Last run before the marathon. I'm in a zone, can't wait until Saturday. Can't decide if I should run conservative the first half or not, we'll see how I feel race day.

New Marathon PR 2:45:09!!!!! Ran way too conservative. Felt like I should have gone 2to3 minutes faster.

No running the following week of a marathon for me. I'm Allowing my body to recover fully as to not suffer possible injuries.

First run sense the Marathon on the 7th. I'm going to take it easy and see how everything has healed. I'm itching to start speed workouts again, but I guess I'm supposed to take it easy for a couple of weeks right?

Well I did it, my first run sense the marathon! I felt really good, probably the best I've felt after any marathon. I first 1 1/2 miles I didn't even fell sore. The last few were a little tight, but smooth. I felt like I could have ran them at race pace, so I did, the last two.

Thanks for the advice Sasha and for the welcome to the blog, this is a really great running tool.

Thanks For the welcome Dustin, I'm going to have to start watching for you.

Second run sense marathon, I felt a little stiff from yesterday, but no injuries. I didn't feel as good as yesterday, so I didn't push the pace. I'll get all that lactic acid out of my system before I worry about speed. It was a nice easy 5 followed by 3 miles pushing the baby jogger while running with my wife. It was cold this morning, with a little snow! It was the first time in a long time that I had to bust out my winter running gear.

I'm pretty limited to my running routes because of the place I live. 100% of my running is on asphalt, because everything else is sand. I'm talking sand dunes. I run the sand dunes every now and again, but I stick to the road for the most part.

The one road that runs in front of my house, is an out and back run for me every day. I run uphill going out and down coming back. It gets a little boring running the same route every day, but I stay motivated by my long term goals.

Todays run consisted of a 2.5 mile uphill run, followd by the 2.5 mile slightly down hill back home. Going out was faster then yesterday, but I felt like a slug and had a hard time breathing. Coming back was great as it normally is. I pushed the last half a little and was able to comfortably run at about a 1/2 marathon pace, which is probably max threshold for me about now (5:45).

I was slightly stiff most of the day from yesterdays run. I guess maybe I pushed those last few miles a little too hard. Maybe I better take it easy the rest of the week and just focus on healing myself.

Today I did an easy 5 miles. I started out pretty stiff. By about 1.5 I was loose and then stiffened up a little from 4 to 5.

I can't wait to get back into my regular routine.

Did an easy 5 miles, felt a lot better then yesterday. I could still sense the post marathon tightness. I think I'll take Sasha's advice and gradually work back into this. The mind is willing, but the body say's " Hey, I'm not ready, your going to hurt yourself!"

After the easy 5, I went out again with my wife and pushed the baby jogger, to log another easy 3 miles. The 3 with her felt a lot smoother and helped loosen me up. Total 8 miles.

I felt a little guilty about not running last Saturday. I had to get up way early and worked way late because of the deer hunt. I'm in law enforcement, so when the rest of the world plays, I get to work for the most part.

I did an easy 7:30 minute mile for 6 miles with my dog. I then did another 3 miles with my wife, while pushing the baby jogger. The dog put in another 3 as well.

I felt pretty good and could have easily pushed the pace a lot faster, but I'll give it another week of easy running to curb any post marathon injuries.

I set my garmin "or the Toy as Sasha calls it" to Virtual Partner for the first time in 2 years. I set it at an 8 minute mile so I would beat it for sure, and it felt pretty good.

I let the dog take a break today and ran 6 miles without him. The run felt smooth and effortless, so I pushed the last 3 about 1 minute per mile faster.

I did another 3 with the misses pushing the baby jogger. I let the dog run with us at a slower pace. Total of 9.11

Pretty much the same run today as yesterday. The first 6 I did with the dog, who I almost tripped on and had to hurdle. It was cold and raining a little, which made me push just a little on the way home. The run again felt smooth and effortless. I think I'll be ready next week for a little speed.

Did another 3 with my wife and kid. I wonder if the extra 3 I do with her help or not. The pace is so slow I wonder at time, but it's 3 more then I would have gone otherwises and it gives us a chance to talk. Total 9.11 miles

Good run, just me and the dog. Felt great. I did everything I could to hold back the pace, but it felt so effortless I couldn't resist. Total of 6 miles.

Another good run, cold and windy this morning. The last two miles coming home I didn't mean to run fast, it just kind of came natural and easy.

I think I'll be all healed and ready for some speed by next week.

Did an additional 3 with my wife while pushing the baby jogger. Total of 9 miles for me and the dog.

Another finished week of running. It's a great feeling knowing that I ran 6 days and now I have one off. It was a great week. I'm fresh and feel like I could have gone much faster and farther. That's how I want to feel right now, because I plan on gradually building my base to about 20 miles farther a week then I once was. I'll do it slow, as to remain rested and fresh.

Ran 8.05 with the dog this morning. Felt smooth. It's uphill on the way out, so my time is always slower going out. It was blowing hard on the way out this morning as well.

Finally figured out how to set and view individual miles on Garmin. I think it was a little off going out.

Mile 1 8:14

2 7:51

3 7:32

4 7:17

5 7:12

6 6:50

7 6:36

8 (1.05) 5:54

Surprisingly good run this moring. I ate some junk Sunday, so I figured I would suffer on my run today. I think having Sunday off and not running very fast for a few weeks left me feeling pretty fresh.

Mile 1 in 7:26 (8:14 last Saturday)

Mile 2 in 7:06

Mile 3 in 6:45

Mile 3.5 in 3:18 (6:36pm)

Mile 4.5 in 6:23

Mile 5.5 in 6:14

Mile 6.5 in 6:05

Last .52 in 3:05 (5:56pm) Total 7.02 miles.

Did another 3.02 with my wife while pushing the baby jogger. Total of 10.04 miles for the day. Longest the dogs ever ran. He's a short legged dog and was dragging pretty bad at mile 5.5. I don't feel bad for him. I'd be happy if I had two extra legs to help me out with my runs.
