1300 - Modified work run. Went to the 2.5 mile turn around and managed

8 hill sprints walking back down the hill after each repeat. Ran solo

again. Vern on vacation. Was overcast and not too hot. Must have pushed

it a bit much or didn't hydrate enough - my left calf seized up on me

on the way back. Stretched it out and was fine for the last couple

miles.

0830 - Only did three miles with Liam and the twins out on the B&A trail. Good thing it's flat! Unfortunately so was one of the tires, so that added to the resistance training. The kids did pretty well, though Liam needed to get out and do his usual sprints. At the turnaround, after I told Liam that we were heading back commented from his stroller seat, "Good, I'm getting tired of running." - Hah! Had a good time at Panera's afterward with the crew. We were outside as it was a nice day. The babies ate bits of bagels and showed off for passers by.

1000 - Ran with Rhys to the duck pond and back. Rhys took a snoozer for most of the trip. Low humidity and cooler. Awesome day. No ducks at the pond. Didn't run too hard, just wanted to get in the distance.

1200 - Ran the usual work route, but ran hard. Had to run solo as Vern's still on vacation. Another beautiful day. Felt sluggish for the first half mile, but then was in the groove the rest of the way.

5:30 pm run with Rhys. Great evening. Ran to Sherwood and back. Rhys didn't complain too much. He's a trooper in the stroller as long as he's got a bottle.

1200 - Ran with Vern. Another nice day. Managed 7 hill repeats today. Dragged myself back the rest of the way. Didn't catch up to Vern until the end.

1145 - Ran the usual loop. Took it easy on the hills and walked some. Felt a little sluggish in general.

0830 - Managed only two miles pushing Liam, Rhys, and Caroline on ANOTHER flat tire - bummer. Fairly light turn out: Phipps, John, Jeff were there. Took the crew to Panera's after.

Ran the usual route with Vern - well sort of with Vern. He got a head start and I only caught him with 0.1 mi to go! Vern claims to be nursing an injury, but this appears suspect :). It was hot and a bit more humid that the past week. I felt slow the first half. Felt better coming back and was forced to go a bit faster to catch Vern. Definitely didn't feel easy. Need to start my tapper for Sunday's race - hopefully the weather won't be too bad from the Hurricane.

1100 - Ran with Vern. Did 4 hill sprints on Mt. Colleen. Temp was close to 90. Took it easy on the way back, walking part of Dan's Hill.

1145 - Ran with Vern part way as his leg is still hurting. I took it easy, no speed work and a moderate to easy pace doing the usual loop route. Nice day with temps in the low to mid 80s. Thinking about Sunday's race.

1530 - Short run up to Gilman pushing Rhys in the stroller. Probably too soon after I ate. Had a little heart-burn coming back. Temp in mid 80s and more humid.

0745 - Finished another A10! It was humid with temps around 70 at the start. I felt good at the start, though I started too far back in the pack (again) to get a decent 1st mile pace. (Got stuck in the spot-a-pot line). 1st mile was around 8:48. I picked it up from there to do the first half in 41:33. My plan was to run negative splits for the second half which I did manage to do, though I didn't break 80 mins as I'd been hoping. I did finish faster than last year by about 30 secs :). I felt good with two miles to go, but I felt myself wanning the last half-mile as the finish seemed forever away. 

 

Overall the day was great. I enjoyed the run and the post race festivities.

1115 - Ran earlier than usual to accommodate a 1 o'clock meeting. Ran to the bottom of Colleen's hill solo. Vern's trying to rest that leg. I walked up part of the hill, but ran a moderate pace on the run. It was humid, though not too hot. I really didn't feel to bad, though maybe a little slower on the hills today.

1200 - Beautiful day! The legs felt a little sore up the first few hills, but I felt better on the return and picked up the pace a little. Ran solo again today. Vern's still resting that leg getting ready for the Half on Sunday.

1145 - Ran inside on the treadmill since the rain was coming down pretty hard. 48:30 for the 6 miles. Vern put in a few as well as he's preparing for the Half Marathon on Sunday.

Took another rest day today as work was hectic trying to get loose ends wrapped up for my vacation. Got the stroller wheel repaired today, so should be good to get the crew out on the trail tomorrow assuming the weather cooperates.
