Long-Term Running Goals:

Continue running as often as I can, as far as I can, as fast as I can. Teaching my kids (by example) the rewards that come from putting in the work. Very slowly get to 50 states.

Personal:

I'm married, with two sons, 15, and 17.

I started running because someone dared me to.

I ran my first race 3 days after my 40th birthday. (Disney)

There was an all-day Surf and skimboard competition at North Jetty that John was at. I went for a run during the morning part of that event. They had the awards on the island of Venice and after I dropped John off I remembered that this is a circus town. I pulled up at an intersection and the car next to me was full of clowns. Literal clowns. Red ball noses Etc. Besides every other thing around here being named Ringling you forget how much circus history is in this place.

4 on the trails. I also started doing some core work a few days ago, in preparation for the upcoming snowboard trip. If you've seen a guy struggle to get up after strapping in his back boot after he gets off the lift, you know it is really embarrassing. I don't want to look like a turtle trapped on my back, trying to get up on my feet out there.

First 30 mile week this year? Whoa. Worse than that. It's only my 2nd 30 mile week since I ran MedCity last Sept. 12! Wow, I am off track!

I forgot to mention something notable that happened on yesterday's run. There's a woman that lives on my my street. She looks to be early 60's, and does all of her yardwork in a bikini. The boys and I refer to her as "Bikini Lady." She cuts her grass in flip flops and a bikini. Pressure washes her driveway in a bikini. Is on a ladder cleaning her gutters in a bikini. Goes on bike rides in a bikini. One time we were driving by, and she was on top of a ladder in the back of a pickup truck, with a pole saw, pruning trees in a bikini. I guess I'm more concerned from a OSHA standard than anything. So back to yesterday - Behind her house next to the sidewalk that starts my hood route runs is a shadow box fence - the kind that if you look right at it you can't see through, but on a 45 degree angle, the fence is useless. So as I was running by she was walking around her pool completely naked. I don't think I've ever seen a naked person while I was out running before. But I started thinking that at least she wears the bikini in the front yard. Today starts consectutive runs without seeing naked people. Today is 1.

Also, current running streak started Jan 18th. 1 month of running. I don't feel any faster, or healthier, but I guess that's something. I've proven that I am capapble of running every day. I need to step up the distance and intensity.
