Favorite Running Quotes:

1.

"Sooner or later the serious runner goes through a special, very personal experience that is unknown to most people.

Some call it euphoria. Others say it's a new kind of mystical experience that propels you into a elevated state of consciousness, a flash of joy.

A sense of floating as you run. This experience is unique to each of us, but when it happens, you break through a barrier that separates you from casual runners. Forever. And from that point on, there is no finish line. You run for your life. You begin to be addicted to what running gives you."

~Nike Poster

2.           A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

Lao-Tzu

You’ve no doubt heard this.  And you’ve probably recited it in your mind on a run or at the gym when you’re just beginning to get in shape.  You have a goal in sight and this quote brings you back to the current moment.

But the problem is that many runners forget all of the steps between the first one and the goal.  If your goal is to run under two hours for the half marathon then you need to be honest about all of the little steps to get to that goal.

…and what I’d rather see you do is to get the goal out of mind completely, but rather focus on the process, not the outcome. -Jay Johnson Process orientation, not outcome orientation.

You should have goals, but you should take it one step at a time.  And you should be honest about the fact that you don’t know how many steps it will take to get there. ~ Vernon Gambetta

3.  Human beings are made up of flesh, blood and a miracle fiber called COURAGE! ~ George Patton

4.   Find the courage to be patient.

4:45am and I am on my way to gym....way to early to be up to be doing ANYTHING!  Oh well...the run is done and I am on my way to take a nap!

I felt good this morning, but want to try and get more of my runs outside.

This snow needs to go away!

I dropped my little one off at preschool and ran from the school.  It was a bit chilly..mostly a slight breeze and drizzle.  My first half of the run, I really seemed to struggle.  Huffing and puffing....it took forever.

At 3 miles, I stopped to look at a text I had received and dropped my phone.  It totally busted.  NICE!  The way back was so much easier.  Must be a mental thing.

Got gas at Costco and noticed I had a flat tire.  So the nice man in the tire department fill it for me.  I went across the street to Big-O and they  pulled out a screw.  While we waited, I went to the ATT store and got a new phone.

What a day!

TIME: 52:07 (AP 8:49) 9:31 BIG LONG HILL, 9:16, 8:46, 8:35, 8:18, 7:38 (8:25 pace)

Weird thing about this run, is that I've run it several times before and it has always been 6 miles.

Beautiful weather, nice easy recovery run and 6 miles doesn't seem "long" anymore.  My right hip and piriformus has been bugging me today.  I know how to stretch it, but I'm trying to figure out what causes it.  Fast or down hill runs maybe.

I'm hoping to get on my bike tomorrow in addition to my run.

RUN: 4 miles 36:11 (AP 9:06) 9:19, 9:22, 8:46, 8:42

I dropped my little one off at preschool and ran from the school.  But I did a new route today.  I don't think I will be doing it again.  There was 1 mile of straight uphill.  It was suppose to be an easy day!

Oh, my hips have been hurting.  It woke me up last night.  I've got to go to the chiro on Monday!

After I picked up my little one and dropped her off at cousins house, I went and rode part of the mini-sprint course.  Lots of bikers out today.  There was a big track meet at UVU...so fun to see all the runners.  I really stink at biking!

12 miles (my farthest run this year)

TIME:  1:53:11 (AP 9:27) 9:47, 10:16, 9:26, 9:29, 9:32, 9:47, 9:26, 8:56, 9:12, 9:13, 9:19, 8:42)

Holy smokes am I slow!  This is the farthest I've run this year and this is the most weekly mileage EVER.  Lots of firsts!

It was SO fantastic to meet so many runners from the blog.  Everyone was so nice and friendly.  There was no way I could have done this run alone...so hooray for great company! I learn so many things from all you knowledgeable runners!

This was a challenging run for me because of the intense uphills.  I guess I'm not a very strong uphill climber.  Something to work on.  It was quite windy too.  My hip only hurt during a few parts of the run.

A good run, but not the best run (mostly because it was SO slow).
