Wow!  It's May.  I can't believe it.  I'm still being good and only water running.

30 mins with a consistant effort

I'll call it an easy day.

I think my foot is feeling a bit better.  I'll stick with water running again tomorrow and next week I may try some elliptical work.

1 hour deep water running at constant pace

Call it a long slow run.

I actually did some exercise with running shoes on!  I went to the gym and did 30 mins eliptical followed by 20 min on the stationary bike.  Pain level was very low with my foot but increased slightly by the end of the eliptical workout.  No pain cycling.  After I got home and showered the pain in the foot was up to about a 5, but the good news is it was back down to about a 1 by morning.

Doone headed out for mutual and the kids and I headed to the pool. I planned on getting a good deep water running workout in, but about 10 minutes in, I decided to bag it and play with the kids. We played water basketball, dove for toys, raced, etc. I'm sure I burned a few calories so that will have to be my workout today.

I think I'll try the eliptical out again tomorrow.

I headed to the gym ready for a good long hard eliptical workout and when I got there I realized I had forgotten my stuff to get ready for work after the workout, so I had to cut the workout a short so I could go back home to get ready for work.  Anyways, I did 30 minutes on the eliptical with no more then a 1 on the pain scale.  A few hours later here, my foot still feels good.  My wife has enrichment tonight, so I might take the kids back to the gym for some more eliptical work and then a nice fun swim with the kids before bed.

I am pretty sure that by Monday, my foot will be ready for its first running test.

The kids reluctantly consented to go to the gym with me if we could swim afterwards. I did another 30 minutes eliptical at level 10 and as hard as I could go. I was trying to push off with my right foot as close as possible to running. Although I could feel it, it wasn't painful, more of a tender feeling. I kept eyeing the treadmills, but I resisted the temptation. I'll get back in the pool tomorrow.

Did another pool run this morning.

30 mins alternating 4 hard with 2 easy.

I'll call it speed work.

My foot is a bit tender this morning, but I wouldn't call it pain. It is weird, but I'm almost afraid to run on it. I was in bed last night thinking about how great it will be to run Monday and in the back of my head I was almost cringing with pain at the thought of running. I guess my brain still remembers the pain I inflicted on myself a few weeks ago. I'm sure one good run will cure me of this though.

I was excited to get up and run this morning.  I've been walking 100% pain free and doing the eliptical pain free as well so I decided I was ready.  I headed over to a park with a big grass field that I could run around and started to run.  I took it easy, but was suprised at the amound of pain I had right from the start.  It wasn't anything like the sharp tearing pain I had during Boston, but it was much more than I anticipated.  I almost stopped right then, but decided to try and run just a bit more.  I ended up running 2 miles on grass and the pain came down some by the end, but I figured I shouldn't push it any more.  I then headed over to the gym and did 30 min eliptical, pain free.

2 miles  AP 7:24

I guess I'll wait and see how my foot responds for the rest of the day and tomorrow.  It's definitely not healed enough for any hard running.

I finally have that feeling I usually get after a good run.  I did my water running this morning a little differently to get there.  I did it without the belt.  To stay afloat you have to run pretty hard.  I could only do it for 1 minute at a time.  So I ran all out for 1 min. then held onto the side and did some easy kicking for a minute and then repeated 15 times for a full 30 min workout.  I got my HR up around 165.  About 140 was my max with the belt and usually I was around 120.  Anyways, it feels good to have that post workout burn feeling again.

Slept in this morning so I missed spin class.

I snuck out of work at lunch and got in a full body weights workout. I did some really like to raises to test out the PF tendon. It felt good. No pain. Maybe I can gradually work that up to stregthen it.

I'm taking my 3 boys camping tonight (fathers and sons campout.) I hate seeping on the ground in a tent, but the boys love it. Wish me luck.

I really wanted to run this morning as my gift to myself for my birthday today, so as part of my workout today I jumped on the treadmill and gave it a go.   I ran 1 very slow (9:58) mile.  Pain started very mild around a 1 and gradually increased as I went on.  By the end it was around a 4,  not too bad.  The real key will be how it feels later today and then tomorrow.

It felt great to run, even if it was just 1 mile.  Now I'm at a whopping 3 miles for May!
