U14 conditioning.  Today was too busy from the time my eyes opened.  Jam packed.  So just ran the 2.25 miles for the training for our Northern Peaks Premier 2 soccer team :D.  They were all way out of breath.   Except Olivia..we ran together.  Last 0.25 picked it up-- just 6:24 pace.  Then did HIIT.  A lot of whining!!   Jocelyn our most fit forward wasn't there. She would have been in front.  The girls have some work to do.  AP for run 7:30.

Up/down Af canyon from the mouth.  I was only going to run to four and turn around by why waste all that effort to get only part way??  So I ran the full 7.5 to the top just a bit above the reservoir to get to 7.5.  Gotta love that last steep climb to get to Tibble Fork Reservoir!! ooo baby.  I didn't stop once up or on way down...just at the top to take a drink.  No fuel. Ran VERY easy on the way down until the last four miles...ran easy pace for this decent (because I am worried about my knee and the soreness from yesterday suddenly hit my entire lower body).  Those miles were 6:40, 6:46, 6:43 and 6:40.  Iced in AF river for 12 minute to just below my chest.  So REFRESHING!!  I ran this at 1015 am and it was nice and cool the whole time but apparently my body got hot, the water was wonderful!!  AP for run (goal 1-2 minutes slower than mp)  7:55 so right on.  AP to top 8:42.  nice and easy.

Not sure why but I just decided to put on my old Brooks Pureflows.  They felt good so I went with them.  I got a great piriformis massage done by a sport medicine physical therapist for two profesionnal football teams.  And my pain is subsided...for the time being...he even most wonderfully fixed my KNEE!!  no pain on todays run.  I was just going to run easy but then decided to follow the program.  I ran at Gold's on TM for 8 x 800s.  At first with the pureflows I was thinking it was a no go because they were sooooo soft!! But I think my back and other muscles were happy after I adjusted over the warm up. The warm up was at 8:27 pace for 15 minutes, 1 percent incline. Man alive I was unsure of myself.  Paused the TM for two 60 second pauses and stretched and got a drink at the fountain.  Ran 1/4 mile in between at 8:27 for first three and 8:34 for last five.  5 x 800s were at 6:00 pace (3:00 yasso), next was 2 @ 5:56 (2:58) and last was at 5:54 (2:57)--first quarter of a mile at 5:56 and last at 5:52.  I was drenched in sweat but I felt incredible with my newly refurbished butt!!   I could use muscles I had been avoiding.  Now after each repeat I was nervous about my capabilities and doubtful mind so I would pause the TM for 45 seconds (the clock counts down from 60seconds before TM clears itself) and  I would catch my breath then start right in to my 8:27-8:34 1/4 mile jog.  I did SIX repeats before getting off the TM for a potty and water break.  No fuel except 1/2 hour before I took a caffeineFREE stinger gu-- 120 cals cause it was 1145am and I hadn't eaten much but a slice of banana bread for breakfast.  All soreness was gone after this run.  I felt great. So then I went home and made stew for dinner and two hours later ran as the PACER that all the u14 girls had to beat (9:30 per mile for two miles).  On Monday I stayed up with the fast girls on the team.  Today was a rest day after my 800s.  Everyone stayed ahead of me except my daughter Brooke who had to use the bathroom after first lap...but she came in 15 seconds after me!!  So with a potty stop that is right on!! well faster.  :D .  I ran 9:28 and 9:22 for those miles.  We run 2 and 3/4 loops around discovery park in Pleasant Grove.  After that I conditioned them more with some hiit workouts of squats and sprint and burpees and sprint etc.. for 10 events.  Then they practiced soccer.  I drove off to Amber's soccer game in Herriman.

easy peasy 70 minutes which turned out to be exactly 8 miles (69:58).  AP 8:45.  Ran at 1015am.  HOT.  But wore tank.  Felt like Summer should :D.  How on earth are kids in school???  nice to have some me time but I am lonely.  On a side note Kelli (from blog) is helping me train cause she is so awesome!! So I am supposed to run a half next weekend or 22 miles....well I work so neither sounds appealing.  So after some discussion tmr is the day for the half so  I signed up for the Murdock Canal half cause it is cheaper than Porter and right down the street from my house is the finish line.  Porter Half drops, however, 800 feet.  This one is rolling and flat with ONE little down hill portion for like 0.3 miles (in to Art Dye park).  It is going to be rough especially cause the course is so honest and because I just ran 8 x 800s yesterday. The old Julie would not be so wimpy but this NEW Julie has developed mental and physical trauma.  After SG I am really not going to be that into running.  Gonna do some strenghthening, some laps swimming and an occasional jog but nothing to kill myself over.  I am officially burnt out of running for speed.  Yesterday was a glimmer of my old self.  But I am not convinced a PR is in me at st george.  Major Mental Trauma.    So tomorrow all I hope is for a 1:32.

Decided yesterday to run this when Kelli told me I needed to run a half next week.  I work so I decided to do one this week instead of week after (though  I am tempted to run the Cottonwood half as 1:30 pacer, as I was offered).  After not even being 45 hours since my 8 x 800s and my aging body I was not quite prepared to run 13.1 on a flat course with some brief ups and downs and only a net down of 100 feet if that.  Got to race via bus (finish is 1.5 miles from my house :D)  Two porta potties as this race is small.  Just looked at results only 90 runners :D.  I was the last one in the line for the potty cause I ran 3.6 mile warm up during which I was like not feeling the adrenaline. Ha ha.  My pace was slow.  I tried to pick it up twice at end to goal pace of 7:00 per mile (1:32).  Well,  that goal pace lasted five miles then I just got weak minded and it was muggy and I have bad memories from this trail...can't figure it out completely but LONG LONG ago  I used to run this trail when it was all dirt and it was HARD.  Some of my first 18 milers were run on it after my long time off of marathoning---7 years.  I used to feel like the trail was all mine....and now CROWDED.  Even during race...runners going against us along with packs of bikers.  I just couldn't stay tough and actually feel like my ferritin (iron stores) have plummeted to single digits.  Going to get it checked this week.  This happened just before SGM 2012.  I ran a 3:18 with a ferritin of 5!!!!!!  ha ha.  That was hard...it was like I had no oxygen to my legs or nerves etc....all over body pains the entire way.  I am feeling that again and when after five miles I can't hold pace it makes me think of that year.  I know I just ran 800s and I am 45 but it is worth a shot to find out.  I can't take oral iron...makes me very ill and tried several kinds.  Best is the liquid iron by floradix.  Anyway....I was in potty line when race started and flew out of the potty...burning needlessly some energy to get to the front..I was 40 secs behind.  I caught up and was on pace for a 7:00 exactly the first mile, then a 6:57, another 7 and a 7:02 and another 6:59.  But that was it.  My brain hurt and then my music wouldn't advance and I was forced to listen to slow songs that I don't particularly care for.  I had to laugh.  At mile ate I actually stood in front of the aide station talking to the two volunteers like I was not in a race.  I was contemplating running down to my house..only 2.5 miles away.  So these two miles were 7:46 and 7:38.  Somehow I pulled my head out for the last three miles...finishing running uphill for 0.6 miles and then down into the grassy finish line thru the park...nice downhill, short but wow if you were too tired you could easily biff it on the grass.  No one did.  There was a 70 year old woman who ran a 2:27!!!! HELLO!!!  seriously?  That is so AWESOME!!!  Basically if I hadn't given up at mile 8 and 9 I would have run my goal of 1:32.  Oh well what do you do???  AP 7:09.  First woman overall.  Passed first place girl at mile 4. She came in almost two min behind me.  Ran back and forth with a 17 year old.   I caught him but then he sprinted ahead.  I chipped him by over 30 secs thanks to my potty time at the start.   The top guy ran a 1:22 and second was 1:25.  I was 7 th overall, men and women.  Went boating after race for four hours with our neighbors.  Turned out to be perfect boating weather.  Family went out to Chubby's for dinner for Troy's birthday.  First time there. We were stuffed!!!
