Favorite Running Quotes:

1.

"Sooner or later the serious runner goes through a special, very personal experience that is unknown to most people.

Some call it euphoria. Others say it's a new kind of mystical experience that propels you into a elevated state of consciousness, a flash of joy.

A sense of floating as you run. This experience is unique to each of us, but when it happens, you break through a barrier that separates you from casual runners. Forever. And from that point on, there is no finish line. You run for your life. You begin to be addicted to what running gives you."

~Nike Poster

2.           A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

Lao-Tzu

You’ve no doubt heard this.  And you’ve probably recited it in your mind on a run or at the gym when you’re just beginning to get in shape.  You have a goal in sight and this quote brings you back to the current moment.

But the problem is that many runners forget all of the steps between the first one and the goal.  If your goal is to run under two hours for the half marathon then you need to be honest about all of the little steps to get to that goal.

…and what I’d rather see you do is to get the goal out of mind completely, but rather focus on the process, not the outcome. -Jay Johnson Process orientation, not outcome orientation.

You should have goals, but you should take it one step at a time.  And you should be honest about the fact that you don’t know how many steps it will take to get there. ~ Vernon Gambetta

3.  Human beings are made up of flesh, blood and a miracle fiber called COURAGE! ~ George Patton

4.   Find the courage to be patient.

So glad to be back on a regular training schedule..I was getting antsy!

I ran 1.6 miles to the gym.  Lifted legs, did hip stuff, and foam rolled.  Ran 1.6 home.  I was a half a mile from my house (right in the middle of all the road construction) and totally tripped and fell.

It was 10.0 on the ugly scale!  Granted it was pitch dark and the road is totally uneven and full of gravel and construction stuff - but it was ugly!  I'm glad there was no cars to run over me.  I totally ripped a hole in my favorite 3/4 length tights and scrapped up my hands, knee and hip bad.  My knee is still very tender.

Honestly, I am a walking tornado!  All I want to do is run...no injuries, no trips...just run!

Down farmhill road

Perfect weather this morning - I LOVE running in the fall!  I wore a head lamp after yesterday's adventure.  My knee is super bruised and tender to the touch, but I was able to run on it.  Same with my hand and hip.

Felt good to go farther this morning.  I did lunges for 2 houses on the way out and way back.  Foam rolling, hip exercises and stretching.

I went to bed last night at 9:18pm - I woke up feeling totally refreshed.  I need to do that more often!

I ran the same route as yesterday, but ran up the hill instead of down the hill and I ran it faster today.  Interesting.  I felt really great on my run today.  I'm not sure "how" I am suppose to get back into training.  Do I do 10% increase - or just go back to what my mileage was?

2 houses of lunges on the way out and the way back.  Foam rolled and hip exercises.

Rest day tomorrow!

300 N to temple route

AP:  9:10

9:34, 9:21, 9:06, 9:07, 2:52

Perfect weather this morning!  I wanted to do 4 miles and was afraid I was going to be short, so I added a loop around the temple.  I stopped around mile 2 because the top of my foot was bothering me.  I took off my shoe and rubbed it for a minutes and then finished the run.  It ached during the day.

Not sure what I should do, but am frustrated.

AF Creek trail to Art Dye Park

43:20

AP: 8:36 8:52, 9:03, 8:42, 8:22, 8:01

We went camping last night and I didn't get out on the road until 11:00am. And it was WARM! Hooray for the drinking fountains still being turned on at Art Dye. I ran much faster than I usually do. I think because it was light out and I wasn't dog tired!

My legs felt heavy and my right foot was still bugging - 4/5 metatarsal area. It felt ok during the run, but after the run it really started to ache. Maybe too much too soon. Ugh....

I think I will take the next few days off.  I am not training for anything special and would rather rest now, then have an injury later.  Actually, I would like to have a personal medical staff to tell me what to do.
