I still love my Kinsei's more. (wow, up to 600)
Time 1:07:15 on the treadmill. "Slow" run today. Watched an episode and 1/2 of "Heavy" on A&E. My sister told me about the show and all I have to say is WHOA! Made me grateful that I was physically able to run 7 easy on the TM today. Grateful for a new month. One month closer to Spring even if it's colder than it's ever been out there today. I was feeling down and a little angry that I had to get up and run 7 miles today. Asked myself what I was thinking signing up for this marathon and training in the winter. Training last year with Lysa starting in May was so nice! I think I'm crazy for doing 2 marathons this year. Just having a little breakdown. I need to refocus and be grateful that I can run! This weather is just so depressing and it doesn't help to talk to my friend in Vegas who's training for Ogden as well.

| | Cross training day Tried the Just Dance 2 Intense workout on the wii for 40 min.I was sweating, but not enough. The program didn't work the way I thought it would and it annoyed me. The dancing part was fun but not enough of a workout.
Did Jillian's "winning combination of core-focused cardio circuits and ab-toning exercises." Otherwise known as the "6 week/ 6pack" on demand. 38 min.

| | 4 "Fast" miles on the treadmill in 34:55. Warmed up for 5 min and then ran between 6.5-7.0 most the time and 8.0 the last .60. I was trying to do a tempo run but I don't even know what I ended up doing. There are so many different types of speed work that it confuses me. Jackie Warner Upper body and ab workout (weight+cardio)- 30 min So glad my 11 yr old is finally back to school. Has been home all week with influenza (doctor thinks) . Still not totally recovered but not contagious.

| | Left @ 6:30 and it was 33 degrees. So warm! I went with Deb and Jill. Up Newcastle and up to La Caille (trail) where we turned left on Wasatch. Went a ways and left went left down toward Creek Road. All the way down Creek to Highland and back up to Newcastle. We were @ 9+ there when Deb left us to take her dog home. Deb and I went back up Newcastle and back up to La Caille (trail again) and turned right and SLOWLY ran up to 94th. My legs were burning! I love the burn! (kept telling myself) I really couldn't believe we were going back up (way back on Newcastle for the 2nd time) @ mile 10. I told her that Lysa and I were always looking for flat or downhill @ this point on our long runs. She said she just goes on auto pilot and doesn't notice the inclines. What!? Anyway, so happy to get to the top of Wasatch @ 94th and come down, down, down, to Highland where we get another hill @ mile 13 where I was supposed to be done. Ran an extra mile home on flat ground and so appreciated it! My average was around 9:57 I think but my daughter was playing with it when I got home and kept pushing the start button. Need to stretch my butt and hamstrings! |

Time: 1:08:53 AP 9:51 7 SLOW, IN THE SNOW Left @ 6:15, went alone with my music. It was definitely a yaxtrax morning. Certain back roads were icy so I aimed for the snow. Best place to run was on the snow packed tire tracks. It was beautiful with the snow because it was lighter out. The sunrise was great with the clear blue sky. The sun is rising sooner. Yay! I see a light at the end of the tunnel. I didn't finish my run in time to drive the carpool so my husband drove and I finished shoveling the driveway when I got home. Registered for the Dam 2 Dam run in St. George (Pres. day weekend) I guess we run @ Sand Hollow State Park in Hurricane, UT. I'm doing the 10 miler, Jeff's doing the 5. Should be nice to run in warmer weather.

Time: 2:18:39 AP 9:54 Hardest 14 miler I've ever done! Not that I've done so many but, it was freak'in hard. I went with Betsy and Jill so I didn't have slow Deb to fall back on. I'm putting my splits just for fun cause there's one I'm really proud of. 9:12, 9:18, 11:09 (trail) 9:50, 9:08, 7:58 !!!!!! (never seen this on my garmin for a 1.00), 10:58 (she took me straight up the steepest trail ever!) 11:56 (wait, maybe that was it) 9:57, 10:00, 9:50, 9:33, 9:46, 10:06 (the trails kicked my butt so hard I seriously barely made it home. legs, butt and feet were killing). So...we went up Newcastle and up trail to La Caille. Betsy is a pro at those trails and I'm just trying to not break my ankle. Every step on the trail is a workout for me. At least it was in the condition they were in this morning. At La Caille we went up Wasatch and turned left up Cottonwood Canyon (south). That whole mile was TOUGH. We turned around (up @ the fork where the buses are and north cottonwood) and came back down and Jill was booking it this time. Ran down 94th and took our first left after going past Wasatch. Went down this hill and my garmin beaped and I saw the 7:58 and couldn't believe it! So happy! We went toward Dimple dell and I thought we'd run where we had before on a not so tough trail. Well, Betsy went down dimple dell to another trail head that took us straight up the side of the mountain. Of course she raced up like a mountain goat. Jill left us here and went home. Betsy and I continued on for I think about 4 miles on the trail and it did my body in. Straight down ( I was so worried I would fall or break something and she just raced through there. Very experienced trail runner) and straight up and I walked at one point (11:56). The trail leveled off but it's just so hard on my body. I feel like it's working muscles I never use with every step. Holy cow. Getting back on the road just felt easy after that but my body was so tired from it...it was seriously the hardest thing I've done in a long time. Anyway, I sound like a wimp. I know it will just make me stronger and I did enjoy the challenge some of the time :). Betsy did most of the talking and for the last 4 miles I noticed my face was FREEZING. When I tried to talk my mouth was numb like I had been to the dentist. I felt like such a retard when I tried to talk that it was making me laugh. My water was frozen and slushy by the end. I'm so excited to run a race in St. George next week! I hoping it will be so much warmer and no snowy trails! So grateful for a nice hot shower after these long runs in the cold! Had to get ready to help @ the school with Valentine parties for 2 hours. Now I need a serious nap. Did long run today cause I'll be in Midway tonight for GNOO (girls night out overnighter).

Time 1:17:22 AP 9:40 8 slow miles. Last mile was 8:49 though getting home just in time to wave goodbye to my oldest daughter as my husband drove the carpool. Left a little after 6am and it was 40 degrees I think. Great weather. There are few things that are more gratifying to me than running outside throughout an entire sunrise (darkness, then outline of the mountains...light and more light with pretty blue...moving into my favorite...pink and blue sky and clouds). Gorgeous! BK Power Yoga 1- 52 minutes

Cross training day JM Banish Fat Boost Metabolism-40 minute Cardio Circuit broken into 6-minute circuits. Most challenging circuit for me is #5 *jump sqauts *cross country *scissor kicks (like jump squats but you come up and scissor the legs) * skaters (recovery) and *STANDING MOUNTAIN CLIMBERS (high knees with arm punching up). Love the jumping jacks and jumprope and the walking plank she does during the floor circuit. 20 minutes jogging on step while watching Oprah. 10 minutes at advanced level- 5 minutes at intermediate level and 5 minutes cooling down stepping not jogging. Oh my gosh, while I was stepping I heard something and looked toward my sliding glass door, which was open a little for some fresh air and a huge, ugly, brown dog was trying to get into my house! I freaked and screamed and yelled at him to get out and get away! Scared the !&*# out of me! Stupid dog! Why is it even running around in my yard? I had just let Puddy (Lysa's dog) back into his yard before I started exercising. What's up with the dog thing today?
It is so dang windy!!! Just read this. The dream is moving farther away.

2011 Dam 2 Dam Run (10 Miles) 01:29:33, Place overall: 19, Place in age division: 6 | |
Garmin time: 10.04 miles in 1:29:29 with AP 8:55 Splits: 9:10,8:53, 8:58, 8:54, 8:49, 8:59, 9:06, 9:05, 8:35, 8:40, 7:45 (232 ft)
51 total and 14 women in my age division
Jeff and I dropped Lizzie off at the soccer field and got to Sand Hollow State Park in Hurricane, Utah @9am Sat. He was trying to catch the last shuttle for the 5 mile run which was supposed to leave @ 9:15. It was raining and had been pouring down since 4 am that morning. Gray clouds all around and no let up in sight. When we arrived they told us they weren't doing the shuttle and the 5 and 10 mile race would start together @ 10am. We sat in our car for an hour waiting...I decided @ the last minute to not wear my big, awkward raincoat, Jeff kept his on. This was not a big race, I really have no idea how many people there were. 100? (Hey I guessed right) Jeff and I ran together for a bit but then I headed off. (He's only worked his way up to 3 miles so was hoping to finish this 5 mile race). I had on two shirts and my tights, shorts, a hat, buff band to cover ears and gloves. When we started raining I didn't even notice the rain anymore. It was just me and my music and the person ahead of me I needed to pass pretty much this whole race. I took it easy though to begin with. We ran around a big body of water. We started on gravel, then to road and then back to gravel for a while. Got a few rocks in my shoes but left them there. Figured I'd just get more. The 5 milers turned around @ 2.5 and we ran out and around a point and turned around @ 5. When the first runner looped around I high fived him and said good job. A girl was close behind him and I high-fived her and said good job!!! I thought I recognized the 5th or 6th woman that looped me coming back and I realized who she was when I saw her again @ the end of the race. There were water stations at mile 2.5 and 5 and ? Anyway, at 5 I drank for a minute and passed up a few girls I thought for sure would catch me again but didn't. On the way back I stayed right behind a tall guy for a while, just tried to keep pushing myself. My goal was to stay under 9 for AP every mile. I passed a few people on the way to the finish and then just gave it my all the last few miles. There was a head wind and rain the entire time of course so I feel like I did great. It was tough but I just pushed as hard as I could at the end. Jeff was there cheering my in! They gave us chocolate milk, mini muffins and fruit cups. They also gave us a card with our official time and place. When I was getting my card I saw this girl again I thought I recognized and realized I've read her blog on marathon mommies. I read about her race @ Ogden marathon last year where she qualified for Boston. She had a lot of pictures and I've read this blog entry several times because she tells in detail about what she did that helped her qualify. She inspired me to try and qualify. I told her so. Anyway... good race!

Time 58:37 AP 9:47 Ran 6 miles in St. George. Left before the kids were up. Wanted to try out the path but it was closed because of construction so I ran on the stupid road. Took it easy. Cold out but not rainy. It rained all day Saturday and all day Sunday:( The soccer fields were complete mud cause the tournament was at a sod farm. Nice. We could tell everyone who was in our tournament the whole trip home cause their cars were covered in red mud.

Time 2:31:17 AP 10:05 Nothing like running 15 in a foot of snow. Okay, most the time it was slush on the busier roads but there were a few times we were in a foot of powder. Today was about getting the miles in. Left @ 5:45am and ran with Jill and Betsy. Jill left us halfway through cause she had to get home. My feet were wet @ mile 3. It was great. We went down Highland to Creek and up to Danish (yes the super steep hill) and up to Wasatch to 94th. Down 94th and took first left and went toward Dimple dell. Turned left and went down to Eastdell. Ran a minute there and Betsy turned left to take us up to the top of that neighborhood over to Sego Lily. All the way down to the library and toward home. She wanted to run all the way up that road, it's Petunia and turns into something else. anyway, I said go ahead but no more hills for me. We ran toward home and up Falcon (one last hill) and around the hood for the last few miles. I was wiped out! Never been so happy to get to a hot shower!!!
