I went from HELL to HEAVEN. There is a significant difference running in Texas versus running in Utah. The cool weather felt so good. I only had to get one drink of water and I probably sweated a third of what I do in Texas. The breeze was actually cool.

15 beautiful miles with great company! I rode down to Provo Canyon with Smooth, Karen and Larry for the annual RHPC run. This event was great! I ran with Lilly, Rachelle, and RAD. :) I had so much fun chatting away the time with these speedy ladies. AP 8:00 Had a couple of yummy snacks after the run was over to celebrate the miles put in with great friends. It's so nice running with great company in such a beautiful place.

7.2 with the most amazing RAD! We ran up Rose Canyon (Herriman) from Rachel's house. I was happy to be introduced to such steep hills again. Not going to lie they set my legs on fire. Speaking of fire, we ran where the fire had swept and it was amazing to see all of the homes that were saved by the Firemen. Seriously crazy. Ran back down the beautiful hills back to Rachel's house. We chatted for a long time after the run. So nice to spend some time with her on a killer run.

8 miles with the AMAZING Rachel! She took me on a tour of her "urban trail" loop. Hills and hills. Thought I would take it easy but this run killed me (not her). So fun to run by Daybreak and run on a cool little trail. Not an easy route. 8:37 AP

Lavender Days Half Marathon (13.2 Miles) 01:44:50, Place overall: 14, Place in age division: 4 | Slow miles | Fast miles | Total Distance | 0.00 | 13.20 | 13.20 |

Oh boy, where do I begin with this adventure? My mom is 59 and had the desire to participate in the Lavender Days 5k. I saw there was a half marathon and my running schedule called for a 13 miler. This would be a great chance for me to get my mom a little more involved. We spent the night in Spanish Fork at my cousin's house. We arrived at their home at 10 pm and didn't get to be until 12:30. I didn't sleep until one and woke up to my mom having some kind of a health problem. Possibly a stroke? I have had no idea, I was ready to call 911. After a few minutes she seemed okay and had calmed down a little. I didn't know if she would be okay to walk the 5k. We got to the farm at 6:00 and I ran onto one of the last buses to get up to the start. I got there, used the bathroom and went and stood behind the start line. SMALL race with a lot of fast runners. My legs and body didn't feel like moving at an amazing fast pace, so I decided to take it easy and not kill myself. Tempo and marathon pace at the least was my goal. Splits were okay the first six miles, then we hit the uphill. Mile 10 we were still going uphill, mile 11 we were now going really uphill. I stopped a few times. Last mile and a half were downhill. :) I finished the race and my mom was there cheering me in at the end. :) I could tell she had a good time and finished strong! I was WAY more proud of her than I was for myself. I really had a bad day out there. This race just made me feel out of shape. I was going slow but I was really struggling. Very discouraging for the upcoming marathon. Oh well, nothing I can do at this point. I have never trained as hard as I have for a marathon and I feel like my pace is just slowing.

8 miles with the girls and Mike on the JRP. I pleased to run a little bit with RAD's sweet sister QP from the blog. She made me laugh when she told us about her treasure chest of random things she finds on her runs. Every pirate has to have a treasure chest, right? Rachel (beast lady on the bike) rode to JRP and after a 1 mile warm up kicked into some crazy tempo mileage with me. It felt so good out and the company was so grand, our legs were just speeding up. We had to force ourselves to slow down. Rachel always kicks it the last mile and she pushed me to the end with her quick stride. Just hope she plans to do the same for me at the upcoming marathon. I just hope I won't be being a big baby that day. Fun times. I love Utah running! So fun to spend time with Smooth and Wendy too. :)
