But the problem is that many runners forget all of the steps between the first one and the goal.  If your goal is to run under two hours for the half marathon then you need to be honest about all of the little steps to get to that goal.

I was up at 5am this morning walking the 'hood.  We had lots of activities tonight and I wanted to get a workout in.  Though it was torturous to drag my hiney out of bed, I really enjoyed my walk.

The air smelled SO clean after our big rainstorm last night.  Though it was quiet from cars and such, the birds seemed extra loud.  The sunrise was an unbelievable pink against the super green mountains. 

I was reminded why I love getting up before the world gets crazy.  Non-the-less, I am discouraged that I am unable to run more (1 minute here and 1 minute there).  All my running friends are RUNNING - racing too.  And I am walking.  Urghhh....  My patience is wearing really thin!

But 1 minute here, 1 minute there is more than you were doing a while ago, right? You have been incredibly patient and I know it's hard, but one of these days you'll look back and say, "I remember when I could only run 1 minute here, 1 minute there. Look how far I've come!"

You are incredibly patience and positive. Hang in there! Enjoy the summer running one min. here and one min there...soon it will be three min. then five then thirty minutes! Baby steps are good and way to enjoy the tranquility of early summer mornings!!! :)
