'm not really into running with a bunch of football players, coaches, officials, and parents watching me.

Hey Clyde, Way to go with the speed-work. Next time you go give me a call.

I really need to start doing some speed.

Are you feeling tight at all today?

Steve- I'm not too bad this morning. I went out for 7 this moring and seemed to feel pretty go.

Hope to get a good workout tonight with the club.

I don't have any saved runs from that link.

Anyways see ya tonight.

Good splits. Is there a 5 K race anywhere nearby whose length you can trust? It would be nice to see what you can do in a 5 K right now.

I think there is one down here this weekend for the fair. I just don't know that I want to run it. There are some fast 5k guys that will hand me my butt, and I don't know if my ego can take it. I'll think about it.

Good job on the workout, I must have missed your wife, I'll have to get my stuff maybe tomorrow sometime. I don't think I will be there to run with the club tonight. The high school has their first meet tonight up in Cedar around 6:00 pm. I have been struggling running this week, really feeling tired and unmotivated. Maybe the next few days will go a little better, and once school starts next week I'll get back into a better groove.

Clyde - ego problems are not good. They have killed many good runners in the past, and will kill more. I hope you are not going to be the next victim.

You should not be afraid of your competition even if they are stronger. The first step to becoming as fit as they are is remove the fear and the feeling of inferiority. In fact, you may want to try going out with somebody a class above just to see what it feels like, and then hang on to the finish once/if you get dropped.
