| Today was one of the crazier games. 6v6. My team was doing as poorly as any team ever has during the warmup- we didn't score once until the other team had scored at least 12. It was nuts. I had to cover Logan, a recent college grad who is super fast and tall. It was brutal. We finally started scoring some just in time for the game to 5, 5-4. Believe it or not, Jon's theorem again proved true and the team winning the warmup lost the game.

| XT, walking. Went to my daughter's last middle school soccer team for the regular season today. They won 12-0. My daughter is normally defense but started on offense till she scored 2 points. Even our goalie spent half the game on the offensive half, scoring once. It would be nice if they scheduled us to play the good teams more and not the new teams (felt bad for them- it's no fun for anyone to get beat that bad).
The team scored 67 points this season while not giving up a single point. Tournament starts tomorrow.

Went to the middle school soccer championship game. My daughter played every minute. They won 2-1 in a thriller, capping off an amazing season where their only loss was in a pre-season game on PK's, and in which they scored 69 goals while only allowed a single goal all season. That's amazing to me- they were only scored on once all season.

PM- We ended up with 10 people on a hot day of frisbee. My team played terrible at the start- bad throws and lots of drops. At one point, we played for 10 min with one fewer player on my team and actually did better. But we reverted to form in the game and lost 2-5. Fortunately, we won the second game 3-1.
We have middle school cross country tryouts starting next week. I'm hearing rumors there will be tons of kids showing up. Historically, we keep 16 boys and 16 girls as we have transportation limitations and we are already far bigger than the teams we race against. Last year, we had 38 runners. I'm open to more but probably not the 50-60 I'm hearing may come. I'm excited for it, though- it's fun to see the energy of these kids.

| Did a bunch of walking this morning. Tonight was the family 5k at work. I ran with my 10 year old boy, and was real proud of how hard he worked (he's not in good shape). He ran almost the whole first 2 miles, then a fair amount of the third. Finished in 37 min.

Had 9 people for ultimate, my team had a sub. Very humid. My team won 5-3.
53 kids turned in forms to tryout for cross country on Monday. We had 41 tryout last year, the most ever, and had 38 on the team. I'll have to see how they all run- I'd like to not cut any (at least, any that actually make an attempt to run), but we aren't really equipped to have that big of a team. Historically, we limited it to 30-32 runners.

PM- Day 1 of cross country tryouts. Most years, the team has about 30 members. Today we had 53 kids show up, plus 11 others who said they would come but missed today. That's a lot, and we aren't equipped for it (don't even have enough uniforms). Crazy, fun practice. Tomorrow is another practice, then next Monday is a time trial to see who will be on team. I'm trying to convince the RD to significanly increase from last year's record 38 runners.

Wife and daughters came home early from church youth camp after they cancelled it 12 hours before it was scheduled to end. Blamed high temps, but it's only 70 deg tonight (admittedly, it was record highs earlier in the week). I think this teaches a bad lesson of quitting when things are uncomfortable, rather than perservering. Again, the temps were low tonight and they were due to come home first thing tomorrow morning anyway.

My team scored first with Haley, then she went to the other team. We forced turnovers and scored 3 more times while down a player, which is very hard to do. Once it was 4-0, they scored once, before we won 5-1. No one wanted a second game in this heat.

Went to Cleveland park to scout out the cross country run for Saturday. It's a good thing I did cause some of the trails were overgrown and not usable. My kids were troopers, walking almost 3 miles with me in near 100 deg temps (and humid!). Wife and two teenagers get home from Illinois tomorrow. In the past 8 weeks, I worked from home 2 weeks while wife and 2 teens were out of town, was in Utah/Idaho for over 3 weeks, and was at work for 9 days.

| I was 10 min late to frisbee due to kid doc appt. Hot today, 6v6. Quite the back and forth battle- my team had a number of bad throws, and the other team kept throwing it to the defense (especially me?). In the end, both teams had multiple chances to score but my team won 5-4. Then we won 3-1.

| 15 people at a beautiful day for frisbee- overcast, windy, not hot. Ty dislocated his finger so I popped it back in. My team lost 3-5 then won 3-0.
Saturday, I went to one of the wettest, muddiest cross country meets of my life. There was a huge puddle that was 18 inches deep- some kids were intentionally or unintentionally diving in. It was great. It rained 2-2.5 inches today, so plenty of water.

| No official workout but did a ton of running and walking and biking as RD for the middle school cross country meet today. 12 teams, 220 runners. My boys and girls both won the team scores.
Someone pointed out to me that cross country is pretty popular at my school. 10% of the students are on the team, and another 2+% tried out but didn't make the team.

| AM Elliptical and run. Left knee is sensitive, I will try to wear my patella strap for a while. Will do strength/core class at lunch. This afternoon is cross country conference championship race. Both boys and girls teams have won every meet this year so I hope that continues. Also found out they will award All-Conference team to only the top 6 runners overall, not the top 7 as in past years. There should be some great competition so hopefully my runners really step up and run well- there's no feeling quite like pushing yourself and doing better than you thought possible.
Cross country update- both boys and girls team completed perfect seasons, winning the conference championship after winning ever prior race. Boys took 4 of the 6 All-conference slots (our 4th runner finished .02 seconds ahead of 7th place) and girls took 3 of 6 slots. My daughter earned All-Conference honors all 3 years of her middle school career, the only one to do so. It was a good season and I'll miss these kids.

Still keeping busy with the kids. My 4th kid is doing well at soccer. Her team was 7-0 going into today with 25 goals scored and only 1 given up, going against their rivial team (also 7-0, 18 goals for and 1 against). They got down 0-1 in first half but then won 3-1. My second daughter played a team they've never beat in 3 years, with both teams 6-1 coming in. They tied 0-0. My oldest daughter set another PR in the Region XC meet.

| AM turkey trot fun run. 1.5 mile loop at a high school, run as many as you want. 3 kids did 2 loops, my oldest did 2 loops, my wife and 4th kid did 3 loops, I started the fourth loop but was called in early as we needed to get home for cooking. I still ran 5.5 miles, my longest run in a while. I wasn't fast and there was no time/clock, but I was feeling better on loop 3 than loop 1.

| No time to workout the past two days. Today was frisbee in a mist/drizzle. 5v5, other team had sub. My team struggled at the start of warmup but then figured it out. Other team scored first, then my team scored straight for 5-1 win. Then we lost 1-3.

| Frisbee today was nuts- we had 20 people, so each team had 3 subs. That really sucks, too many people, not enough playing. Plus Jeff split the teams unevenly (I told him so right away). It was windy and cold, and my team had the newer players who generally were not as good. And so, for the second time ever since I've been keeping track, my team lost 0-5. Ouch. It was rough. We played some more half-hearted games, and my team won 3-1 then lost 1-3.

| An hour elliptical and 4 miles running, watching World Cup soccer. Enjoyable game- I like the looseness of the 3rd place game where the teams want to win but don't have the pressure of the title game. I've enjoyed watching most of the games.
My little D2 college, Colorado School of Mines, was terrible at football when I was there, usually winning 1-2 games per season and often losing 80-7. But now they are good and are in the D2 championship game today at 1 pm on ESPN U. Pretty cool. Of course, they are down 20-0 at halftime, so that's not desireable.

| I'd say it was just about a perfect evening of frisbee. 5v5 with no subs, which is my favorite. Temps were good, about 50 deg with a little breeze. My team was slightly outplayed in warmup but received the first kickoff. We traded points till it was 3-3. The other team broke my team to go up 4-3, then my team scored 2 straight for the win. It was really a game of possession- minimal turnovers. In fact, I think the only time my team broke the others was on the very last point, when they dropped a short pass near their own end zone. My team won the second game 3-1, with all 3 points being scored by Noah.
Overall frisbee update. I've been playing with my work group regularly since 2015, and started keeping ever score in June 2016. Since then, I've played 756 games over 531 days, with a winning percent of 61.5%. Pretty good. My favorite stat is that I'm 18-2 in games where it was a 5-0 shutout.
