I teach dance k-5 at an elementary school. Today I told my students that I am not going to be here next week. I told them that I am running the Boston Marathon. Of course they don't know anything about the race, so they look at me with funny faces. I continued to tell them a little about the race. Questions from the students followed:
1. Are you going to win, what do you get if you win? Reply: I wish, but no, I will not win this race. People that win get lots of money.
2. Do you run or jog the whole way? Run.
3. Why don't you just ride a donkey? I hope I run faster than a donkey.
4. How far is 26.2 miles? From here (Vernal) to Roosevelt. (That is when students become amazed).
5. Do you stop and take rests? Not really.
6. Will there be people from China running in it? Pretty sure there will be.
7. What if you get hit by a car? They close the roads.
8. What if your timing chip blows up? Then I guess I will loose my foot.
9. What if there are two people that are racing at a tie, so other one reaches over and punches the other one? Pretty sure that person would be disqualified.
10. Have you been training really hard this week to run all those miles? No, I have been training over a period of months.
11. Why don't you eat a box of donuts before the race? I might throw up.
