Finally back at it, though I could feel the effect of my time off for the cold.

Since I am "the indoor man" I did 9 at 8:00 pace, 8 at 7:30 on the portable track machine.

5 easy, random incline to 3%.

One hour FIT.

4 fast (for me lately) -3% decline progressively faster from 7:00 down to 6:00 (treadmill of course).

18 treadmill miles at 6:58 pace, but -3% decline.  I'll call it marathon pace, but it was really between easy and marathon pace.

Last week's 18 downhill miles left my quads a bit hammered so I decided to do 19 today.

13 at 6:58, 4 at 6:52, .5 at 6:58 and .5 at 8:00, all at -3% decline.

Now perhaps I have found the perfect consolation for all in Cougar Nation who are feeling Blue after the early exit, yet again.  (Be sure to read the fine print.)

Addendum:  Sorry, it now applies to the Aggie Blues, too.

Like Batman, I can try to sound gay about the run, but my heart just wasn't in it today:

I enjoyed running the Riverton Half Marathon this morning, despite all the strong headwinds and hills.  This was my first half marathon which was not part of a full.

1. 6:35

2. 6:42     13:17

3. 7:05     20:22

4. 6:42     27:04

5. 6:54     33:58

6. 7:17     41:17

7. 7:08     48:24

8. 7:23     55:47

9. 6:40     1:02:27

10. 7:30     1:09:57

11. 6:53     1:16:50

12. 6:47     1:23:38

13. 6:25     1:30:03

.12  0:40    1:30:43

I got passed during mile 6 by one guy, then passed again during mile 8.  I hate to admit it, but the second time I was passed I was walking while drinking some Gatorade (and was wussing out).  I was not gaining on the 2 guys ahead of me and had a sizeable gap on anyone behind me, so I wussed out again and walked during mile 10 on the steep switchback.  (Totally mental, oh well.)  At least I started running an ran all the way in.

Overall I consider it a good effort.  On the bright side, I was not chicked and feel the course was fairly difficult, especially having to take on all the headwind alone.

It was also good to see a number of bloggers.
