Up and down P-canyon (Provo).  Just not feeling it today.  Extremely unmotivated and pretty upset with my running today.  I need to re-evaluate what I want out of running.  I am pretty pooped. :(

Two weeks until the marathon.  I know that I can slip a long run in there, if I want to...

Stink.  It's been a hard week.  Beautiful weather though.

I'm sorry that you didn't enjoy your run today. Not all runs have to be stellar runs. For that matter, not all races have to be PR races. It is honorable to run just for the enjoyment of running.

Sorry that your week has been hard...shouldn't be too surprised b/c you ran a very FAST Half last week. Rest and recovery is under-rated. I'm sure you already know that. It is during rest and recovery that we improve.

GOOD LUCK with Mesquite. Go in with the right attitude and you will do fine!

What? When were you running? I ran up there today around 7:30-9:00. You should have just come with me.

Yeah Becca, you shouldve ran with Jeff! It helps the miles go by a lot quicker. Drink lots of liquid now! try taking some vitamins or glucosamine pills to help your recovery. take an ice bath too! then stretch, and roll your legs with the stick or something. It is extremely difficult to do back to back Marathons and Half marathons. You ran a 10k right after SGM and then followed it up with a hard half marathon. dont worry about your pace right now, if you keep running youll be fine.

I think it's the season. When colder weather hits its hard to stay focused. Maybe get through the marathon and then just relax and take a break. Focus on miles or time running as opposed to pace. Don't do any races unless they're with me and you promise yourself you'll stick with the slow one and just have fun :) We all need a break every once in a while and to remember that running is FUN...not drudgery. Sometimes we forget and need an excuse to re-focus and scale back our addiction. PLUS, on top of all of this you are working two new jobs, and I'm assuming, looking for a new place to live and having to deal with life in general. I'm not good with change...so, you may be dealing with that too? If you ever want a nice slow pace...call me! I'm down for it!!!

Sorry you had a rough day ... but man you are a tough woman taking on all these races so close together and excelling in them all!!! :)

Hang in there!

I would say the half last week is the biggest culprit. When I ran Bryce in July (same drop in elevation) my legs and back were in cast mode. Meaning I might as well been in the hospital with my legs up in casts. I tried to "race" the SF 10K and my legs were like lead. I quickly became discouraged and unmotivated, sleepless and NOT liking running. So I like the quote above to "scale back our addiction" and run slower with a willing buddy as expressed above. Your body will love you and you will bounce back with more finesse. Promise. Oh sleep well too.
