Got up at 4:00am and caught the bus across the street with Jaren, Tim, and Evan and his daughter.    We hung out at Ruby's Inn for a while and then Jaren and I warmed up a mile at9:03 pace.  The achilles wasn't great, but much better as I got warmed up.

When the race started, I took off pretty conservatively, I jsut wasn't sure how I could do with my broken body, but hoped for the best.  The first couple miles were in the 6:30s and then I started going faster when we hit the canyon.  The downhill with the curved road the way it was was a bit tough on my body, it hit my right leg ( quad is often tight) and my left calf (injured and non healing stupid achilles) just the right way to cause it stress.  I just tried to stay consistent throughout the race and stay tough.  Ended up getting back into the 6:30s a bit, but held on to average 6:20 for the run.  I got passed by 2 guys in the last 5 miles, but passed about 5 people, so I gained 3 spots and ended up 1:23 and 14th place.  If I would have realized the time, I might have pushed a bit harder to hit at least the 1:22s.  I was happy enough with this race, considering that my training has sucked for over a year and I have been so messed up with this injury, and still am.  2nd slowest half marathon, but I will take it!

Jaren did well, he ran smart and tough and ended up 5th place in his first half and got some prize money.  Proud of him!  It was a fun weekend in Bryce and we ende up doing well, and did some great hikes at Bryce.  headed back to Nephi for the car show parade, and the best rodeo by far in the state, the Ute Stampede.
