I had so much going on yesterday that I didn't get out for any
miles... which screwed up my weekly miles. but my wife watched the
kids after church today and let me do a couple hours.
it was a
bonus that the wind was much more calm than yesterday. I felt good -I
ran a lot of the marathon route for my race next month. Dang, that is
a hard route.. They made some changes to the course to keep the half
and full people split for more mile. Last year there was a lot of
complaining that the slow half people were blocking the road for the
quicker full people. The changes they made have made it even harder
than it already was. Hills - hills - hills - hills oh and more
hills. it is like running on the back of a sea serpent.
no idea why but my legs a lead today. i hate to do it, but i cut the 10 miles down to 6. at the rate i was going I never would have made it back in time to get the kids from school.
it was one of those days where it felt bad from the beginning mile. I'd like to think that I can do another short one tonight but with my wife having to work until 7 or so, I doubt it. Not a great week going here...
felt good and was going a little faster than in a long time. also had a little episode in the middle. had to sit for a min or two - once things settled down, i was back on the pace. maybe that is a good sign that I was doing a decent pace for once.
Just got back from my run for the day. I ran my longest run since the marathon on nov 14th...i have time for 22 and 24 in the next two weeks. I took my handheld with some new amino drink that I had a free sample that I got from one of the websites I go to. It was ok. It tasted a little sweet and was wet. i think most of those products might be good and all, but are mostly mumbo jumbo.
Anyway, ran a LOT of the ING race route. i wish i could get a hold of the sadistic s.o.b. who designed this course. there is absolutely no let up at any point. i have a little twinge in the left foot - a new area of pain - shooting pain one time but it held up as long as i didn't make any weird cuts or landings.
I forgot what a real long run feels like afterward. I think I went a little too fast, but it just felt like I was moving along comfortably.
I think if I get in two more before the race that will help me a lot. The first 20 miler is always the hardest for me. I need to HTFU.
Went out after work today. I think that is when I feel best for some reason. I had a little twinge in the left foot, but I think it will be OK tomorrow. My legs feel strong today, which is nice.
felt a bit clunky but overall it was ok- will get out after the wife gets home tonight.
4.2 @ 7:05 ave pace
7.6 tonight - 6:50 pace - i felt better than at 2PM and even tried to open it up over the last mile. I still don't feel like my stride is open enough but I'm working on it.
Well I skipped yesterday cause I was a wuss. But I'm back at it today and my knee and foot feel better from the day off.
4.2 @ 7:25 ave pace
did another 4 later in the afternoon. felt better on that one but got a little floaty feeling, which is never good. it went away after a mile or so but I hate when that happens.
It was good weather for the most part except for a little wind which was a bit annoying. I ran out of gas at the end cause I'm stupid and didn't drink all of my fuel on the way. After I stopped I felt horrible for 20 or so minutes. After I got some milk, gatorade, and a hamburger in me I felt back to normal. Then we went ice skating for a couple hours. It was the first time I've done that since college. We had a blast. This was my son's 2nd time -- last saturday he had a b-day party at the rink. And my daughter did it for the first time. They really are picking up well. And it was really good exercise after a 2:45 run.
Getting excited for the USA - Canada gold medal hockey game tomorrow. ..
