Short-Term Running Goals:

2024 GOALS:

to not get fat

Long-Term Running Goals:

Continue running as often as I can, as far as I can, as fast as I can. Teaching my kids (by example) the rewards that come from putting in the work. Very slowly get to 50 states.

Personal:

I'm married, with two sons, 17, and 19.

I started running because someone dared me to.

I ran my first race 3 days after my 40th birthday. (Disney)

7.75 miles. Hood Route to legacy trail over SWOM bridge and back. 82 deg., 72% hum., 72 d.p.

I had to make an emergency bathroom stop @ 2.5 miles in at a contruction site POP on the north side of Laurel road. After that I ran on the north side of laurel road for a bit. The people with houses backing up to laurel road on the north side have a bunch of jasmine along their back fences. My whole (12 year?) running career, I have been running on the south side of laurel road. On the south side of laurel road there are 3 wastewater lift stations. The difference in fragrance from one side of the road to another is striking.

7.75 miles. Hood route to legacy trail over the SWOM and back. So much construction trucks parked on the sidewalks made me switch up directions on the way home. 86 deg. 73% hum., 76 d.p. I'm soaked.

7.75 miles. Hood route to legacy trail over the SWOM and back. More construction today. All routes have problems.  84 deg. 74% hum., 75 d.p.

About 100 yards into the run, a homeless couple were screaming profanities at each other in the middle of the sidewalk I was running on. I saw this coming and I decided to just cross the street and run on the non-sidewalked side of the street. Conflict avoidance. You would think the way I write about the homeless population here, that we have a problem like Venice CA. There's really not that many homeless here. They just like to have really loud arguments where I run.

5 on the trails at noon. 86 deg., 72% hum., 76 d.p., "feels like" 98. Most of my thoughts were about a project at work. I didn't really notice the heat until I stopped moving.

7.5 miles. 4 on the trails. Then 3.5 miles. Hood route. I started on the trails because I had duck eggs for breakfast for the first time, and it kind of made me feel queasy and tired.

First week of 40+ miles this year. I'm glad, but that's poor performance for me.
