| | The weather outside is perfect!!! Rode 5 miles on my daughter's bike! I didn't realize it was an adult bike and I just needed to raise the seat. I haven't ridden a bike in a long time and it was so fun! It was hard too. I was huff'in and puff'in. I'm gonna be sore in the seat area too:) Walked 2 miles pushing Josie in the stroller up 2 flat iron park hills.

Time 1:39:18 AP 9:56 Ran @ 6:20 with Amber, Ashley, Emma and Ashley's neighbor Lori who is getting back into running/training for SGM. Gorgeous weather! Super fun run. Nice and easy. Grateful to be healthy because I'm surrounded by sickies and people who are injured. Counting my blessings! Congrats to my sister Ashley on her first 10 miler! She and Amber are running UV half marathon. Ashley's first half marathon ever! I might be running it with her cause Jeff has been sick and not running. Jeff was jumping in for my bil who dropped out of training. If he (my husband, Jeff) does run it, I'll be at the finish line cheering for everyone!

Time 1:16:42 AP 9:35 Easy 8 @ 6am with Jeff. So nice to have him with me. He's planning on running the half. I'll be @ the finish line with the kiddos:) Gorgeous morning! Drove to the middle school twice this morning cause my daughter slept in so I drove the carpool and then drove her a little later. Can't believe school's out again. Another year gone (they're all growing up too fast), they're also all home all day.... no more alone time in the pm while Josie naps and I do yoga, etc...etc....it's an adjustment.

Time 57:58 AP 9:40 Another beautiful morning. Another beautiful run (mostly with Jeff). This past week I've been feeling a "growing pain" in my right quad. I don't know how else to describe it. It's sort of an aching that I have to shake out. It comes and goes. Weird. Also, I may not even be at the finish line (UV) this Sat. now cause Lizzie has a soccer tourney. Sad for two of my sisters who trained for it and are now injured so one is for sure not running and the other is still deciding. Glad the third sister, Ashley is healthy and running her first half marathon! Go Ash!

Time 2:05:59 AP 9:33 Ran the UV half marathon with my husband Jeff, sister and her two friends and my niece. I didn't get a lot of sleep Thurs. night and then only 3.5 hrs Friday night so I was very tired before the race and feel weird and sore and super tired since the race even though it was fairly easy long run for me. I was helping my sister through her first half marathon and she did great! Jeff was ahead of us the whole time and said he came in 15 min. before us. I'm proud of him and impressed with his time because he didn't run all last week because of illness. Good job Jeff! Ashley, Emma and I crossed the finish line together and it was so fun to run with them. I had to tease Emma about running a Utah Valley race because she is a huge ute fan. I made sure to point out the Y on the mountain when we passed and the Lavell Edwards stadium. I also sang my school fight song as we passed PHS. I was born and raised in Provo:) Fun day! I didn't take any gus this race and I had to pee during the race. Both firsts for me. I still have weird cramping in my right leg and have had it since running Ogden marathon. It feels like my leg is having a contraction. It comes and goes. I want it to stop. On to Wasatch Back for next weekend.

Time 57:19 AP 9:33 Not included are 3 hill sprints I did with Jeff @ 10 seconds each. We timed each other. Did 4 recovery (for him, not me, he raced, i didn't) with Jeff and then did the hill sprints. I then did 2 more by myself. 5th mile I was still recovering from the last hill sprint and my last mile I tried to push it so 8:54. I'm already sore from the hill sprints:) Beautiful morning for running. Cloudy, which means cold for the girlies in 8:30 swim lessons. My 9th grader has summer PE for the next 2 and 1/2 weeks from 7:30-11am. So much for lazy summer mornings. Jeff's on the blog now. Well, he's being approved. Go welcome him to the blog:) POWER YOGA-52 MINUTES

Time 1:23:29 AP 9:50 Sleep was interrupted @ 2:30am by a thunder/lightning storm. I waited for my 6 year old to show up any minute cause I knew she'd wake up and be scared. She came in and asked if she could sleep in the middle. I thought that was cute. She's never said that before. Carried her back when the storm was over so I could get some sleep. Did 4 by myself around home, down 86th, up waters and falcon. Tried to keep up good speed on the hill. Came home to make sure Jane was up and say goodbye before she went to PE. Left to do 4 more and saw Lysa up ahead about to cross the intersection. It took me a while to catch her but I did and we ran together which was so fun! It's been a while. My legs are tired from those hill sprints yesterday. Jackie Warner Upper body workout and abs-30 minutes

Time 47:28 AP 9:53 1st run of Wasatch Back. Runner 12. Started @ 6:38pm
rated "Very Hard" Freak'in HUGE hill up to Snow Basin. pulled my right piriformis muscle sometime during this run. my chest was burning for a few hours after this run. I think I started out too fast. the downhill before the final climb to the finish really saved my AP. I booked it down and was so happy to be running down!
ps. I'm never again calling Newcastle a hill.

Wasatch Back cont...
Leg 24 =Time 1:06:58 AP 9:54
5:47am
"HARD" (esp since I think I pulled my right piriformis muscle during my first run so I didn't have full range of motion on my right leg for the first 3 miles. then it got better) I saw a colt nursing and later I saw a dead deer off the side of the road. I think I had 12 kills on this run and there was a cute blond girl who passed me but I eventually caught her on the downhill (the short section of downhill). We stayed together till the end and she helped me stay strong. We sprinted to the finish together and missed the chute and had to duck back under the orange divider to get to the right place. Thank you cute girl for helping me finish strong! After this run I no longer had the right butt muscle issue I guess it worked itself out during this run. I didn't think I'd get through those first 3 miles and I was slow cause of it. I kept praying it would go away and I guess it worked. I didn't bring my water belt and got water/powerade at the first station but the next two were abandoned so I was very thirsty at the end. No van support on any of my legs! bleh!
Leg 36, another "HARD" =Time 1:12:38 AP 10:06 3:16pm
I took my water belt on this run. I could tell that everyone on this run was beat/tired whatever cause I passed a lot of guys who were walking. I didn't even see the van drive by here cause they had to shuttle to the finish. Started at Deer Valley and ran toward a neighborhood with HILLS of course. Common denom in all my runs. I think I had another 13 kills on this run at least. After the neighborhood we went down a trail that went straight down. I have no experience with this so I just hoped the people in front of me did and I followed them. It was a fun change. We turned onto a paved path along the highway. Well I could see the highway. I was hurting in odd places all over my body. My neck was hurting on the left front side. What??? I also remember my legs feeling like they were just going to buckle out from under me at any minute at this point in my run. I don't know if it was because of that steep trail that I probably ran too fast. I was praying that feeling would pass soon. I just had to tell myself "keep going...almost done...I also took a swig of gatorade while running around here and inhaled it down the wrong place and started coughing and ugh! We crossed and headed toward the school but had to get over a hill with winding trails through ugly bushes. We could see how much farther and all the hills and tons of people were walking. Head wind, heat, I was so ready to be done! It seemed never ending. We eventually headed up and down and to the road that took us to the finish. I gave it my all and my whole team was waiting at the finish. They formed a tunnel for me and I almost started crying. I sprinted to the finish with them right behind me! So happy to be done. WAY TO GO TEAM UNCOMFORTABLY NUMB!!!

8:00pm weird for me to run @ this time but summer schedule is weird.
Holy Cow my quads still feel so tender! They didn't even feel this way 3 days after the marathon. Stupid Ragnar Runner 12! I don't remember feeling this bushed after 2008 Ragnar. I'm still really tired and sore.
I ran around Flat Iron Park which isn't flat at all. Sydney and Cami played on the big hill while Liz pushed Josie in the stroller. Jeff and Jane were at youth night. The honeysuckle is blooming so I smelled that wonderfulness each time I ran around the east side. It wasn't as hot as I thought it would be. Really nice out. The sky was so blue behind the snow capped mountains. I don't want it to melt up there. I saw a lot of people I know at the park. It was fun!

| | Time 58:36 AP 9:46 Still feeling it in the quads. 6am run in shorts and it was beautiful out there! I forgot to say that I say Ed Yeates (ksl news) walking around Flat Iron when I ran last night. that's the second time I've seen him there. He said hi to me as I passed. Cool. This morning I again smelled the honeysuckle! Love that! Love this time of year. I think it usually blooms in May though right? On my way up (2 mile) I saw a robin on the street pretty close to the gutter that didn't fly away as I got closer so I figured it must be injured. He was jerking his head all crazy like he was going crazy cause he couldn't fly. how scary for him. anyway, I looked for him on my way back down (5 mile) and he had fluttered himself almost to the middle of the road. I didn't want him to get run over so I started slowly walking toward him and telling him he needed to get on the grass. I tried to pick him up and he was freaking out of course! I just inched closer and closer till he fluttered up onto the grass. I had to hurry home so hopefully he stayed on the grass. Do these injured birds get better if they don't get run over or eaten first? Kind of sad. Poor bird. Hopefully he'll be okay. He was just squawking at me with his little beak wide open the whole time I was trying to help him. He must have been terrified! Sorry bird. I was only trying to help and I hope you're okay. | | Time 1:41:25 AP 10:09 Ran around home a bit and then up Newcastle and up the trail to La Caille. I wish that trail lasted longer. It was nice and cool and the river was raging! Turned right on Wasatch and ran up to 94th and turned right. Shot blocked at the top cause I was starving. Took my first left and went down toward dimple dell road and took dimple dell trail. I haven't been on there since winter. Ran all the way down to 13th, well almost, Smith's market. Ran over to the library and took Petunia toward home. Left on 17th and ran to Falcon Park. Refilled my water and ran up Falcon (gotta love a big hill in the last mile) and home. I need a schedule for SGM. Don't feel like I can train properly without one. Will jump in to one first of July cause until then I'll be cruis'in to ALASKA! See ya, wouldn't wanna be ya!

| | 3 on the TM and 3 outside on the deck of the ship. It's easier to run at sea level. Well, I was running at a 7.0 and it didn't feel hard like it does at home. What was harder about the run was on the TM I was getting more of a core workout than usual trying to keep from falling off the TM as I went side to side with the ship. I don't know who said you can't feel the ship moving on a cruise but I certainly felt it on this one. |

| | 30 minutes hike and walking today. We went humpback whale watching in Juneau. According to our guide we were able to witness a rare site with these whales that were bubble net feeding. They would all jump out of the water with their mouths open catching and eating all the fish they had fooled. They make a bunch of bubbles and fool the fish into thinking they're caught in a net so they don't swim away and they come up and eat them. There was also a young whale that kept breeching but we had a hard time getting it on tape cause it happened so quick. He would come shooting out of the water and do a little twist. It was amazing! We saw some seals laying around on a buoy too.
After whale watching we went to the Mendenhall glacier and went on a hike. It was a huge glacier and we walked to a huge waterfall. It was raining. This place was gorgeous! Looked like the garden of Eden might have I imagine.

| | Walked several miles around Sitka, Alaska! Saw lots of eagles and totem poles. Beautiful, lush green forest everywhere! Raining. Went to a Raptor reserve and saw eagles, owls, hawks and a falcon close up. Some were injured and not able to fly. Some were being nursed back to health to be reintroduced into the wild. It was cool. | Add Comment |
