So today was the Timpanogos Invite. The race isn't like the other ones with a Varsity race and JV. Its freshman/Sophomore and Junior/Senior races and the top 5 from both races scores for your team. So since I was in the Junior race I raced last. So Anders and I did a slow 1.5 mile warm up around the course just looking at it. Then we jogged over to our stuff, got water and put on our spikes. The boys ran to the starting line. At the line we did 2 strides and stretched. Since there was no team next to us all of us got to be on the line. So the gun goes off and I got a fairly decent start. I was right with Dylan for the first 3/4th of a mile. Our first mile time was 5:51, thats what the guy was yelling out but my watch said 6:07. I was like wow thats insane but oh well. So from this point on I just kept pushing my way up and passing people. I tried to pass someone every 1/4th of a mile. So we got to the 2 mile mark and my time was12:47 so I was right on pace to PR. Then tragedy struck. Some kid stopped right in front of me because he got a cramp or something and I asked if he was OK but then I ran into the pole. That brought me back a little bit. When we got to about having a half mile to go I just tried to really push the pace. I would go faster then my legs would get tired because of the squishy squishy squishy grass. So I had to slow down then speed up and this was happening until I saw Bill with about a fourth of a mile to go. From that point on I just progressively kept getting faster. This course was a good course to me because I still am on Varsity and I almost PRd. I am 3 seconds off of my PR. When I was coming down the final stretch I had about 150 meters to go and I gave it all. I started to sprint my head off. Trying to catch this kid in front of me. I didn't catch him but it was close. My final time was 19:35. GREAT JOB EVERYONE!! YOU ALL DID GREAT!!. Then when I got home from the game I did a 1 mile cooldown because I ran a half mile at the game:) Overall surprisingly I liked this course even though it didn't have any hills to catch people on. I passed them on the flat. Here is My Garmin Connect:
