Met the crew at the store for a run.  It was Ashley's first run back since the flu and after yesterday's mess, I chose to hang back with her and run a little slower.  We did the first 1/3 of the Cowtown course.  I love that course and one day I will run it.

First Saturday run since volleyball has started and first double digit run in quite sometime.  Met Wendy to run the back half of the Cowtown course.  I love this course and oneday, I will run the marathon.   We met at Tom Thumb and ran up through the Colonial to the Woodshed, up the Univeristy hill and then picked up the course.    First half was slower than the second half and avg pace was 8:32...not to bad, considering I run three days a week right now.

First long run in months...Since March 1st and I felt it, big time.  Wendy and I are contemplating running the Deseret News Marathon...she wants to BQ and just needs a summer marathon, I need to get back into shape and with work and volleyball, this is about the only marathon I can run.  So we mapped out a run that would give us some hills and down hill...and it was hard and I am out of shape.   Up Lancaster/Camp Bowie/Crestline to RiverCrest, down Hidden Road, the Trail, up Bailey to UNT and then up 7th to Hillcrest and back down Crestline/Camp Bowie/Lancaster.   I am not sure if everyone else thought it was as hard as I did, but my legs were tired.   The plan was for 12, but I had to stop at the store and be done, due to a work commitment.

Splits:  9:19, 8:39, 8:27, 8:19, 8;20, 8:34, 8:30, 8:51 (I think this is up 7th) 8:24, 8:10, 8:27

15 miles with Wendy.   It was 73 degrees and 70%+ humidity...again, not a fun day.   We started at the store and ran up Lancaster, El Campo Pershing unitl Ridgmar and ended up with a good 4.5 mile uphill climb.   We then ran down Ridgmar, 183 and the up the long climb on Roaring Springs.    Once up the top of the hill, this is where we missed the turn on Merrick and headed to far down Pershing and figured a way back to the store.  It was hot, the legs were fried and I was struggling staying focused.   We finished and after three weeks in a row of hard, hilly long runs, I think we need to run a little easier next Saturday and then hit the hills again in two weeks.

Oh, another rough day.   I have really struggled the past few weeks, tired week legs and have yet to have a run that feels like I have progressed.  Each has been a slug fest that just never ends.   We had planned on 20 today and I had a bad attitude from the moment I rolled out of bed  - tired after a very long, hard week at work and a few crazy issues at home.   I was not in the mood to run, but headed out.  I met Mo at the woodshed and we ran 3 to meet Wendy.  We had planned on the south half of the Cowtown course, which I normally love, but not today.  Not is 75 degrees + 70%+ humidity...It is draining.   My legs wouldn't move and rollers were too much.   We had to turn at campus to run Mo back and when we reach the Woodshed, I was done.  I am hoping that ending and not pushing will help going into next week and I will start to feel better physically and emotionally.

Met Wendy at Tom Thumb for the usual route up to the Woodshed and back.    There was some high lightening when we started but no thunder, so I assumed we were okay.    About .5 mile from the Woodshed the wind picked up and the temp dropped dramatically.   Sprinkling started at the turn around and a down poor by the time we were across the bridge.    It was nice to get it done, but we were soaked.  Today's run was also indicative of how much the heat has been affecting how I feel.  Once the temps dropped, I felt so much better and our pace picked up by 30 sec/mile.

After a long week, we needed to complete our long run on Friday instead of Saturday due to work/family commitments.   Wendy and I met at Tom Thumb and ran up to the Woodshed and from there we deviated from our plan to run loops and headed west on the trail, up to Ridglea Golf Course.   We ran the out and back and finished with 2.5 miles on Bellaire.   Over all the best long run of this training cycle by far, but also the easiest because it only had some rolling hills and the trail is soft.    Saw a tiny baby turtle on the trail, a beautiful sunrise and a few other gifts along the way.
