1 hr on the arctrainer, 34 minutes elliptical style.

Tried running on the tm again today without any success. The stop button was again hit after about 20 seconds. Discouraged doesn't even come close to the words I would use to describe how I am feeling these days.

Buck up little camper.... with the proper rest you'll definitely be back to clicking off the fast miles.

Be of good cheer fair Lily, your fitness will still be there.

On a cheering up note, when you said 'elliptical style' all I could picture was you doing it backwards in the form of a fake moon walk. It made me laugh inside my head.

Sucky! I'm sorry Lily. I hope you can get some rest and heal up.

Hang in there. It will pass, I promise. I had a year of being injured on and off. It's really frustrating, it will pass. At least it's during the icky weather months right?

Any chance you know how to swim?

Did the PT give you any exercises to do at home? If so, are they helping?

I am so sorry, Lily.

Teena I can swim. I am going to try it out sometime this week.

My PT showed me some stretches, but that's about it. Do you have anything other suggestions. Right now it's my SI joint giving me trouble and the occasional twinge in the pirformis.

From Teena Marie on Sat, Feb 05, 2011 at 23:25:06 from 67.2.102.13

Stretching is good. I am assuming he showed you stretches for the piriformis, as well as your gluteal and lower back muscles.

Maybe I am wrong, but I thought I remembered reading on your blog that he had to realign your hips. Like I said, I could be wrong. I was just thinking about an exercise that is often done when one of your hip bones is out of alignment.

Also if you could get your hubby or someone you don't mind working on your bare-bootie to work on that piriformis manually that would help as well.

I really am sorry that you are dealing with this. It just plain stinks. A couple of years ago I had a pelvis stress fracture that took about 6 months to really heal (because I kept running on it prematurely). The emotional part of not being able to run is so stinkin' tough. Hang in there!

Lily, I've loved swimming and it has been fantastic cross training. Just make sure you have a proper suit and swim cap though (and goggles). It will make all the difference in the world.

I use to have severe sciatic problems and nothing I did helped until I got realigned at the chiro. Then all of the other things I was told to do actually started working.

From Teena Marie on Sun, Feb 06, 2011 at 00:35:08 from 67.2.102.13

I'm with Craig. If your alignment is off ... well ...

A good PT (or a good chiro) should be able to help you with that. There are exercises you can do also. Depending on what the alignment issue is. Did the PT tell you what was wrong with your alignment ... or did he just try to provide some temporary space between your lower vertebrae in hopes of taking some pressure off of your sciatic nerve?

From Lily on Sun, Feb 06, 2011 at 22:20:26 from 67.199.181.73

Teena my PT said I had a rotated SI joint. So they did some cracking and pushing it back into place. They did this the first 3 appointments as well as some 'neuro flossing' stretches. The 4th appointment the SI joint seemed to have stayed in place.

I feel a lot better now than I did a month ago, but whenever I try to run, it seems the thumping up and down makes my right glute and lower back start to hurt. It's kind of a dull ache then slowly gets a little worse and a little worse. I wish I knew exactly what was wrong or what is going on. It's driving me crazy.I can't tell if it's mucsle or ligaments or what.
