I planned to run a 10 miler on the TM.  I woke up late and only pulled 8 miles.  After work I will be heading out the door for another three.

My body is still tired from the 22 on Sat.  But I want to pull a high-milage week.

Goals for Boston:

1.  Get a lot of rest.  8 hours of sleep every night.  Give adequate rest between workouts.

2.  Listen to my body.  If I feel aches or pains; give them all my attention.

3.  Slowly build milage weekly.

4.  Eat healthy to fuel my body.

Feel free to give me any other suggestions.

After work I went outside and just ran a steady, relaxed 3 miles.

Nice run over the weekend. Are those your goals for Boston or for your training for Boston?

I am running Boston as well and am starting to get pysched for it (not that much training time left!).

Keep up the solid training and you will have a great time!

jtshad,

I am training for the Boston race in April. You are right, we don't have much time until the race day arrives. This will be my first Boston and I am a little nervous to tell you the truth.

Good luck to you with all of your training.

Looks like a good plan to me. If you're already hitting 22 mile long runs, you've probably already got a solid base for the marathon, so building up mileage for base fitness shouldn't be an issue for you (but, as somewhat of a long distance runner myself, I understand always wanting more miles - I try to follow the 10% rule....most of the time). What kind of workouts are you running?

From bec on Mon, Feb 23, 2009 at 15:35:17

Thanks Nevels! I usually increase my milage by 10% for three weeks and bring it back down on the fourth week. Then repeat the process. Eight weeks until the marathon...I plan to do at least two more twenty or more mile runs.

Solid plan; good luck...

Nice TM run. And 3 more after work?! Wow, you're pulling 2-a-day. Those are good goals to help you focus on training smart. You're doing awesome. Have you talked to your folks about any Boston fun stuff? We're going to the Red Sox Game Sat. night. When are you arriving and leaving Boston?

Bec, you're doing awesome and I love your goals! I think you're right on track. I understand being nervous about the race (Ogden will be my first full and when I think about it I nearly puke!) but I can tell from what you're doing that you'll rock it! I'd tell you not to worry, but it wouldn't help, so worry on...but don't let it overtake, know somewhere that you're more than prepared and you'll take this bull by the horns and throw him down! (I do live in the middle of nowhere so I get to make odd references like that :)

Smooth,

Man, I think my parents wanted to go to a game on Monday after the race. I wasn't too excited about that. We are flying in on the 18th and leave the following Thursday. I'm not sure what time we arrive on Saturday. But I would love to know some of the fun things to do when we get there...My dad is a history buff.

RAD,

You make me laugh so hard. Take the the bull by the horns and throw him down? Sad thing is, I am way too familiar with that saying. Living in Vernal isn't exactly city life. I was raised in Lehi too, so nothing unfamiliar. Girl, you motivate me, thanks for making me smile.
