Short-Term Running Goals:

2024 GOALS:

to not get fat

Long-Term Running Goals:

Continue running as often as I can, as far as I can, as fast as I can. Teaching my kids (by example) the rewards that come from putting in the work. Very slowly get to 50 states.

Personal:

I'm married, with two sons, 17, and 19.

I started running because someone dared me to.

I ran my first race 3 days after my 40th birthday. (Disney)

5.2 Miles. Ringling Bridge. 5:40 pm start. 38:09. 7:20 pace. 83 deg. 57% hum.  67 d.p. Decent run. The charter boats killed it out there today! They were cleaning a lot of Grouper and Snapper!

Last day of school. On a Monday?! That is so dumb! Don't get me started...Anyhow, that means this:

7.5 miles. Hood Route to Legacy Trail and back. 5:30 am start. 59:45. 7:58 pace. 72 Deg. 78% Hum. 64 D.P. I ran through a spider web @ mile 5 that almost threw me backwards. Heinous.

So, one of the "cool kids" from Sarasota ran the Comrades Marathon in Africa last weekend. It is @ 56 miles of hilly madness. Sure, it is net downhill, but so was Boston, and that was completely misleading. They have bouncers that stop folks from crossing the finish line, if they miss the cut off. Anyhow, the medal is the size of a quarter. I think the medal size should directly correspond to the level of difficulty of the race. My local flat 5k should have a quarter-sized medal. The Comrades Marathon should have a frisbee-sized medal, that annoys everyone who sees it, and forces them to refer to you as "Flavor Flav." Just my opinion.

5.2 Miles. Ringling Bridge. 5:40 pm start. 39:19. 7:34 pace. 84 deg. 58% hum.  68 d.p.

I just realized I posted this on Tuesday, instead of Wednesday. Oops.

7.5 miles. Hood Route to Legacy Trail and back. 5:30 am start. Untimed. 75 Deg. 89% Hum. 72 D.P. I wish I had timed this one. It felt really comfortable. ( I made a point to keep clear of the spider webs from yesterday. Like, 10'+ clear. What, are they going to jump out and get me?)

4.6 Miles. Ringling Bridge. 5:40 pm start. Untimed. 84 deg. 65% hum.  71 d.p. A helicopter flew very close to the bridge as I was running over. WAY TOO CLOSE, man!

20.75 miles. Legacy Trail to Caspersen Beach and back. 7:15 am Start. Ugly miles. Stopped at halfway for a bathroom break. Never really got things back together after that. Ran out of water after 16 miles. If I'm going to continue to run this long on Saturdays, I'm going to have to start earlier. That sun was just plain mean!
