Nice run!

Pain level?

From Rob Murphy on Sun, Jul 18, 2010 at 12:07:01 from 76.27.120.29

On a scale of 1-10 I'd rate the pain a 6.5. It's persistent, but I can ignore it.The ice really seems to help.

How are you doing?

From Teena Marie on Sun, Jul 18, 2010 at 17:08:02 from 174.52.45.85

6.5, huh? Sure wish it were less. :)

I'm doing pretty well. I haven't got all the niggles worked out yet, but nothing seems to be getting worse (so that's good, right?). :)

Rob, I appreciate the advice and the recommendation for the book. I haven't really been intensely monitoring my HR, just trying to figure out what it can tell me about myself and if there is some kind of advantage how I can make the most of it.

It sounds like you were in the Army at some point of your life. Care to share? I noticed reading your blog that you teach at Alta, my Dad was an assistant principal there back in the day. It has probably been 15 years maybe at little more. His name is Steve Park. Anyway, thanks again for the advice and feel free to offer more if you have any!

The same Steve Park, except he actually retired, then got took a job in Davis School District as the principal at Woods Cross.

I joined the Reserves after my freshman year at BYU, so I understand at little bit of the Enlisted side, but that life (the Reserves) wasn't for me.

This is my first platoon and I am with 2-503d, 173d BDE combat team (ABN). We are stationed in Vicenza, Italy. Haven't been able to spend much time there, basically came straight here after Ranger School.

Interesting about your dad. I had hear that he was picked to be the principal at Herriman. Maybe it had something to do with the turmoil currently in the Jordan District?

As a Ranger and an infantry officer, you definitely know what I mean about running. Quite simply, the Army runs.I remember being in the field for long periods of dime, especially in the Summer, and thinking how much easier it was for us smaller endurance athlete guys compared to, say, the ex-football guys.I remember reading a long profile somewhere about David Petraeus and what a running/pt stud he is.

I think what I liked most was the almost perfect 50/50 mix of cerebral challenge and physical challenge Army life was. I miss that.

How are you and your family (nice picture!) adjusting to life in Italy?

From Colby Park on Tue, Jul 20, 2010 at 03:36:57 from 208.79.15.130

Rob, he was picked as the principal at Herriman and was there for about a year. Doing the hirings, planning colors, mascot, desks, lockers, etc. With the District how it is and I'm sure some other factors he decided to retire and then get rehired in another district while the state laws still allowed it.

GEN Peteaus is quite the PT stud, even now. His son is in my BDE, so we've hung out quite a bit. Italy is okay, haven't had much time to spend there though. Can't wait to get back with the family and then have a few years to explore Europe. I think our explorations will come with races around the continent. We'll see how the Rome marathon goes in march.
