| Happy New Year!! I headed out today to just let the run happen. My knees have been bothering me lately so I wanted to take it easy and just enjoy. We ran out through Lake Park and the view of the mountains is amazing. The pond is completely frozen over and all the ducks and geese were out sitting on the ice. I felt great the entire time. I was shocked when I got back and my ave pace was 8:45 - my fastest of late. I need to take it easy more often. Happy Running!! | |

| We went to the rec center to run on their treadmills today to avoid the single digit temps. I did 6.18 there and then came home and finished .82 on my treadmill to make it an even 7. Not a great run, my hip was bothering my and I just really do not like the treadmill. On the bright side, it made the outside not seem so bad, so we will be back outside tomorrow. Happy Running! | |

I was so worried about running today because my hip bothered me all day yesterday. We were back outside again and my hip was fine. This confirms that it was due to running on the treadmill. I must change my mechanics or form. This is the bright spot of the run. As soon as I headed out I was hit with a wave of nausea. I fought this and a headache until the last mile. I felt great as soon as I made it to my kids school and knew that I had 1 mile to go. I started to wonder if it was all in my head and, just like when we were kids, as soon as we got out of doing whatever we did not want to do we would be cured. Nope, as soon as I opened my front door the nausea and headache returned. I am off to take a shower or puke or maybe both. Ave pace 9:09 Happy Running!

| No run today - I had to be to work early. I am feeling a little bit better, no more nausea, just a headache and the sore throat /sinus crud I have had the past couple of weeks. I am going to the chiropractor today for my upper back so I am going to have him take a look at my hip as well. Hopefully after that and a good nights rest tonight I will be ready to go tomorrow!! | We were originally supposed to head out at 8 this morning, but when I saw the snow still coming down like mad, we postponed. We ended up heading out at 9:30 against the wishes of our husbands. We were unsure of where to go, so we wandered around for a while. We headed up through the cemetery and thought we had found the perfect spot to run, plowed and no cars. After one lap we were told that you could not have dogs in there so we head back out looking for a place to run. We stayed on side streets and eventually ended up back home with 7.5 miles for the day. Not as long as we were planning, but with the conditions, not to bad. Ave. Pace 9:32

Ice, Ice baby.......Today's run was a success because I did not fall. Two close calls but no fall. It was the hardest run I have had in a long time. I felt like I could not get going and when I would get going I had to slow down for ice. The one bright spot of the run was when I got to finish listening to Bon Jovi sing Livin' on a Prayer - it comes pretty dang close to making up for the ice today. Ave Pace: 9:13

| Today kicked my butt!! We head up through the golf course for my favorite run. It is worth all the work for the views but I almost didn't make it today. The first 3.5 miles are uphill and today we had a head wind to contend with as well. It was very SSLLOOWW!! Our splits were 10:02, 9:41, 10:20, 9:05. You then get the views and to run down hill home. Our down hill splits were 8:12, 8:14, 8:12 & 8:33 for the last .5. Even these times were slower that I thought that they would be. Overall a good run with a lot of work & hopefully at somepoint we will see the benefits. Ave Pace: 9:05 Happy Running!! | |

| Glad to be back at it today. I realized yesterday what a disaster I am when I do not run. I had no focus at work and was pretty depressed the entire day. Today was nice - a slight breeze and not to cold. We ran a pretty flat easy course today so I really tried to push myself. I started not feeling very well the second half and I am wondering if I should be eating before I run. I haven't been but I am wondering if that is contributing to the icky stomach feeling. | Nice easy run today. Again the weather was very cooperative, warm with a slight breeze. I noticed while I was running this morning, that whenever an 80's song would come on my ipod I would pick up the pace without a lot of effort. I am thinking that I need to make a playlist of all 80's music, the best music ever! Ave Pace 9:02 Happy Running! | |

We had a great long run today. Beautiful weather! The only hiccup was that we stopped for water & GU too early. I got back to my house and my ipod read 10.43, so I decided to make it an even 11. We are off to a busy day - my husband's nephew is playing at ESA today so we are going to watch him play and spend some time with family. Tomorrow is my Libby's birthday and she is turning 7 so we have lots of preparations for a celebration. Happy Birthday Libby! Ave Pace 8:46 Happy Running!

| We headed out today for a hilly run. After our 1 mile warm up I had a hard time maintaining and even pace. I finally decided to make it a fast run. Mile 3 is the last big up hill and my split on that mile was 9:01. I was hoping for under 9 but it was a killer. The rest of the run the splits were 8;25, 8:11, 8:05 & 8:15. They were a combination of flat and down hill. I felt like I was running at those paces during miles 2 & 3. Overall a good run. I have been sleeping terrible. I am hoping that it improves this week. | Today was supposed be a nice easy run. We were headed out on a flat easy route, when last nights dinner did not agree. I had eaten too much, too late at night and it was just sitting there like a brick in my stomach. It ended up being a mentally hard run on an easy route. Not a good thing. Hopefully tomorrow is better! Ave Pace 8:53 Two other items: 1. One of my new years resolutions was to eat better. It is not going so well. I have cut back on the amount of candy and pure sugar that I am eating, but the food I am eating is not great. Way to much eating out at lunch (YEAH Cheesecake Factory, Training Table & Kneaders) and not nearly enough fruits and veggies. I am going to do better. I do pretty good at home, it is just the lunch hour that is my weakness. I need to leave the office and have a break & food is always involved. 2. I found out at work that I am going back to India twice this year. I love visiting and working while we are there and this time we will be taking 2 two week trips instead of 1 three week trip. The first trip will be this spring if we can figure out a good two week span for my coworker and I (the hard part). I am really concerned about how this will affect my running. Last time I went, I tried to run on the hotel treadmill (outside is not an option due to safety concerns) but about died. The treadmill is not my friend. I am not quite sure what I am going to do. Happy Running!

Yeah for the Kearns Olympic Oval! Yeah for new running shoes! Yeah for BUTT KICKINGS! Today we head down to the Olympic Oval to run indoors. The track was a great alternative to the treadmill and my hip is grateful. I got to wear my new shoes that came in the mail yesterday and they are wonderful. I never realize how badly I needed a new pair until I put the new pair on. We warmed up for a mile and then picked up the pace. I paced another gentleman who was keeping a pretty good pace and then it got serious. He said lets go one more lap and he took off. My legs could not keep up and a trailed most the lap. HE KICKED MY BUTT!!! (so bad, I needed a quick bathroom break) As hard as it was it felt really good. I need more of these. Thank you!! After a few recovery laps, I got back to running and we finished up. It was a good run. ave pace 8:43 Happy Running!

| The Oval does not open early on Thursday's so we headed to the rec center. The place with an indoor track that 11 laps = 1 mile. 80 laps later we had completed our run. I had several laps in which I ran hard on the straightaways and took it easy on the turns and a few overall faster laps. I did not know if we would make it or not. After 1.5 miles, my body knew that there was a bathroom available and that I should use it. At 2.5 miles I thought " If I can just make it to 3 miles, I can be done" Pretty soon the lovely lady from Nike + Ipod said " 3.5 miles to go" and I thought I will run until Paula has to leave. She was really patient and waited for me to get to 7. It is over. We decided it is not something we would choose to do often, but a much better alternative to becoming a human popsicle. | Ran today out near the SF airport by our hotel. There is a bike/fitness trail that I followed and repeated several times to get to 10 miles. It was probably the worst run I have had in months. I wanted to just sit down and cry. My legs could not get going and I felt like the first 6 miles I just tried to survive. I took some GU at mile 6 and then felt a little better until the last 1/2 mile. My feet hurt and my legs had enough trying to battle my mind. I am so glad I am done. Ave Pace 9:06 Happy Running!

I need a major attitude adjustment. Another horrible run, but my legs felt better. I do not know if it the weather or what but I am struggling right now to be motivated. I have nothing else to say. Sorry so depressing. Happy Running! After some "deep" reflection, I have come up with 10 reasons as to why I am having a crappy running week: 10. It is too cold 9. Jet Lag 8. No new episodes of the Office since November 7. Bad eating habits 6. My husband is out of town and will be for about 30 days over the next three months 5. It is too cold 4. No new episodes of the Office since November 3. It is too cold 2. It is too cold 1. I will not reach my mileage goal for the week because I missed on Monday and have a 5k on Saturday. ( I think this is about 99% of my bad attitude) Now I know why, I just have to figure out how to fix it. It is amazing what a hot shower and a little cream of wheat can do for a person!

| No run yet today - might try to get in a few later on. My husband is still out of town and kids had to be to school early today. I have been thinking about my goals for tomorrow, under ideal conditions they would be: Gold - under25:20; Silver - under 26:00; Bronze - completion. Due to the fact that the weather is supposed to be bad and we will probably be running on a snow pack I am changing the to be: Gold - under 26:00; Silver - under 26:30; Bronze - completion. Hopefully, it won't be be windy. Happy Running!

I was more nervous for today's race than I have been for a long time. I really did not know what to expect. I have not run this race before and with the week I have had, who knew what would happen. I was also having serious "what to wear issues" . I was not sure how the weather would be out by the lake but it could not have been better. I started out much faster that I normally do and it took me about 1/2 mile to get into a rythm. I soon realized my toes were completely numb. This is a first, even with all our winter running. My calves started there new aching at about 1 mile and I thought that I might be in trouble but they behaved. It seemed forever to get to the turn around. I finally made it to the turn around and at this point I was feeling pretty good. I had taken off my fleece before we started and was still overheating. Off came the gloves and ear warmer and I kept running. The last .25 is a little up hill and I struggled just a bit, but pushed through. I was so excited to see my time when I came into the gate. A new PR. Overall, it was a pretty good race on a flat course. I got to meet Brent and Sylvia and chat with them for a few minutes and there were other FRB there as well. Happy Running!

| Holy Wind!!! Avoided the wind and went to the Oval this morning. Several others had the same thought, because it was crowded. Saw Andee and her neighbors. My Nike + ipod is dead and I need to get a new foot pod, so I wore my watch and counted laps. It was a nice relaxing run and a good way to start the week. | Today is my son Jake's birthday. He is 13. I am officially the parent of a teenager........... We headed out today very grateful to be back outside. We headed on an out & back course that is up hill for the first 3.5 and then down hill home. We had a little head wind on the way out but got going and felt pretty good. After about a mile we picked up the pace and by 2 we were going strong. At this point I was planning on just stopping by the bus stop to say Happy Birthday to Jake but I realized how embarased he would be of his sweaty, stinky mom with frozen hair. I started to wonder if I could make it home before he headed to the bus stop. At this point, I began seriously picking up the pace. I made it home before he left and gave him a big hug and then headed back out to finish up with Paula. She had just passed my street so I started after her and chased her down to her house. She walked in her door just as I got there. I cooled down with another mile to make it 8 for the day. One the down side today.......This is probably the worst day I have experienced with drivers. Only a very few moved out of the way for us. The majority didn't even slow down. Overall a very good run! Happy Running! | |

| Back to the Oval to avoid snow being blown in our faces and being hit with a car. Warmed up for a mile and then my friend the Butt Kicker was ready to go. I hung with him for the first lap and fell a little behind on the second. Much better than last time. Thanked him as he headed for work and then finished up with another 5.75 miles to equal 7.25 for the day. My legs were really tired today from yesterdays run but they survived. Back outdoors tomorrow. Hard to believe we miss being outside, but we do. Happy Running! | |

| As we ran into the wind today I had a new thought regarding our winter weather. I wonder if it is like a church calling, it is not going away until we learn to love. So with that in mind I tried really hard today to "love" the wind. I did not love it, but we had a good run. We pushed hard with about 2 total miles into the wind and the rest in a cross wind. It was good to be back outside and not so good almost being hit by a car. I guess being in a cross walk with the right away is not enough for some people. Hope you all have a good day! I have been looking forward today for a long time. I have been wanting to get in a good quality long run. It seems like with the holidays and travel it has just been really difficult. We headed out early to avoid traffic and ran a loop around the "big" block. Our plan was to repeat this 3 times and then add on a little at the end. During the second loop there was another close call with a car and I 'd had enough. We finished the second loop as planned and then wove around the neighborhood until we had reached our goal. We had 3.5 separate long uphill miles and then mostly flat with a few down hills. We used to run the loop one time and call it good and haven't run it at all in the last 3 months. I could really tell our training has paid off because the hill on the first loop was almost easy and the on the second loop it was more difficult but nothing like before and then our third hill was slow but not to bad considering it was in the 9th mile. I wish our overall pace had been a little faster but we felt very comfortable the entire time and could have added on and felt great. Ave pace 9:04 Happy Running!

| Great run today in the snow! It was nice to be outside today with the light snow falling. It felt like we were really pushing today and going at a pretty good pace, however it was not so. The roads were slick and we ended up with an ave. pace of 9:08. It felt a lot faster than that but I think that it was because of the conditions. Off to a completely insane day at work. | Today I accomplished to goals I have been thinking about over the past month. The first was to run 7 miles in under 1 hr. Today at the 7 mile mark my time was 58:57 (I pause my watch at traffic lights, I hope that is okay). I probably would not have even known but I checked my watch with 1/2 a mile to go. YEAH!! I felt great at the 7 mile mark and the ran home what I thought was an easy mile but my split was 8:20 which I consider a fast mile for me. (Time to re-evaluate what is fast for me) The other goal I accomplished was to run a sub 8:00 mile. I really did not think that this had happened today and thought that it would take more time but when I ended my work out, my Nike + ipod thing mentioned that I had a new personal record for the mile. So before sitting down here I sent my work out to Nike and mile #3 was 7:36 - I had no idea I could run that fast. So today was great!!!! Ave Pace 8:27 Happy Running! | |

| As soon as we headed out today my legs told me today would be a recovery run, nice and slow. That was okay with me. We warmed up for 1.5 miles and then I let Paula go ahead. I tried to keep the space between us the same. This was working out really well for me because it wouldn't allow me to pick up the pace or push it more than I should for a recovery run. At mile 5 I looked up and she was way ahead of me. I picked it up and with a little help from Journey's "Don't Stop Believing" this child of the 80's caught back up to her. We finished up and then I added on to give me 8 for the day. Ave Pace 8:54 Happy Running! | |

| No run today, giving my tired legs a rest before the 10K tomorrow. Ate Cafe Rio yesterday for lunch and a shake last night........tummy not feeling so good. I feel a lot better going into tomorrow's race than I did the 5K. I know what to expect. I am dreading the monotomy of the course though. There is not much out there to look at. My PR in a 10K is 52:09 and that was at the Spectrum 10k last year. That course is mostly down hill and fairly easy. The SLCTC course is flat as a pancake. Which is okay, but I like hills. You work hard getting up them and then you get to go down :) I am going to say: Gold - sub 53:00, Silver - sub 54:00 and Bronze - completion. I need to be more aggressive in my goals but this is a big "mental" test for me so we will see how it goes. Good Luck to everyone running tomorrow!! Happy Running!

| This morning was not a perfect race preparation morning. I slept late because I had been up late working the night before. Got up, checked the weather, decided what to wear and then it started to unravel. My husband is out of town again and my kids were fighting over crayons (why can't you ever have enough). Couldn't find my socks, any socks. I have tons of running socks and could not find a matching pair. Paula showed up and dropped off her daughter who was going to watch my kids and I ran out to go and then realized I had forgotten my gloves and ear warmer. Ran back in, grabbed my stuff and this time we left. We met up with Kim and her husband early and visited with her and Brent & Sylvie. We headed out to line up and were ready to start. I had a rough start. I could not get going. Finally, got into a rythm at about the 1 mile mark. The had an aid station at around 2 miles and I went to grab a drink and ended up with gatorade. I have not had good experiences with gatorade in the past and new better than to drink it but I did. Took only a couple of sips and then about 2 mins later, up it came. I still felt okay and really felt pretty good until about 4.25. I really started to fade here. I was tired and had no fuel. I hung in there and started feeling a little bit better at about 5.75 and then started to push a little towards the finish. At the the 6 mile mark, I could feel a girl just a step behind me so I picked it up a little. She did too. It became a sprint to the end and it was very close at the end. I was in the chute first so I am saying I beat her.
After I finished, I went up and met Kim and we cheered in Jennifer, Paula and Sylvia. The FRB was well represented today. Everyone did really well and it was great to get to meet them and visit for a while.

| Today we ran on the shoulder of the road, the DRY shoulder of the road!! I had forgotten what is was like. It was a beautiful thing!! I had a difficult time getting going this morning. The first couple of miles were rough but as we hit the 2.5 mile mark we had a good up hill stretch. I told myself to really push it up the hill. I felt much better after I had done that. I felt great until we hit about 8 miles and the last mile was pretty slow. My stomach was starting not to feel so well and I was needing to get home fast. Made it home okay. We had only planned on 8 today so 9 was a pleasant surprise. Felt good most the time and Paula ran awesome today!! Ave Pace 8:55 Happy Running!!

| Yesterday after I got home and started getting ready for the day my Achilles tendon started bothering me. I wasn't sure why or what had happened but there was definitely a nagging feeling, no pain. By last night it wasn't too bad so I though I would see what the morning brings. I got up and it felt fine so I thought that I could probably run, but just take it really slow. We headed out and warmed up incredibly slow (11 min pace) and I only felt it when I was headed up a short but steep hill. The rest of our route would be flat or slightly downhill so I told Paula to go ahead and I would stay behind her. (this to prevent me from going to fast). I felt good the rest of the run and did not seem to have any issues. When I got home, though I could definitely feel it as I stretched. It almost feels like a burning sensation, so I am wondering if it is just inflamed. I am not really sure how to deal with this do I a) continue running and go by feel, b) do I take a few days off to give it some rest c) some option I do not know about. I would probably pick A but I really do not know if that is best and I do not want to turn this nagging into a bigger injury. Ave Pace 8:59 Happy Running!

I ran today with the St. George club. The guys and Marcie started out and I ran with Linda. We had a good run from Utah Hill into St. George. I was a little nervous because of the hills we were seeing as we drove out. They weren't too bad. It was all going well until mile 13. At miled 13 I was getting a little tired but doing okay and then at mile 14 it got really tough. The last two were definitely very difficult for me but overall I am very happy with the run. It was my longest run ever and our ave pace was 8:04. We were around 7:55 until the last two miles. A big THANK YOU to Linda for sticking with me the entire time and encouraging me along. Another THANKS to the club and Marcie for letting me tag along.

I ran today with Christi. We had a great run through Santa Clara Heights and Ivins. It was nice to chat and visit. As you all already know, she is GREAT!! My legs are very sore from Saturday's run so a little active recovery helps. Back home to the frigid north today:(

| Good run today back in the cold! It is amazing how fast I became wimpy. My legs felt pretty good, my calves are still a little sore from Saturday but not too bad. It was good to be back with Paula, she is great. In other news, my husband comes home tonight and is town for almost a whole week!!! Ave Pace 8:31 Happy Running! | |

Today was one of the days that I hate. Running was a chore. I was not happy about going out, I just went because I knew that consistency pays off. The first 2.5 miles all I could think about was turning around and going home, then Tim McGraw's "How Bad Do You Want It" came on my ipod and gave me an attitude adjustment. It was small at first but the run was better from there on out. Glad it is done, hopefully tomorrow is better. Ave Pace: 8:32 Happy Running! Oops! I stated wrong yesterday when I said my husband is in town for a week, He is actually home until March 6th! I almost died from shock!!

| We decided to give the cars a break from us today and stayed in our neighborhood. This made for a pretty crazy run, winding in and out of lots of little streets. The snow was not too bad, just lightly falling and very wet! Paula and I went 7 and then I ended up adding on 1 more mile to make it 8 for the day. I had a much better attitude today and that in and of itself is an accomplishment. Ave Pace 8:50 Happy Running!

| Another Friday, another no run day. I have really got to get up to six days a week. I usually have to be to work early on Fridays so that does not help. Taking today off also as a rest before the 15K tomorrow. Hoping to finish under 1 hr 20 min. and feel good. The races every other weekend are taking its toll. Not physically but mentally it has been a lot with work and family. I will be glad when it is over and there will be a few weeks before the Spectrum 10K. GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE RUNNING TOMORROW!! | Today was the last in the series!!! The weather was a little warmer and occasionally we had some sun which made it even warmer. Lots of the same people from the previous two races but the total number of runners was smaller. I had a good start and settled into my pace really easily today. I felt great up until mile 7. At mile 7 my knees really started to bother me and my legs really became tired. The last two miles were pretty difficult and similar to the last two miles of last weeks 16 mile run. When I got to the 9 mile mark I was so happy to only have .3 left. I felt really good about my time today, I was right on with "Sasha Science". In reflecting back over the series I am really glad that we signed up. It has given us a good idea of were we are at and what we need to work on to develop over the coming months. I really need to focus on longer runs and continue to build up my endurance for races like today and the half marathons and marathons. It has been great to see all the bloggers at every race and the FRB has been so well represented. Visiting and getting to spend time before and after the races is the best part! Happy Running! | |

| Nice run today in a light drizzle. It was warmer than I had expected and I ended up taking off my fleece at about 1 mile. My knees bothered me quite a bit the first couple of miles and I almost went home to give them some rest. They ended up doing okay with a twinge here or there. I look up online, the most reliable source ever, and it doesn't seem too serious. I am going to go up to the running store tomorrow and get some more (better) advice. Anyways, good run and busy Monday! Ave Pace: 8:32 Happy Running! | |

| Today started out as such a good run. My knees were feeling much better and we were moving right along until 4.5 miles. All of a sudden I had this pain right behind my knee cap on my right knee. It did not work it self out so we walked for a couple of minutes and everything seemed fine. We continued on and there were little twinges but nothing serious until 6.5 miles. I had to stop at a stop light and when I got started the pain was back and I could not run on it. So for the next .5 we walked and I tried to jog on it but would only make it a few steps. Finally we were able to go again for the last .5 at a very slow pace and made it home. I am going today to the running store for some advice but I think a day of rest is probably in order. Another Rant: I understand that I am putting myself at risk by running on the shoulder of the road or in the road, however, when I am in a lit cross walk and crossing with the "little green guy" I have the right of way. Today was the second time that I have almost been hit by a car turning left while I am crossing in the cross walk. Pay attention!! I had to get it off my chest, because all I can do at the time is stop and stare at the car that is still oblivious to almost taking my life. Maybe I am a little dramatic but seriously!?! | Booo........... Got up excited to go out and see how I felt. Ran with Paula for 1 mile. Here's the deal - Left knee same ( but I think with time and better shoes it will feel better ); Right knee, (this is the one giving me major grief) mostly better except for when I turn, then the sharp pain comes back. Right arch of my foot up to the inside of my ankle - on fire. After a mile and still not feeling great I am thinking a few more days rest will let my body heal. I am hoping that I will be okay for the Spectrum 10 K in two weeks. If anyone has any suggestions, I welcome them. Happy Running and Resting? | |

| Went out today to test and see how I felt. We had a pretty slow pace, 9:40, but I felt okay. My arch is still sore off and on and my knees felt pretty good most the time. There was just one instance that I had the sharp pain. In thinking through all of this more and understanding a little more of what is going on, I think this all relates back to my tight calves about a month ago. The tight calves pulled on my foot creating Plantar Faciitis. This in turn is causing my gait to be off which is hurting my knee. I all but 100% confirmed this today when I did just that and that is when I go the sharp pain. So today I will continue rubbing my legs down with the "stick", and icing and rolling my baseball under my foot. The plan is to take it easy again tomorrow and then work back up next week. Enough of my whining about my "injuries" Today is 80's day at my work. We have been planning for almost two months and have been very excited. I was supposed to go to the DI last night and get my costume but because of kids and baseball practice and movie nights (no school in our district today) and a work crisis it did not get done. So I am left to peg my pants and flip up my collar. I want my pink high heels with socks and big bows and really, really big hair. Not happening. Happy Leap Year & Happy Running! | |

| Headed out today in the wind. I am sad I missed so many good weather days last week. The first 3.5 were very tough. I felt like I was pushing as hard as I could and going so slow. The legs were dead. We head up a 1 mile gradual hill and I started feeling much better and I pushed as hard as I could and I could feel my old self coming back. We decided to add on a little to give us 7 for the day and we ran the 1 mile flat (which felt great also) and then turned for the winding downhill home. The first third was pretty gradual and I could feel my quad tightening but I was okay. The second third is steep downhill. Soon as we started down the hill my knee pain return with a vengence. We walked home. The good thing is I have a good idea where to target some massage to relieve the knot. We will run on flat elevation the rest of the week. I am pretty unsure about the Spectrum 10k at this point because so much is downhill. Overall I am happy with todays run because I had some moments of feeling really good with good running and I have some ideas on why there is still some residual knee pain and how to resolve it. When I left my knee actually felt worse but as the day has gone on it is feeling better. I am going to stretch good tonight during my 4 hr long conference call and then take tomorrow off and we will see what Saturday brings. I keep telling myself, a little time off now is better than a lot of time off later. Hopefully, Saturday is a good run. Happy Running & Deep Tissue Massage! | |

| Back at it today!! I still was very unsure what to expect today. We headed out and the first 1 1/2 miles my knee was still pretty sore but I told myself to just keep trying to work through it. I ended up feeling really good. I still cannot get any sort of speed but I ran the entire time and never had to stop. We had to stop a light with about 1 mile left and my definitely tightened up so I will need to remember to keep moving at the lights. The route up until the last .25 had been flat or slightly up hill, the last .25 we took on a slight down hill to see how the knee would hold up. I could feel it tighten a little more but I did not have to stop. I think that today is the first step on the way back. I just need to remind myself to continue to take it slow and build back up. I will be in Seattle for work on Monday and so I will be running on my own. This will be hard to do with out Paula reminding me. Ave Pace 9:09 Happy Running! | |

Ran today in Bellevue. I head out and did not my flat boreing run so went the other way. Probably was not a good decision. It was incredibly hilly, 12% grades. I felt okay, the knee hung in there but, it was a very difficult run. I am amazed at how much I have lost over the last 2 weeks. The downhill was okay, just really slow. A big thank you to the 7-11 that let me use their bathroom. It was one of the cleanest public bathrooms I have ever been in. Overall felt pretty good, I just cannot really get going or push off on my right leg.

| Went out with Paula tonight. Again it was a very painful 1.5 mile warm up and then I was good to go, except that I have forgotten how to run with out a limp. Even with the knee not hurting, I am still limping. I tried several times to correct my form but really struggled. I made it to 5.4 and then my IT band started to hurt a little. I immediatly stopped and walked for a minute then tried again. Still hurting so we walked home. I dropped Paula off and had .1 to get back to my house and I decided to run it. It almost feels better if I try to run faster than it does going slow, but I still have a limpy form. Overall a good day and we will go at night again tomorrow because I have a 6:00 am meeting in Ogden tomorrow. Hopefully today's run is a step in the right direction. Ave Pace: 9:38

READ AT YOUR OWN RISK: CAN CAUSE SEVERE DEPRESSION or A STRONG DESIRE TO TELL THE WHINEY GIRL TO QUIT BLOGGING No run today. My knee is very sore and needing a break. After last nights run I stretched and sat in an ice bath for 15 min, I am in worse shape today than I have been the entire time. I am trying to do everything recommended but still no luck. I am going to try to get out tomorrow. I also have an appointment with a sports med doctor next week, due to the pressure from my hubby and co-workers. In other bad news, my massage girl is moving. I was planning on going back this week and called and no appointments left and Friday is her last day. Very, Very Sad. Short of a miracle tomorrow, I am also not going to run the Spectrum 10K. This is probably the biggest disapointment because it is my favorite race. I still have not signed up for the Salt Lake half. I am giving myself another week or two but if no significant improvement I will not be running that either. I keep telling myself it is more than racing and I would still run even if there was never another race. I also felt pangs of sadness, almost tears, when I saw so many runners out in our absolutely gorgeous weather today, knowing I could barely walk, let alone join them. Happy Running! Update: Took a nice long hot bath and stretched and massaged my legs. When I got out my knee felt so much better. Finished stretching and rolling my legs with the stick. Added on with some ab work and wimpy push ups. Threw out my Diet Coke. I decided it was time. I have a stash I need to get rid of, but I decided enough is enough. I am done! (Hold me to it!)

| New Concept: Stop running before more pain sets in. I had decided that it would probably be a good idea to stop running while I was still feeling good instead of running until I was in pain. So for the next little while I am limiting my miles. Three it is. The first mile is all warm up and trying to feel good. The last 2 felt pretty good. I was wearing a patella band and it did not eliminate the twinges but my form was much better, very little limping. So a windy, slow, low mileage day for me. Ave Pace: 9:53 Happy Running! | |

| Today was pretty darn great! It wasn't overly cold and my knee felt pretty good. Normally the first mile is pretty painful and the pain is a sharp pain. But not today. Today there was very little pain and when there was pain, it was dull and achy. I felt really good today. I felt it start to tighten a little as we were finishing up, so I know that three miles is it for right now, but 3 sharp pain free miles. Ave Pace: 9:33 Happy Running! | |

| So I blogged all this this morning and then lost it. Due to a completely insane day at work, I am just getting back to it now. Here is what I remember: My husband is finally in town for a while - YEAH! As a welcome home gift he inflicted severe pain ( deep tissue massage ) on my legs. Yesterday was the best they have felt in a long time. So in my world I was back to 100%. Got up this morning and expecting to be 100% and was very disapointed when the knee pain returned and nagged for the first 3 miles. The first 2 miles were horrible and I really did not even think that I would make it to 3. At about 3.5 they started feeling a little better and by 4 there was no pain at all until a little tightening at the very, very end. Not sure what to think but I will take it. My knee was sore this morning (esp with stairs) but feels good now. All part of the rollercoaster ride called recovery. Ave Pace 9:17 Happy Running!

| WHOO HOO!!! Today was my first pain free run in almost a month. My husband worked my legs over again last night and today I benefited. I wasn't sure what to expect, however I was hoping for at least the same as yesterday. We started out really slow and but no pain and then after about 1 1/4 mile uphill (slow) warm up, we decided to see how it would go. Our overall ave pace was 9:16 but I feel like it was faster than that for the remaining 4.75 miles. I am still not able to really push of and go but I am so happy with today! Happy Running! | |

I had to go to Bozeman yesterday for a presentation and then took the early morning flight home today. I am going to give myself the day off and I see the doctor today.
Happy Running! Update: I went to the doctor today. They did some xrays of my knees and the looked fine. He said that cross training and only running every other day would be a good idea, but did not have much more to say. I am glad that there is nothing wrong only because my knee has felt great the last 2 days. But somewhat disapointed he did not have more to say.

I ended up not getting out last night because my husband invited some friends over to watch the BYU game and the Jazz game. Out went running and in came the junk food! I at way to much!!
Paula and I headed out today and my calves were tight and so I was unsure what to expect. About 1.5 miles into our run we had a 1 mile hill (gradual). I started feeling pretty good and by the top I felt great. The enitre run felt like I was making up for the past 4 weeks of hit and miss running and never feeling good. Mile 5 was by far the fastest, if I had to guess it would have been right around 8 min, maybe a little bit less. My Nike+ thing lost my workouts, time to get serous about a garmin. Anyways a fantastic run - they do not come around very often. Good stretching afterwards and I have some more muscles for my husband to work on tonight.

Happy Running! Sad Sad News: I went to go leave for work today and my husband asked me to wait a minute and come to the back yard for a minute. We had be vandalized last night. There is a church behind our house and kids hang out and skateboard in the lighted parking lot. The fence between us capstones on each of the posts. The kids had knocked them off onto the pool. Needless to say they ripped two big holes into the cover and made a huge mess! The blog is not really the place to talk about this kind of stuff but I am so angry and I needed some place to let it out!!

| Paula and I had planned a long run today. Okay, not that overly long, but considering the past month it is fantastic. We headed out and ran through Lake Park and then through the new Highbury area, back through the rec ctr and home. It was really pretty uneventful, we saw 5 airplanes land all within a few minutes of each other, yes boring! When we headed through the outside trail at the rec ctr, tons of people were lined up for the Easter Egg Hunt and not really wanting to move for the runners. Like I said uneventful run, but a very good run at that! I have to give a huge THANK YOU to Paula for organizing our neighborhood Easter Egg hunt. | We ran a route today that we used to run once a week. There is a big mile long hill at 1.25. I really pushed up the hill today because I could see the effects of being injured. It was harder than it should have been, however, I feel that I ran it very hard so I am happy with that. Took it easy for 1.5 and then pushed really hard again for the next mile. It has a gradual down hill, but nothing compared to the up hill portion of this route. I barely got it under 8 min at the very end. Even though there were two portions of this run that I really pushed hard, my brain kept wanting to check out and have a nice easy run, I had a difficult time staying focused today. So for tomorrow a nice easy run. Ave Pace: 8:51 Happy Running! | |

Nice slow easy run. I let my mind check out and just really took it easy today. I cannot believe it was 49 degrees when I left - I almost wore shorts. I had a dream last night that I was doing lots of squats and plies to strengthen my knees - If only dreaming it had the same effect. We got vandalized again yesterday - probably the same kids. So now we have two more tears in the pool cover. The police came and said there is not much we can do unless we catch them in the act, so my husband is going to put all of his TV Crime knowledge to work on catching them, I will keep you updated. I also fell of the wagon yesterday and had a Diet Coke. It had been an absolutely terrible day at work and with the vandalizem I could not take it any more. Not quite sure if I am ready to climb back on or not. Ave Pace: 9:08 Happy Running!

| Now that my right knee is feeling better, it is time for the rest of my body to have issues. I have been having this pain in my left calf right where the calf muscles meet behind the knee. I have been stretching and having my husband work on it but it is still bothering me. When I got up today I was limping a little so I decided to call it a cross training day. Paula and I went to the gym and did the machine kind of like an elipticle and then rode the bike. I definitely could tell my legs needed the cross training because they are very week. My new pain bothered my a little bit during the work out but was gone by the time we were done. Lots of stretching when I got home and some planks for core work. | Went out in the afternoon due to the crazy weather in the morning. I did 1.5 while my daughter was at softball but my left calf was in a lot of pain. It radiates from the middle up to my knee to down to my ankle, all on the outer calf. I went hope and did a little more on the treadmill but still the same. I had my husband work on the muscle and we found a really big knot that was pretty deep, so I will see how it goes. Happy Running! |

Needless to say, I have a very large bruise on my outer calf today and it is still very sore. I am thinking that some time off completely is in order. I do not think I will be running Salt Lake. Complete Rest, Day 2: Not much to report. Still a big bruise on my leg from the DTM. There is still some pulling so apparently we have not quite found the knot causing all the problems. It still hurts a little to walk on and yesterday we went bowling and it did not like that at all. Spent this morning watching my girls play softball. They both played really well. Felt slightly ill all afternoon, then went to pick up Camdyn from my sister's and she sent home left over Easter Candy, so I contributed to helping her get rid of it by consuming lots of it. I had to walk about .3 miles today to a meeting and another .3 back to my car and I walk very fast because I was cold and forgot a jacket. All this in a low wedge hill with out any pain - This is a good sign. Running tomorrow with Paula for a short easy run. My eating was much better today- breakfast, missed lunch do to my meeting but had a yogurt and crackers later in the afternoon.

I am looking forward to Conference weekend. It is always so relaxing and nice to just sit on the couch and listen. Ave Pace 9:17 Happy Running!

| Back in Montana for work until Wednesday night. The weather here cannot make up its mind - snow, sun clouds, lots of snow, sun, flurries. Ran 4 on the hotel treadmill: Mile 1 - 9:22 Mile 2 - 9:05 1% incline Mile 3 - 8:46 1% incline Mile 4 - 9:12 Very technical report from me. Not the norm. Leg felt pretty good after the first mile. | Couldn't run yesterday due to some serious stomach issues. I decided it would be better to avoid the hotel treadmill. Got up today ready to go at 5:30 and the hotel fitness center did not open until 6:00 am. I did not have time to wait because I have to be to the hospital early. I wish you could get credit for effort and intent. I have learned a valueable lesson, however. When traveling bring both indoor and outdoor gear. Back at it tomorrow in SLC. Happy Running! | |

| Glad to be back home -- hopefully I will get to stay home for a few weeks before the "big" trip. Went out with Paula and we ran the big block. The second mile is all up hill and my leg was feeling really good today so I was able to push just a little. The rest is flat and downhill and felt really good. I am very excited about todays run but have to remember to still take it easy and not rush back to fast. I am looking at my very sad pathetic mileage over the last few weeks. Not very good at all. Hopefully todays run is the start of the road back not just fluke. Ave Pace 9:00 Happy Running! | |

| An easy 3 with Paula. My leg was a little achy the entire way and I realized that I did not stretch enough after yesterday or roll out my legs with "the stick" because I was running late. Extra stretching and rolling today plus a little IB and I should be okay. Wish my husband was in town to work on my calf but I will have to wait until Sunday. Ave Pace 9:30 Happy Running! | |

| Today was my longest run since March 25. It felt pretty good overall. My leg felt better as time went on but I tired easily due to lack of training over the last few weeks. We had a good headwind the last couple of miles and I feel so slow, it is frustrating. Off to a busy Saturday filled with girls softball and scout service projects.
Hope everyone has a good weekend. Ave Pace 9:13 Happy Running!

| So much for staying home for a while. I had to go to Cedar today for a business meeting and so I ran tonight at the hotel. I did 2.5 on the treadmill and then overheated. The first mile wasn't too bad. I was watching Marathon Challenge on PBS, it is a story of regular people preparing to run the 2007 Boston Marathon. It was pretty interesting and kept me entertained for the first 2 miles. It ended and I could take no more and decided to brave the wind and go outside. I ran 2 more outside. The first mile was into the wind and up Leigh hill - not really my intention but I kept thinking go this point and then you can turn around. I felt good at every marker and ended up making it up the hill and then ran back to the hotel. My leg felt really good the entire time! YEAH! I registered for St. George yesterday and I am getting really excited. It is nice to be somewhat motivated and feeling good! I am still extremely slow and that is frustrating, but it will come. | Ran with Paula this morning. We went on a flat monotonous route to keep it easy on my legs and because I was limited on time today. It was all very uneventful until the last .25. I am not sure what happened but all of a sudden my vision became double vision. We stopped for a minute while I tried to figure out what was going on and nothing was working. I figured just get home and see how the rest of the morning is and by the time I was home my vision was back to normal. Not sure what happened but I am glad it was only temporary and hopefully it doesn't happen again. Ave Pace: 9:00 Happy Running! | |

Went out today in the horrible wind. I ran the big block and battled the wind the entire time except for 1 mile, when I had it at my back. I felt really good the entire time other than tired towards the end. No leg issues, no vision issues - it is miracle!! I feel really good about getting out today in the wind and completing my longest run since March 25, however I am disappointed with my overall pace 9:12. I really feel like I cannot get going right now, but I am trying to be patient as I build back up. Happy Running!

Ran with Paula today. The first 2.25 miles were up hill and then we have a small flat section and then come back down. I felt really good again which is giving me hope. I have noticed though that it takes me quite a while to warm up and my first mile is always extremely slow. Today it was around 11 min. I have to complain for just a minute about the weather. I am very glad that there was no wind today, but it is April 21 and I am still dressing for winter!! Where is spring? I am becoming really frustrated with the lack of spring! Paula and I then finished with another 2.5 to make it just over 5 total for the day. We were very slow today so I am not even thinking about the pace. My leg is sore from yesterdays run so I think a day of rest is in order. Happy Running!

| Ran with Paula again this morning. We did a fairly easy route - 1.5 miles up hill to start and the down hill and flat the rest of the way. The last 1.5 was into the wind so we worked a little. I felt really good and can see that even though it is going slow, I am coming back. I feel really good at being at 21 miles for the week. Next week I would like to work to the 23 -25 range and increase one run to 7 miles. I also need to be better about cross training on the non running days. I was going to do that this week but failed. | Ran the first 2.46 with Paula and Jolynn at a 10:17 pace. Jolynn is doing a great job and she and Paula are going to run Race for a Cure in a couple of weeks. Ran the next 4.15 with Paula and we did the big block. It is amazing how much better I felt being completely warmed up rather than warming up as we were going up the hill. I pushed up the hill really hard today and then tried to keep a good pace the rest of the time. Our ave pace for the second part of our run was 8:50. Considering 1/4 of this route is up hill, I feel really good about this pace. I am staying home from work today to spend some time with my family before I head to India. I am hoping we can work in the yard today and get caught up around the house - Such big plans and such little time. Ave Pace: 9:15 Happy Running! | |

We stayed on mostly and East / West route to avoid as much wind as possible. The last part by myself had a some headwind as I went south. My body felt pretty good today. I had a migrane last night I think due to hydration issues. I drank the normal amount when I got back from running but then spent 4 hrs outside working in the yard and cleaning up and I did not drink enough to compensate for that. It was one of the worst I have had in a long time. I need to remember this as the weather gets warmer. Ave Pace 9:30 Happy Running!

Sent her home to rest and I went home and went back to bed. I could not bring myself to run in this winter weather. It is acceptable in January, February, March and may be a little April, BUT MAY!!! Ran the rest with Paula and we stopped by her parents to feed the pigs and then finished up. My leg was back to bothering me today - I didn't have time to stretch after Saturday's run, very bad choice. I stretched good today and hopefully my scrapping tools come soon. | Ran in London today. It was very warm and I was overdressed, I am just not used to running in beautiful weather. Ran up past Westminster Abbey and the House of Parliment and then got lost in some residential streets. I head towards the sun and wound up back down by the river and then I could find my way back to the hotel. I was very surprised that my pace was 9:12. I woke up with the worst migraine I have had in years. Throwing up and barely being able to move. It was horrible. I had brought my medicine with me and took some but it took about 5 hrs to feel back to normal. At that point everyone I came with and our friends here all said that I should stay back at the hotel. I have now spent the last 8 hrs laying around watching TV and eating junk. Not productive at all but I had to stay up all night so that I can get back on the same schedule. I am feeling much better but tired of doing nothing and I miss running terribly. Happy Running!

| We left on Saturday and went to Jim Corbett's tiger reserve for the weekend. It was an amazing experience. We drove for about 8 hrs to get there through little village after little village. It was such a humbling experience to see people who's way of life has not changed for the last 100 yrs. We stayed at a "resort/spa" near the reserve and while the accomadations were luxerious by their standards, they left a little to be desired by mine. But well worth the experience. We spent two days touring the reserve by Jeep looking for the Siberian Tiger, which, if seen is pure luck and looking at wild elephants, boars, deer and lots of other wildlife. We were lucky enough to see the tiger on our first day - it was amazing. We got stuck in traffic on our way back and it ended up taking 10 hrs to get back to the hotel in Delhi. It was great to read the race reports from this weekend - Congratulations on a great job by all!! Happy Running! | |

| So glad to be HOME! It was a wonderful two weeks but very, very busy. The work went very well and it is so nice when you see progress and results. Got up and ran with Paula this morning. It was perfect running weather. All of my little ailments over the past few months were gone and it was nice just to go. Unfortunately, my legs disagreed. They were like Jello. I am not sure if this was due to no running for two weeks or the fact that at JFK yesterday I had left something behind and ran back up an escalator going down. Maybe a little of both. Aerobically I felt good until the last mile and the last mile was hard. I am so excited to be feeling better and ready to get back to training and not recovery. Ave Pace: 9:02 Happy Running! | |

It was nice to be excited to get up and run today, it has been awhile since I felt that way. I was sore from yesterday so we choose an "easier" route. It is pretty flat with a slight incline the last 1.5 home. It is, however, one of the more mentally tough routes we run. I felt like I struggled the entire time getting into a groove and was really struggling to get a decent pace. I have been trying to work on my foot striking and centering of my body. Yesterday it came really easy but today was a struggle. I was surprised to see my pace for today at 9:04. I was expecting around 9:25 - 9:30, so of course I was happy. The next few weeks are the most difficult, it was the same after my first trip to India. I forget how hard it is to get back into the swing of things and build back up in both mileage and speed. | Today was a recovery day for me. My legs have been sore from not running for two weeks and then trying to push my first two days back. We took the three miles really easy - I talked nonstop the entire time. We then came back to my house and did some light weights and abs. This is something we need to add a couple of weeks to our schedule, so I am going to be looking for a good routine to incorporate. Ave Pace 9:55 Happy Running!

| Again another day that I was so excited to get up and run! I am trying really hard to enjoy this extra motivation because pretty soon I am sure it will fade. Our route today was 2.4 miles up hill .75 flat and then the remainder down hill. My original thoughts heading into todays run were just to work on mileage - ignore the pace ( I am not good at this). Mile1: Up hill and just tried to get going and into a rythm Mile2 - 2.4: Up hill felt really good and started to push a little and ended up pushing and feeling really good at the top Mile 2.4 - 3.1: Flat and recovery - I was tired. Mile 3.1 - 4.2: Down hill or so I had thought for the past two years. I realized today that there is a small incline in the middle of this section and I had never noticed it before. Worked on leg turn over and trying to stay within a rythm Mile 4.2 - 5.3: Down hill and flat at the end. Tried to stay in rythm and continue to feel good. I ended up feeling great at the end. I know I pushed but did not over do it. This was probably one of the best runs since being injured. And the best part - Ave Pace: 8:58 Happy Running!

| I was a little afraid for today. We had planned on 7 miles but I was unsure how my body would respond because my training has left a lot to be desired the last few weeks. The first 3 miles were rough. I had a difficult time getting going and had eaten nothing but junk, a lot of junk, yesterday and it is the first time I can remember that what I eat has had that big of an impact on my running. I felt absolutely horrible. I finally started feeling better about mile 4 and then at about 4.5 really was able to get going (at my very slow pace). I felt great until 6.25 and then I started to really struggle. At 6.5 "Eye of the Tiger" came on my ipod and got me going and unfortunately reliving middle school band, which only forced me to want to finish sooner. The last .25 I pushed and finished running that quarter at 8:25. Overall, todays run was really good, the route is flat so it is a good assesment as to where I am at training wise. It was nice to push and work hard but at the same time incredibly frustrating because I am building back up my base miles - the same thing I spent the entire winter doing. Two accomplishments this week: 1. First week ever running 6 days! 2. Highest mileage week since my injury! Ave Pace: 8:59 Happy Running! | |

| Today was incredibly rough. I woke up in a cranky mood and it affected my run. We had planned on meeting up with Jolynn but she did not make it. When we run with her we do 2 short routes, but since she did not make it we opted to just run a normal route. It absolutely kicked my butt! We ran out for 2.6 miles and when we were to turn and finish with a little more up hill to 3 miles, Paula suggested we could turn around and run back and we would have 5. I am ashamed to admit that I chose the easy way out. Even going back down was hard. Hopefully, I somehow benefited from todays run, because some good should come from it. | Ran with a better attitude today. It was still tough, though. I was expecting last week, being my first week back, to be the hard week but felt great the entire time. This week, however, is a different story. I came to the realization today that it will be this way for a while so I better get used to it. On a more positive note: An absolutely beautiful sunrise today! I also know that summer is just around the corner because instead of avoiding the sprinklers today, I actually sought them out, very refreshing! Ave Pace: 9:05 Happy Running! | |

| Nice easy 3 with Paula and some sprinkling rain. We then did some light weights and planks. Pretty easy day. During this building back up phase, I really wanted to incorporate six days a week. In doing this I have two really light days - 3 miles each- on Wed/Fri. I am wondering about the effectiveness of this. Is three miles enough with a consistency of 6 days a week? Or do those still easy days need to have more mileage? Something to ponder...... Ave Pace 9:30 Happy Running! | |

| Kind of a hodge-podge day: Paula called and canceled due to the monsoon this morning. At first I thought that I would go down to my treadmill, but as soon as I stood up my head hurt incredibly bad. I laid right back down and slept for 2 more hrs. I felt the missing of my run for most the morning. I dragged myself to work and sat and pouted and was lazy for about 2 hrs. Finally got into gear and got busy! Ended up with a really productive day. Go home from work and my kids were celebrating the last day of school and my husband was busy covering the baseball draft for work. We needed to go to Costco tonight for 6 mo. food stock up so I suggested to my husband that I run to Costco and meet him there. I left thinking that I would get there about the same time as him. He ended up leaving 10 min earlier then I thought so I only got in 2.52 miles, but my ave pace was 8:40. Frustrated that I my first run was cut short, I asked him to drop me off at Harmon's on the way home and I would return our Red Box and then run home. I pushed really hard the first mile and then slowed a bit on the last .5 and finished with a total of 1.6 with an ave pace of 8:34. My kids are wanting to run with me and then run the WestFest 5K at the end of the month so tonight I ran with my girls and their friends and ran 1 mile in 10:34. All over the place but in the end, got some miles, some errands done and time with the kids. Happy Running!

Ran my favorite route today - up through Westridge golf course. The first 3.5 miles are all up hill and then you get absolutely gorgeous view of the valley and the Great Salt Lake. Today we could see all the way up to Emigration Canyon. And then you get to go home, back down hill. I had forgotten how tough the up hill is - it kicked my butt. I knew that I had lost quite a bit while I was injured and in India but today made me realize just how much. It was one of the toughest runs I have had in a long time both physically and mentally, a few tears shed along the way, a lot of pep talk in my mind about never giving up and a little Tim McGraw's "How Bad do You Want It?" and we finally reached the top. The splits going up were 9:34, 9:26 9:47, 8:36 (the last is rolling hills). We stopped at the top to enjoy the view and apparently I forgot to stop my watch because the split on this mile is 13:24 - apparently we enjoyed for a while. On the way back down I saw a runner ahead of us and soon realized we had closed the gap and pretty soon I had decided to pass her before the light. Nice to finally be able to kick it into gear and a little practice for next week. The last 2.2 miles are a little more gentle down hill then how we go up but Paula had a pretty good pace going so I decided to just see how long I could hang with her. I soon realized that we were at a sub 8 min mile and decided to see if I could finish the mile that way. Picked it up and pushed the last half of the mile to keep it sub 8 and finished with a 7:49 mile. The rest of the run was pretty uneventful and finished with 8:18 and 7:57 for the last .21. As tough as the first half was, finishing this run was both important to me physically and mentally. I need to run it more often. I am extremely happy with my splits on the uphill portion because I would have expected all of them to be closer to 10:00 if not over. Ave Pace: 8:57 ( even with my messed up mile at 5) Happy Running!

Had a good run with Walter this morning. We ran out through part of Lake Park and the new WestFest 5K route. He pushed me harder that I normally would have myself, but I was suprised that our ave pace was only 8:41. I felt like I was working harder and pushing more than that - must have been all my talking and the fact that I am still incredibly out of shape. Overall, despite my slow pace, it was a good run and pushing myself should happen more often. PM: Swam with the kids for 45 min. Played a mean game of monkey in the middle and I had the deep end of the pool. Did some kicking lap so that I could keep my head above water and my eyes on all the little swimmers. Happy Running!

The crosswind was just about as brutal at points. My legs were tired and I was dehydrated so not one of my better runs. I am still struggling to get enough fluids later in the day, especially if I swim or run in the evening. Overall, I am feeling stronger than I was last week so it is coming back slowly. | Missed running this morning to go to the temple with my husband. We left early and all I could think about on the way there was what a perfect morning to run. I had planned on running tonight with Paula, but once I got home from work realized that my son had a ballgame tonight right in the middle of my running time. (POOR PLANNING!) I need to be better at planning. We went out to swim for a while and my sweet husband, who understood my frustration with missing my run, let me swim some laps while he watched the kids and then talked to me for 25 min while I treaded water and caught kids off the diving board. Not sure if this really even counts for anything but I guess some exercise is better than none. Happy Running & Swimming!

| Ran an easy 5 with Paula this morning. My legs were tight and my knee was a little twingy so I was pretty cautious. Stopped and stretched a few times along the way and then came home and stretched good again and then did some scrapping. My goal for tomorrow is to run a strong race and feel good. This is probably not a PR course, and due to my less than stellar training the past few months I would expect to be around 25 -26 min. Definitely not my best or what I would like but I think that is pretty realistic at this point. I am excited to catch up with FRB runners and see friends more than anything. Ran Heart of Holladay 5K. It is tough route with even tougher competition. I was really nervous going into the race and not sure what to expect. Chatted a bit with Kim and Tom and their family and of course rode over with Paula and her family. We warmed up for half a mile - not much of a warm up but a little antsy and unable to do more that worry about the race and the hill at 2.5. We started and as soon and at about .15 into the race I was behind Paula, Kim and Brent... I was struggled to get in rhythm. Got going finally about the one mile mark and they called my split at 7:58 - at this point I thought I was really in trouble and would be around 26:00. I started going through all the reasons I am struggling - injured for two months with not consistent if any training; in India for two weeks with out being able to run; lack of sleep this week; poor diet. Some under my control, some not. It is a difficult thing to come to terms that poor performance is completely related to items completely in my control. We came around to the up hill section at 2.5 and I knowing that I can usually run hills pretty tough I dug in. By the time I reached the top my legs were feeling it the last section to the finish went by much faster than I thought and by the time I reached the finish and saw my time I was actually pretty happy with how things went. It would have been a pre-blog PR so even though my training has suffered, I would have never run a route like this even close to this time pre-blog. So a big THANK YOU to everyone for all your support and help because you are big part of todays run. Chatted afterwards with Kim, Tom, Brent, Sylvia, Sasha & Sara and their cute family, Steve A and hung out for the awards. My teenage neighbor had come with us and he finished around 18:00. He just started running a year ago and is doing great. A gigantic congratulations to Kim for winning the SGM spot! She is the most deserving and I only wish I had video to post so everyone could share in her excitement - Watching her win was probably the best part of the day. Happy Running!

| Ran with Paula this morning. I had every intention of taking it easy today but when she suggested a tougher route I let her push me to do better. The first two miles were flat and then mile three is all up hill. The hill actually felt really good I pushed right along. Mile 4 is all flat and it zipped right along and then we had a long wait at a light at the start of mile 5. I had the hardest time getting back going and struggled through mile 5. Mile 6 is down hill and the pace picked up pretty good to the end. Not to bad, but my legs really felt it. My quads were pretty tired from Saturday so I scrapped yesterday and will add additional stretching sessions this week. Ave Pace 8:50 Happy Running! | |

| Ran with Paula and went and ran the new Westfest route. The new route is flat and will be very hot on race day because there is no shade. My legs were really dragging and tired again and I am feeling the effects of not enough sleep the past few weeks. I have increase my water intake substantially but am still feeling dehydrated in the morning. Still need to drink more. Ave Pace: 9:01 Happy Running! | |

| Was supposed to run an easy three with Paula this morning but I was a mess. My legs were really tight to begin so I stretched them as we started. My left calf cramped for 2.5 miles and I kept stopping to stretch it out and then my stomach started to have issues and it was a good thing I was close to home. Enough of my whining! Yesterday I had my husband work on my legs after my run. After some pain and some nausea they felt much better. Then I spent 3.5 hrs in a car traveling to Cedar to meet with a client, another 3.5 hrs sitting in a room the size of a walk in closet, 3.5 hrs driving back to Salt Lake and then another 45 min chasing kids all over the place. By the end I my thighs were on fire, so some more massage and scrapping before I went to bed. Got up today they were not on fire but made of lead. OH the dead legs!! They were so heavy and not wanting to move for 6 miles! UGH! The run itself wasn't to bad but my legs were so tired. Good news was that I wasn't feeling dehydrated and my stomach cooperated. Now for the big news: After 14 yrs of working at the Deseret News my husband is changing careers. He has been very happy there but with the layoffs that are coming in July, he started looking early. He has accepted a position working for the Utah Blaze as the Director of Communications. This is very exciting for our family but change is always scary. It will be nice to have him home in the evenings and have a more structured family life. We are not quite sure at this point how it will affect my job (he has always been home during the day to take care of the kids) but over the next couple of months we will see what happens. Ran the big block twice today. We started at 7:00 to get some practice in the heat- it is too hot - I feel for all you that run in it every day! First time went really well. I felt strong up the hill and then kicked it in on the flat and down hill stretch. Stopped for water and then headed again. I could tell right off that it was going to be much harder. Went to head up the hill and about half way up I started with the double vision thing again. I stopped for a minute and it went away. With about 1.5 miles to go I got a really weird cramp in my back, up in my ribs. It stayed until the I was almost done. I cannot believe how much harder this was then a few months ago, but I have to keep reminding my self that the more I do the easier it will become. Now I get to go to my son's baseball game and then two softball games - pretty much my day will be spent at the ball park. Ave Pace 9:06 Happy Running! | |

| Good hard run today. I started out not wanting to get out, my body was tired both physically and mentally, but I knew that I would not be able to run later in the day. We ran the Harmon's block the original way and the first 1.5 miles were flat, flat, flat and I just struggled to get going. The next mile is a very gradual up hill and I finally got in my groove and feeling good. The next 2 are a more significant up hill and really was feeling good and started enjoying myself. The last 1.5 is down hill and at this point we started picking up the pace and ended up sprinting the last couple of tenths to the end. Nice practice for Saturday but today was slightly down hill and Saturday will be flat. Ave Pace 8:56 Happy Running! | |

| Ran three with Laurie and Paula. We had a great time chatting and visiting as we went. I was making some desserts for a work party today and ran out of whipping cream so thought that I would stop at Harmon's on the way, however they have changed their hours and it was closed and the Holiday Oil and 7-11 do not sell whipping cream either. Kind of a crazy run when you stop at every grocery store and gas station along the way. Happy Running! | |

| Woke up ready to race today. I ran 1.62 miles over to the start as a warm up and had a difficult time trying to stay slow. Got there and they could not find my registration, after much searching they had misspelled my last name and put me in the "A's". I had them fix it in the computer so that the official record would be accurate. We lined up and I found a place I liked and we were off. I started out much faster that I usually do but felt really good. Kept pushing and it felt like it was flying by. At the 2 mile mark it seemed to slow down a little but still felt good the entire time. The last mile I chicked a few guys and past one of the girls I had been following the entire time. When I could finally see the clock I wished I had pushed just a little bit harder to be under 24 min but a PR is a PR and I will take it. This leaves a little bit of work for Murray next week. Visited with Kim's brother Jeremy for a little bit both before and after the race and talked to lots of neighbors and friends. Ran the other 1.62 home at 9:45 am while the parade was lining up. Way to many people watching. A little old lady, who was dressed is sweats and a hat, stopped on her way to the parade to let me know it was to hot to run. Told her I was almost home, but in my mind I was thinking - "You have sweats on!" Ave Race Pace: 7:45 Happy Running! | |

She lives just a couple of blocks from me and I have seen her out running but we didn't have a chance to really introduce ourselves until Saturday at the 5K. It was nice to have someone to run with while Paula is on vacation. Dropped her off at 4 miles and then finished on my own. I have got to figure out how to get a decent nights sleep on Sunday nights. I could not go to sleep last night and then tossed and turned all night long - UGH! Today also marks my first official work from home day - we will see how it goes. Ave Pace 8:53 Happy Running!

Ran with Paula today out through Lake Park. Today was probably one of the best runs I have had in months. I felt great the entire time. It was also the hottest morning we have had so far. I am not sure if I had any fast miles (under 8:20) but I pushed hard the entire time and felt that it was close to a tempo run. Day one of working from home was okay....Hoping day two is better. | Woke up, not ready to race. I had one of those pre-race dreams last night......... The race was taking place indoors during the winter and I had left my shoes at home. I had my husband bring me my shoes and instead of running socks he brought Knee Highs. I tried to do the best I could and they kept moving the starting line and pretty soon I was racing in my winter coat with my purse and Paula wouldn't hold my stuff.........anyways ended up finishing in 40 min......... Bad dream. Reality: I remembered my shoes and so it was already going to be better than my dream. We lined up and I was really unsure of how I was feeling and what kind of performance I would have. We started and my legs were like lead - The negative thoughts started coming and I remembered Josse's words "I can, I can, I can..." They worked. The first mile is up hill and then you turn around and come back down for mile 2. Mile 3 starts flat but goes up hill and then flat and into the park. At about 2.75 my eyes started with the double vision thing again (I learned at the opthomologist's that I have 20/15 vision with something similar to Lazy Eye in my left eye that when it gets tired, I get double vision). I just tried to not fall down and make it to the finish line. I was so happy to finish with 23:25 on a hard course. Saw Sasha for a few minutes after the race and congratulated my neighbor Dallen who finished 9th overall. Had to leave fairly soon afterwards because my son has ballgames today. Happy Running!

| My day did not turn out as planned. I knew I would not be able to run this morning because I took my girls to Stadium of Fire last night and got home after midnight. Slept in until 8:30 am - it was glorious! Spent the morning cleaning my house and then the car dealer called to tell us they had found the van we have been looking for. Went and traded in my truck for a van. I loved the truck, but with gas prices and the amount of chasing I do it was becoming less and less practical. So the majority of my day was spent dealing with that. I finally got home and tried to call Paula to see if she was up for running and they were not home, so I headed out on my own at 9:45. I arranged to meet my husband at Walmart to pick up new crockpot because mine died this week. It was very strange running in the dark alone. Ran through a few sprinklers which always make me happy and saw the fireworks at Rocky Mtn Raceway. Glad I got some miles in, even though they were fewer than I planned. | I stayed up way to late last night - no Sunday nap to keep me awake, just lots to do. I woke up this morning really tired and told myself today could be an easy day. Met Paula and me knee was a little tight so I confirmed my easy day. We headed out and by 1.5 miles into the run I was feeling great. My legs picked up speed and it was fast from there on out. They had fire in them today - it doesn't happen very often. I can definitely tell that racing over the last couple of weeks has helped with my speed. Ave Pace 8:37 Happy Running! | |

Nice easy run with Paula this morning. My right achilles and knee were sore so a couple of stops to stretch along the way were necessary. Noon: 40 mins of pool running. I am not sure how it equates to miles so I am not counting it. My kids got a big kick out of me only wanting to pool run - not do anything else. Pretty soon we were having races, but unfortunately I lost everyone because I ran and they would end up swimming. Ave Pace 9:08 Happy Running!

| Ran "favorite run" today and added on to get 10 miles. I normally get so excited when the longer runs start getting longer but I have been dreading this all week. I was really worried how my body would hold up and how I would feel. Surprisingly I felt great the entire time! The first 3.5 miles are all up hill and then rolling for the next 1.5. The remainder is downhill will a little bit of flat at 1/2 mile of flat at 7.5 and then off and on the remainder of the way home. We did not get a good view of the valley today when we got to the top because of all the haze, but a nice sunrise. Ave Pace 8:53 Happy Runnin! | |

| Nice easy recovery run today. I was unsure what to expect after yesterday, but I felt great except my dinner that I ate at 9:00 pm last night. I tried really hard to keep the pace easy and it was harder than I thought it would be. We leave for New York tonight and we are getting excited. My husband is going to baseball nirvana for 5 days - Mets, Red Sox and the All - Star game at Yankee Stadium on Tuesday. I am tagging along for a couple of games and relaxing at the hotel. Not sure how comfortable I am running alone in NYC, so I am preparing for the treadmill and we will see what happens. Ave Pace 9:23 Happy Running! | |

| Ran in NY today. I ran from our hotel up to Central Park and then ran the big loop. It ended up being a little farther than I had expected. I was excited to get out running this afternoon and started out to fast and the the heat and humidity got to me about mile 4. I stopped, stretched and walked for a couple of minutes and then returned to running. It was much more hilly than I had expected but I passed more peopled than I was passed by. I finished what I thought would be my run at 6.3 but then and started to walk back to the hotel and then realized how long it would take and so I ended up running back. I probably had a total of .5 miles of the walking and did not include those in my running miles. We arrived in NYC on Saturday morning and check into our hotel and then went to Ground Zero and then to the Mets game. Yesterday, we rode the bus up to Boston and went to see the Red Sox play at Fenway. That was amazing! Tonight my husband is at the home run derby and I am sitting at the hotel working. Not sure what tomorrow will bring but sometimes those are the best vacations. Ave Pace 8:49 Happy Running!

Ran back up to Central Park today. I took it much easier starting out and just really tried to enjoy today. The first mile up to the park is insane - stopping at every block (less than 1/10th a mile) and weaving through all the people (good race practice). I decided to run outside the park today on the east side up to the Guggenheim Museum. I have really wanted to see it from the outside because of the history of Frank Lloyd Wright. It was much smaller that what I expected and the are doing renovations to the exterior so it was difficult to appreciate it with scaffolding everywhere. I then turned into the park and followed the road back south. The park was completely insane! I was two hrs later than yesterday and there were people everywhere!! There must have been a concert tonight becuase there were tons of people going to the concert area. And then there were runners galore. It felt like a race in all directions!! I have never been someplace with so many runners and it was not a race. There were literally hundreds. Some in groups and some solo but hundreds. I enjoyed watching all the people but soon reached the end and then head back to the hotel and a Jamba Juice for a treat. I did not have my link to my ipod so no ave pace today - kind of nice just to enjoy and run for the love of running. We went to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island today. What an amazing experience. The statue is amazing up close. We did not get the chance to go inside the base but the awe and presence was amazing. We then went to Ellis Island and toured the buildings. It was very humbling to see what people went through to live in this great country of ours and how badly they wanted a better life for their families. It makes you so grateful to live in a nation that believes in freedom. They have a "family history" center there and the LDS church is a sponsor. We were able to search my husbands great grandmother who came to the US in 1916 and see her imigration papers and ship's manifest and find out a little bit more about her when she arrived in the US. It was an incredible experience. Happy Running! |

| Oh, so good to be home! While I loved NYC, I am so grateful to be where there is fresh air, fewer people, less profanity and less smoking. We had a great time but as soon as you are away from your kids you miss them terribly. I got up to run today and realized that I left a lot my running clothes at the hotel. I am a compulsive over packer and packed extra "just incase" I thought that my husband checked all the drawers but he just checked his. The Marriott people are wonderful and are shipping them home today. I do not want to know how much it is costing me, but I will be happy when they arrive. I did manage to run today anyways with Paula. It was great to catch up with her and have a running partner again. I brought "legs of lead" back with me so the pace was slow, even though they felt like they were working hard. Ave Pace 9:00 Happy Running!

| I just realized I put yesterday's run on Wednesday - OOPS! Not sure how to fix it :( Paula has gone camping so I ran with our neighbor Renee today. She is the mom of "super fast Dallen" She was great to come along and pace me on a slow recovery run. I am not good at doing this on my own. We had a great time chatting and visiting. She is doing a great job running and will continue to improve with more time. Finished the 3 with her and was feeling like adding on a little more and so went another mile on my own. I did okay keeping it slow for about the first half and then continued to battle the legs desire to go faster. Now I am mentally gearing up for a long solo run tomorrow. Happy Running! | |

| I am finally getting around to blogging my run this morning - busy day with softball, swimming, baseball, cello concert.......to much. I got up early and headed out. The weather was perfect! The first couple of miles were rough as I adjusted to wearing my fuel belt. I have only run with it one other time and it took a few minutes to find the most comfortable spot. The first half the run was so slow. No matter how hard I tried I could not get under 9 min miles. I had thought that the route would be flat, flat, flat, but it ended up pretty rolling from 4.5 - 7. Something happened about mile 6 and I finally kicked it into gear. I was able to pick up the pace the remainder of the run and feel really good. It was good to see that I ran the second half faster than the first and that I still felt good at the end. I ended up with 3 stops - mile 4 for a bathroom break (thank you Carl's Jr.), mile 8 for water and GU and then mile 10 for water. I only had 3 stop light stops and for me and the area I run in, that is pretty dang good. Ave Pace 8:54 Happy Running! | |

| Today was rough! I had planned on running some hills and getting in a good quality work out but as soon as I hit the road I knew my body was not up for that. My legs were tired and my knees a little sore from Saturday's run, so I changed my plans to an easier run. Just because it was an easier route does not mean it was easier :( I struggled feeling good and was quite dehydrated the entire way. (fasting the day before will do that to you.) The last 1.5 I needed a bathroom badly, I almost stopped at the 7-11 a quarter mile from my house. I made it home, but they were some ugly miles today. I leave for Seattle this morning and hopefully tomorrow will be a better run! Ave Pace 9:01 Happy Running! | |

| I am in Seattle today. Normally we stay out in Bellevue and I have a few routes that I really like, but this trip we are staying at the airport. I had pretty much resigned myself to the fact I would be on the treadmill, but we got a map from the hotel that showed a trail quite close. So I ventured out. The first mile was down hill - steep down hill and then slight down hill the other 2 on the way out. It was a beautiful trail with lots of green and a creek that opened up on to the puget sound. The way out was pretty fast but the way back - up hill was slow........ I ended up walking up 1/2 of the really big hill because my ankle was not liking the incline. The eating festivities have already started, I ate two really big meals yesterday and one quite late and I am sure today will be the same - Bad Jody, Bad Jody.... Woke up and was ready to go. I only got 5 hrs of sleep last night so I was lowering my expectations even more. I had told myself just go and enjoy and have a good run. I was really okay with that. Paula and I drove up with Laurie, Super Fast Dallin and Mel. We warmed up for about .5 miles and then just waited for the start. I do not have splits but I will give the mile breakdown: Mile 1: My running in New York paid off - I did a good job weaving in and out of people and over the grass island . This was pretty fast. Mile 2: Feeling really good as we turn up 13th East Mile 3: The rolling hills on 13th were not bad at all and then we turned on to South Temple. It leveled out quite a bit and just put it in cruise control. Mile 4: Saw Christina at the first of mile 4 and chatted with her for a minute and then went on my way. I thought we went to State street so I was happy to turn at 200 E. Mile 5: At about 4.5 I was starting to feel really tired and dehydrated. I stopped at the last water stop and was passed by Christina. Mile 6: I thought we turned at 700 S but it was not until 900 S so I just kept hanging on. I hate when you head up 900 S and you can see the finish but it doesn't seem to get any closer. I started counting down the blocks and could not kick it in any more. I am so happy to have a new PR. I am not sure what my chip time will be, I think around 47:50, but either way it is still great. I learned that I need more longer runs during the week and cannot just rely on my "long Saturday run". Chatted afterwards with Christina and some of her running friends, Hildsivini, Smeagal, Cleo and I am sorry if I forgot anybody. Bonnie and her husband Dean came up afterwards and we chatted a little bit as well. This is my favorite part of racing - the visiting with all the blog friends and making new friends. My 4 year old daughter just brought me a map she made to help me run faster - aren't kids the best! Happy Running! I am completely frustrated! The results were posted on Stride Running and they did not post chip timing. I walk for a good 20 -30 seconds to get to the start and was okay with that because I thought that it was being chip timed and that I would get a true time with the official results. However that it not the case, no chip time, just the clock time. I normally do not get frustrated by little things like this but I would have lined up closer to the front and pushed my way to the start had I known the chip I was wearing was meaningless! UGH!!

Ran with Kim and Paula today. We met early and ran from Kim's brother's house to the Jordan River Parkway. This was the first time that I had run on it and it was great. I will be going back for sure. We had a mini blog party as we saw Brent and he ran with us for a few minutes and then Leslie and Lisa. It was nice to chat with everyone for a few minutes along the way. We were slower on the first 8 then we were coming back. Coming back we had some miles in the 8 range. Our mileage is based on the reading of my ipod + and I had stopped and started and missed a few times. I think our actual mileage was closer to 16 and our pace quicker than the 9:45 listed. I would think more around 9:30 or so, but I am going to stick with what was in black and white for training purposes. Kim and Paula both did a great job! It was so nice of Kim to spend the night in SLC so that we could run together, she is doing such an awesome job with her training. This was Paula's longest run ever and she did great, there are many more to come for her. Overall, I felt great today. A little stiff and sore at the beginning but worked through it quickly. I felt like if I had another GU and stayed on the parkway where there is shade I could have gone 18 maybe even 20. You gotta love days like today!

| Felt really good after yesterdays long run. My calves are really tight but the rest feels good. Yesterday was a big confidence booster because I felt so good at the end. I am going to try to practice some restraint however and use this week as a recovery week and give my body a little bit of a rest. I am ready to up my daily mileage and I might still increase a little but will very cautious and after three weeks in a row of increasing my long runs, I will not increase my long run mileage this week. | Last nights wind storm made me a little worried about running this morning but it had died down quite a bit by the time we ran. Ran a nice flat, easy route this morning, however the effort felt pretty hard the last mile because we were in to the wind. My legs felt better that I expected but pretty trashed from last week. | Today started out absolutely horrible. We started out with 1.5 miles up hill and into the wind. My legs felt trashed still and my heart was racing the entire time and I could not get into a rhythm. When we turned to go slightly downhill with the cross wind I just wanted it over with, so I pick up the pace. As I got going I decided to turn it into a 3 mile temp run to help speed it up. Mile 1 8:15 - 8:20 approx. Felt really good Mile 2 approx 8:00 started actually enjoying today's run Mile 3 approx 7:35 Felt great but I have no idea how I sustained this during a 5K or 10K Ran home at a pretty easy pace. It was nice to see the splits drop as I progressed but I know I should have pushed harder during mile 1. Ave Pace 8:48 (the first1.5 was insanely slow) Happy Running! | |

| I woke up with a horrible headache this morning but convinced myself that today was an easy recovery day and I would be okay. I headed out with Paula but by 2 miles I was not feeling well at all. I was having to stop and walk every few minutes and then ended up walking the last 1/2 mile home to avoid throwing up. Hopefully the day improves. Happy Running! | |

I woke up with a big knot in my stomach this morning and I was not sure what effect it would have on my run today. I ended up being pretty much okay until the very end and the bathroom started calling. I pushed hard on the hills today especially the last few tenths of each hill and also tried to stop as few times as possible. I ended up stopping for two very short stops to cross the street and one while we changed our route - maybe 45 sec. Overall a pretty good run but my knee is bothering me more and more. Hopefully my new shoes will come soon. Ave Pace 8:57 (felt much faster, time to recalibrate my ipod+) Happy Running! PM: 20 min swimming laps in the pool. It is getting so much easier as my kids swimming is improving but unfortunately they still fight so our swimming ended early, but 20 min is better than nothing.

| Another "easy" 3 with Paula. I had originally planned on a little longer, but we got late start because I had a late night training session with our India office, however I had an 8 am phone call I needed to be ready for so we did not have a lot of time. Three miles it was, hot, dust blowing in our eyes and mouths and just as hard as a normal run..........I do not like it when this happens to our easy days. Ave Pace 9:33 Happy Running! |

| Paula wasn't feeling well this morning, so I ran on my own. I headed up to my favorite area through Westridge golf course. I ended up changing the route a bit and the first 6 miles were up hill. Good training. at about 5.25 I thought I might throw up put I made it through to come home. My knee was twingy from the beginning but nothing serious until 7.5 miles. I called my husband to come get me but as I kept trying to run it worked it self out so I called back and said never mind. I ended up making it home but the knee was not happy. I had my husband work my quad pretty good and found a big knot that he worked on, so hopefully it will be business as normal on Monday. Now the real test begins - Stake Primary Activity, 300 kids, 100 degree weather, I hope I survive to take a nap later. Ave Pace 9:10 Happy Running! | |

| I was a little unsure how my knee would feel today. I scraped last night and it was feeling better but was not quite sure how it would respond to running. It ended up being a little twingy but felt better as the run progressed. We stayed on flat ground today and once we got going it ended up being a pretty good run. I had two "fast" miles and was feeling really good. With about .25 left to go of the second mile I had an encounter with a big dog. I had forgotten my pepper spray and so I stood there and walked slowly until his owner came and got him. Finished up the mile and then took it easy home. I have got to stop napping on Sundays. I look forward to it all week long but then I cannot sleep on Sunday nights. It took me forever last night to fall asleep and then I still wake up all night long. Ave Pace 8:48 Happy Running! | |

Absolutely horrible!! I woke up not feeling 100% and should have taken that for a sign and gone back to bed. My legs were okay, I think it is more my shoes at this point than anything, but my new ones still have not arrived. I could not get my rhythm at all. It was such a struggle to move and try to run. We ended up calling it an easy day because no matter how hard I tried it would not work. More to try tomorrow PM - Headed back out to redeem myself and "climb back on the horse" as they say. So much better! I am always amazed at how much faster I am at nights. I refilled my "mom cup" and my "running cup." Two lessons learned: I need to warm up more/wake up earlier, 10 min before I leave is not enough. #2 I miss my Mizuno shoes (I ran in an old pair) - Came home and ordered more. I had lofty expectations for today. I had felt great on my last long run and was hoping for the same today, but as soon as we started I knew it would be different. I struggled getting going and finding my rhythm. We had to go early and because my daughter was in a softball tournament in Kaysville, I had to be a little creative to get it in. We ended up running down to Main street and then up Main, over to Pioneer Park and then up to Beck street into Bountiful and at that point I would meet my husband and then go to the games. Paula stuck with me until we got downtown and then her husband came and got her. After about 6 miles I alternated feeling great with feeling crappy. I made it to 15.5 miles and my husband came to pick me up. We headed to the ballfields and I finished up to 18 for the day running around the park while I watched the game. Most of the run was flat or up hill, there were only a couple of down hill sections - one at mile 5 and then two short sections on Beck street. So while I felt crappy off and on, I know that I ran a tough route and my pace was much better than two weeks ago. At this point I am not quite sure what I am going to do regarding Top of Utah. I was really hoping to feel great and know that I would be okay and today has created more doubt in my mind. On the positive - I just went back and looked at my training and this is my highest mileage week ever - YEAH!!! Ave Pace 9:10 Happy Running!

I had to run extra early today because I have to go to the office and I am without a babysitter. Today was a big day, to see how my body handled Saturday's run. I felt really good. I took it fairly easy and did not push the pace more than MP and the effort felt easy. I ended up with 4 MP miles and then 2.5 others. One of my goals for this week was to get enough sleep each day - Day 1 was not a success. I stayed up too late watching the Olympics and then had too many kids in with us after 3 am. Will try again tonight. Ave Pace 8:53 PM: 40 min of pool running while the kids swam. I am never quite sure how this translates into real mileage so I am not counting it, but a good work out. I went and ran with the SJ group again. They are great to run with and pushing me along! We did 3 5K's today. The splits were 25:20, 23:56, 24:06. I am somewhat disappointed that the last split was slower than the second, however if I had gone any faster towards the end I would have had an accident. Thanks guys! | I ran my first 20 miler today with Cheris and Michelle. I was very nervous because last week did not go well and I knew that they would keep the pace going. We started at 5am and ran through South Jordan, Riverton, Bluffdale and Herriman. It ended up being a great run! I am a little sore but not bad. My knee did really well. I had a few weird pains that I am not sure what to do with, but it was a great run. I came home and did an ice bath for 12 min and stretched. I signed up for TOU yesterday so it is official. I had planned to day to do 3x1 mile hill repeats. We have a hill near by that the elevation is similar to that in the hill at mile 18 at TOU. It measures 1 mile long and has an elevation gain of 332 ft. I ran the 1.3 warm up and then began the repeats. The first one wasn't to bad, there wasn't a lot of traffic and it was still dark. During the second one the traffic picked up significantly and it created a pretty good head wind. At this point my legs were feeling really tired so I decided to forgo the third repeat and just finish with easy miles, so that I would not completely trash my legs for Hobblecreek. On my recovery back down the hill, I knew that if I did not do the third repeat, I would be pretty angry at myself the rest of the day and the guilt would set in. So I decided to do the third repeat but not focus on the time as much as the completion. The third was tough, because the wind (from the traffic) had picked up but I focused on just making it to the top. My splits were: 8:53 8:50 8:47 - YEAH! I am so glad that I stuck with it and finished - lesson learned! Ave Pace 8:55 Happy Running!

We did hill repeats, which where much tougher than yesterday it was a 1/2 mile out - up, down and then back up - and then turn around and come back. We did this 4 times and then did 3x1 minute sprints. There were some good warm up and cool down miles today as well. | 10 1/2 hrs of sleep! I think it might be a record! My legs are still pretty tired so I am taking today of as a rest day. This helped quite a bit with last week and if I wasn't racing tomorrow, I would push myself out the door. But I am and I want less tired legs. I do not think that they will be 100% fresh legs because I had too many tough workouts early in the week but they will be better that they are today. GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE RACING TOMORROW!

It is 11:30 pm and this is the first chance I have had today to sit at the computer. After the race we had our ward day camp and then a busy night of bathing the dirtiest kids ever, grocery shopping and of course a hair appointment. (VANITY!) Now on to the report: Marci and I got up early at 4:15 to get ready, down to the park, pick up the packet and then on the bus. We rode up with Michelle L and her husband and it was great to finally meet her. Once our bus made it to the top, we hopped off and ran a short warm up to the start. I met up with Kim and donned our purple hair for the day. Mile 1: I started with Michelle N and Julie. The started a little fast for me but I never felt like I could get my rhythm, so I back off a little at the one mile mark. Mile 2: uneventful Mile 3: My legs are already starting to feel tired - too many tough workouts and not enough taper. Mile 4: I can see Dean ahead and I try to catch him - it takes me about half a mile and I finally do and we ran together for about .25 and then I slowed back down a little. He and I leap frogged each other until mile 10 and then he was ahead the rest of the way. Mile 5: Uneventful Mile 6: More of the same Mile 7: Still feeling okay, legs are the same Mile 8: This is where you have the uphill out of the canyon to start the trail. As I pushed up the hill I could feel my heart race and I had a difficult time regaining control - A mental meltdown is on the verge of starting Mile 9: I ran into Brent and he calmed me down and we ran together for a few minutes. I need the chatting and calming influence he provides. THANK YOU! Mile 10: I saw Darci and Sarah (two girls I grew up with) at the water stop waiting for Darci's husband. It was great to have someone cheer for me. Mile11: I am telling myself, two miles to go - you can do this, but I am slowing and sooo tired. I walked through the water stop extra long. Mile 12: I told myself 1 mil to go you can do this, but the first half was soo long. Once I got to the half way point, I was okay, but I have never come so close to "hitting the wall" as I did there. Mile 13: One tenth to go, we turn on the grass and I almost tripped so I hesitated even trying to push with what little energy I could muster and Kelli came up from behind and finished with me. It was great to chat with everyone afterwards and there were so many who had great races - CONGRATULATIONS! I am really glad I have had some time to reflect before typing this race report. I am very happy with my time, it is a PR and I know that I gave it everything I had today. That said, it was a day filled with lessons: 1. Pace: I need to begin wearing a watch when I race and stick to my pace. I have always run by feel but as I improve and my goals change from a "good time" and "a new pr" to time specific I need to be better at pacing myself. My start was rough today and I do not think that this helped. 2. Taper: I really did not taper for this race and I could tell right away in my legs. It ended up becoming a good training run for dealing with fatigue. If I want to race strong, I need a better taper. 3. Fuel: I have eaten horribly all week and really did not get an good solid food yesterday. I was a hectic, stressful day and my eating suffered and carried over to my performance today. Lessons Learned! Ave Pace 7:40 Happy Running!

| Six recovery miles on my own today. Paula wasn't feeling well, my ipod was dead and could not find my watch so I was really on my own. I felt like I had a pretty good pace for a recovery run. I had planned on 7 miles, but wasted too much time looking for my watch. I had then decided I would have time for 6.5 and ended up running into a long lost friend and then was down to just enough time for 6 so that I could get home to see my son off to his first day of school. I ended up with time to spare, but would have been so angry at myself if I had missed him. Happy Running!

We did 5 miles and I felt like the effort was close to marathon pace (8:20) than what it was. We ended up back at the track and watched everyone finish up - they were movin' today! When I got home and my kids ready, I walked them up to the school and then ran .75 home pushing my 4 yr old in a non-running stroller. That was probably the toughest part of the day. I have been in Dallas for two days and got home tonight. I had planned on running while I was there, but I have not been that tired in a very long time, last weekend had caught up with me. I ended up missing my Wednesday morning run and had planned on running that night, but I was invited to a work dinner, so I missed again. I still had planned on going this morning but again was completely exhausted and had a headache. I finally got out tonight with Paula for 5 miles. I met up with Cheris, Peggy, Michelle, Angela, Dean, Chris and Whitney for our 20 mile run. This one felt tougher than the one two weeks ago. We did pretty much the same route with a little variation. Angela was great to listen to and dispense her wisdom on eating healthy and healthy lifestyles in general. My body held up better this week and that is always a good thing. We ended up with a few walking breaks and I gave in to one at the end with Peggy and Angela that I am a little disappointed in myself for when they were still going. I never stopped my watch so my pace includes a bathroom break, walking for gu's and a couple other 30 sec walks, I would think if we took the breaks out it would be more near 8:45 but we ended with 9:15. I felt horrible, my heart was racing and I stop for a second and then proceeded on at a slower pace. I need to learn to pace myself better for these. I had to dart out early to get kids off to school and then I have to go into the office today, so extra get ready time was needed. No working today in comfy clothes. Ran with Paula and Renee today. Nice easy recovery run. The first 4.5 miles were pretty slow but really enjoyable! Renee had to be done and then Paula and I added on 2 more at a pretty good pace. Paula was done and I had a few minutes to run another 1.5 to get to 8 for the day. Still colder than I want and I think I need to break out the gloves. My knee was tender at the first but fine as the run progressed. One more mile after walking the kids to school. As I ran home I could tell how tired my legs were and pushing a 4 yr old in a stroller only makes them more tired. Glad I did it though. Asics 33.1 Happy Running!

I couldn't go out and meet with the BBK this morning because my husband is out of town and I needed to get kids out the door and off to school. I decided that I would do the same work out - 3 5K's on with Paula. I warmed up on my way to her house and then we began. I new the first would be the slowest because I was not 100% warmed up. It still felt like we were going at a pretty good speed and the rec ctr trail was so dark that we could not see where it was going. We finished in 25:36. The second was going to be run on the WestFest 5K route. Paula wasn't feeling well so I told her I would run her home instead of making the final turn and then do one last one on my own. We got started and I was feeling really good, the first mile was in 7:50. We kept going and I was going to try to match my WestFest time. With about .4 miles to go I twisted my left ankle and stopped to make sure I was okay. It hurt when it happened but I was able to finish in 24:12 - 10 seconds slower that my race time. I am blaming the ankle but overall I am very happy with this split. At this point I waited for Paula to finish and started to worry about being able to finish the third in time to get home and also about how my ankle was going to feel later on. I decided to forgo the third and cooled down for 1.5 miles. If my ankle feels good all day, I will do the third tonight. Not quite the same, but I hate not finishing. I ended up getting getting done at 6:10 and was mad that I did not do the third but still waiting to see what the ankle does. Ankle felt okay so I headed back out tonight to get in my third 5k. Not quite as effective as three in a row but better than nothing. My goal was to beat my first split this morning. I finished in 24:45 and then cooled down for a mile. My calves are incredibly tight and were cramping a little from mile 2 on. Pink Mizuno 86:25 / Asics 37.2

My plan was to warm up for the first three miles and then try to be at marathon pace for the rest. We were up hill until mile 5 and then down until mile 8. At this point we were by the Daybreak temple and heading up the hill. We were downhill/flat until mile12 and at that point it was a climb back to Bingham High. I felt really good the entire time which was encouraging. Cheris and I ran together through mile 8 and then she took off and I finished on my own. I finished at 1:50 which is 17 seconds slower than where I should be at the halfway point in SGM, so this made me happy. My ave pace for the 10 miles after the warm up was 7:58 - 14 seconds faster that what I need to average in SGM. I cooled down with Cheris for 1 mile and then ran 2 more on the new soft track. A great workout today - Thanks guys!! 20 min ice bath afterwards - so nice. We are spending the rest of the day at Lagoon for my work party - me and 4 kids because my husband is out of town.........it should be interesting. Pink Mizuno 102.25 Happy Running!

Ran on my own today. Paula was going to go, but over slept - lucky her! It was good practice because I have not done a lot of that lately. I wanted get some down hill miles in preparation for SG, so I ran up for 4 miles and then down hill and flat for another 6. I had a hard time getting going on the down hill but finally got there. | I woke up so incredibly tired and really debated going out this morning, but new tired was better than regret/guilt. I headed out to Bingham High and ran with the BBK today. We warmed up for 2.5 and then divided into a track group and a road group. I opted for the road group. We ran 2.5 tempo miles and then ran another 1.5 in fartlek style work out. Once home walked the kids to school and then ran back. I did not have it in me today to run up the hill to make it a mile, that stroller really takes it out of me! (pretty sad) So only .65 extra. 8 easy miles today. I met Paula at 5:45 and we ran 6 together. She had speed going until she almost got hit by a car, I am so glad she is okay! Today was a recovery run for me, so nice easy run for the joy of running day. We finished at 6 miles and as I was heading home I realized that I still had 15 minutes before I needed to be home so I added on to make 8 for the day. Asics 49.3

| Ran with the BBK today. We ran up Glenmore and back down. My goal for today's run was to average marathon pace. I started out with a fast pace warm up during the up hill and my keys came unpinned from my shorts so I had to go back and find them. I fell way behind the group so I had to work hard to catch up - this took a long time. I pushed as hard as I could up to the turn around and then started to really push the pace. I caught the main group as we went back up the "big hill" and then passed them at the top. I continued to push the rest of the way down. My 4 miles from the turn around were all in the mid to low 7's - YEAH! Ave Pace 8:02 Pink Mizuno Happy Running!

Cheris, Michelle and I did our 22 mile run today. I have been scared and apprehensive about todays run. We started out slow and then progressed through out the run. It was very dark and we had a good head wind the first little bit but slowly the sun came up and finally the last third the wind was to our backs. We had 1 bathroom break at mile 10 and took three GU's along the way. I wanted to see how my body would handle three because I have never taken more than two. I felt great the entire way today! At the end I know I could have done more, this is so encouraging. Today was the best I have felt after our 20 milers. You never know what will happen on race day but this is a good sign that things are going well! Pink Mizunos 152.25 Ave Pace 8:51 Happy Running!

| I am completely frustrated with yesterday. I had to go to Seattle for work on Sunday and I came home on the first flight on Monday, 6:00 am, so I had to leave for the airport at 4:30 am. I had planned on running last night but I got home from work and my son had volleyball and my daughter had piano and then my sister came over for a visit and then I still had a late night training session and the run was lost...........I cannot wait to run in the evening, it is too hard to get it done. Today we ran with the BBK and did some relay/repeats. It was a tough work out but actually a lot of fun. We warmed up for 2.75 and then did 1 mile at tempo pace. We then did 3 x .25 relay's with our partner on flat ground and then did 4 x .25 hill repeats and then a cooldown. I still am slow but need to work on getting faster. We then had some cool down miles. I am not sure on an average pace because I rest my watch and missed some of the repeats. Pink Mizunos 159.35 Happy Running!

| Today was 4x5K day with the BBK. My goal for today was to run two at marathon pace. I used the first 5K as a warm up and then started the second. The second 5K was 24:16 with an ave pace of 8:05. The third was 23:23 with an ave pace of 7:45. We took the fourth and used it for a cool down. I really love these 5k repeats. I am very happy with how these went and that the last BIG speed work out is done, easy miles with some strides from here on out. | Oh, today was rough! We ran the same half marathon route we did two weeks ago and today was much worse. The route itself is actually pretty good but I felt awful. I have not gotten enough sleep this week and my legs were very tired. We head up the first 4 miles, which are all up hill and then started the down hill / flat section. I needed to have a bathroom break so at mile 7 we stopped. Michelle and Cheris GU'd at this point but I was unsure because my stomach had felt so bad. We kept going, up in front of the Daybreak Temple and then down to 118th. I was feeling pretty good so I took my GU and that was a mistake. Less than a mile in, I need to go to the bathroom again and I knew I had 3 miles before the next gas station. So I tried to put it out of my mind as we started our marathon pace miles. They were: 8:24 - to slow - especially for down hill 8:02 - better - flat 8:18 - up hill 8:13 - up hill 8:13 - to slow - down hill I am not very happy with these splits but with a goal of 8:12 for the marathon they were pretty close. I know with enough sleep and a better stomach these would be better. Enough whining, I had my meltdown in the car on the way home. Time to refocus, taper and sleep. | I am in Fort Worth today for training and slept in, so I had to run tonight. It was 90 degrees + humidity, so I did not have high expectations. I drove over to the Trinity Trail systems. They are great trails that go forever. Lots of runners, walkers, bikers and families out. I went out 2.5 and back 2.5. The heat didn't bother me at all but my calves were extremely tight and pulling on my feet, creating burning in my arches. More stretching needed. Blue Mizunos Ave Pace 8:31

We did another 15 at marathon pace and then recovered back to the parking lot. Today flew by. It did not feel like 8 miles at all. I had no intention of pushing other than I was going to do two 1/4 mile pick ups while I was on the flat part. The mile and 1/2 home were just fast because it had some down hill. Overall I felt great today and a little more optimistic about Saturday. I finally went and got my marathon shorts last night, I procrastinated wwwaaaayyy to long! They are SHORT! YIKES! WOW! I can now say I have run a marathon. What an awesome experience. All of last winters running outside in crappy weather had paid off because I had no worries or fears regarding the weather. However, there was a little mishap right before the start. I checked to see if my GU's were okay and they were, however as soon as I passed the chip mat I felt my pockets and they were all gone but one. I decided not to panic and worst case scenario I would only GU at mile thirteen. I was so happy at mile 3 when the were giving them out and I stock up and held on to them and ended up dropping one along the way but grabbed another at the next stop. Here are the details: Mile 1: 8:36 - right on track and feeling good, trying not to panic about the GU Mile 2: 8:24 - Feeling good - See Dean from the BBK. Mile 3: 8:04 - Still right on track and loving it! Mile 4: 7:58 - More of the same Mile 5: 8:03 - Ditto Mile 6: 7:52 - Ditto x 2 Mile 7: 7:50 - Getting ready for Veyo hill - See Jamie and Linday Kryling
Mile 8: 9:37 - Veyo Hill - OUCH! I wasn't as worried about this as I was the miles just after but it kicked my butt! THANK YOU to Koby from the blog for not letting me walk and keeping me going - YOU ROCK! We ended up running together until mile 13. Mile 9: 8:57 - Starting to fall behind the pace but I am okay with that because I do not want to push at this point. Mile 10: 8:44 - Just working up the hill Mile 11: 8:45 - Keep trucking up the hill Mile 12: 8:25 - Oops! more hill than I thought Mile 13: 8:05 - Half way point! YEAH!!!!! This came fast! Mile 14: 8:45 - Trying to still keep it slow and no pushing yet. Mile 15: 8:00 - Calfs start cramping and they never went away but I survived.
Mile 16: 8:14 - Feeling good. Mile 17: 7:57 - Winchester Hill - I began being my own motivational speaker and cheerleader at this point and for the remainder of the marathon it went like this " You can do it! You are strong!" Repeated over and over and over again! Mile 18: 8:25 - Going up the hill Mile 19: 8:20 - Enjoying the run and really starting to feel good Mile 20: 7:50 - Decide to let myself go and have fun - Maybe a little to early. Mile 21: 7:41 - Lovin' it! Mile 22: 8:21 - Getting ready to see my family - Gotta look good!
Mile 23: 8:03 - 5K to go and happy to see my family cheering! Mile 24: 7:58 - Feeling okay but really having to push to keep my pace down Mile 25: 8:19 - Hanging on, legs are tired and hurting. My blurry vision is coming and I am trying to keep seeing.
Mile 26: 8:44 - Hitting the wall! So happy I made it this far before this happened. For those of you that have seen "Run, Fat Boy, Run" I just tried not to have a Dennis moment. Focusing on the finish and getting there. .2: 2:29 - Do not want to fall, trying to stay upright and get across the finish line. This was a great experience. I learned I need to spend more time running hills but I am so happy with my time and that I Boston Qualified! Congrats to everyone who ran today! Way to be tough in the rain and wind and persevere!

I am feeling much better than I did yesterday - sitting in a car for 4.5 hrs was not a good idea, even if we had 5 potty breaks (my girls have the worlds tiniest bladders). | I was so excited to run with Marcie today, I over did it. We do not get to run together very often so I have to take advantage of any opportunity that I get. We did an out and back and I thought that it was pretty flat but it ended up being uphill on the way out and down on the way back. I was so worried about my calf but it ended up being okay. My left leg gave me grief from mile 7 on and I ended up walking the mile 11 home...no need to push too hard today. My other sister in law worked on me after the marathon and she commented on how tight my left leg was compared to my right, but it has been my right that has given me so much trouble. Today I feel it though. The left leg is nice and tight, top to bottom. It was so nice to get back out and run, but seriously - why is winter already here! Ran the first 4.25 with Renee this morning. We had a nice time visiting, which caused us to be way to slow. I dropped her off and then went to add on 3 more. I felt like I was below MP and close to 10K but when I was done the garmin only showed 1 at 10K and the rest were slower than MP - Booo! Not to worry too much, I really was not supposed to do any "speed" work this week. So just a funny thing - I was reading Benn's report and I am SOOO excited for him!! Ran with Julie, Angela and Michelle N. this morning and it was so WINDY! Whenever we headed south on the trail we had a very strong headwind. My ankle started hurting with about 2 miles to go, but now it is fine ... not to worry about I guess. It was, as usual, a very good run. They make the time fly by and are a great group to run with.
I have had some garmin issues this week. I forgot it Tuesday morning morning and then this morning it was dead......I need to be better prepared.
I came home and my husband suggested sitting in the pool instead of having an ice bath because the water would be about the same temperature. Only problem is that it is cold outside! It wasn't as terrible as I thought it was going to be when I started out but if it gets much colder I will be back in my tub. Pink Mizuno's 256.67 Ave Pace 8:30 Happy Running!

I did not have time to go out with the BBK today and when I got up to go on my own my head was pounding. I have had a lingering headache from a migraine a couple of weeks ago that comes and goes, so I chose a little more sleep. Not sure if that was the best idea but the decision has been made. We leave for SG tonight so I will get some good running tomorrow and Saturday. Happy Running!

| Mixed feelings about today's run. The Good: 1. I ran with Marcie which is always great! She is so sweet to run with me, the slow whiny girl.
2. I ran in shorts and a T-Shirt for the first time since the marathon. 3. I had 5 fast miles which were all 8:00 or under - YEAH! The Bad: 1. We had planned on two 5k's but I was beat after one and new that doing another was not a good idea with a long run tomorrow, so I told Marcie I needed easy miles for the rest. 2. I tired out sooner that I expected, especially because I did not run yesterday. So instead of 12 miles I ended with 10. 3. I thought that I could get the other 2 in with Jake but when I got back to my mom's he did not want to run and my husband was going golfing so that was the end my running this morning.:( I am very happy with my overall pace of 8:15, but so disapointed with my shape and the fact that I quit. UGH! Happy Running!

I ran with Marcie again as well as her friends Peggy, Heidi and Cherie. We had a good run today with a hill in SG that I hate, but I made it up - barely. We took it pretty slow the first half and then picked up the pace the second half. I had decided though that beginning Nov 1 I would drop the pace on what I considered fast miles by 10 seconds so only 2 today at 8:10 or faster, 1 however was sub 8. It was a good run despite being a little shorter than what I had planned due to running out of time. I also went and saw April today. She did a great job working on my calves and my hamstrings and I am feeling much better. Ave Pace 8:35 Happy Running!

| Ran this morning with Paula, Renee and Jake. Jake only ran a little over a mile because he wasn't feeling well. I ran him back home and then caught up with Paula and Renee to finish Renee's portion at 4.25 and then Paula and I ran the rest together at a pretty good pace. Kind of a crazy run but always fun. | Great BBK run today. I heard the wind blowing and I did not want to head out in it this morning. Then I could not decide how warm to dress, finally after a few changes and a couple of things to bring "just in case" I was on my way. We met at Riverton High today and ran around the neighborhoods there. It ended up being a progressive run with 2 fast miles and one at 8:11. Felt great! Ave Pace 8:30 Happy Running!

| Winter running is officially here! Oh, how I have missed the wind blowing snow in my face and blinding me, running in soggy wet shoes and crazy drivers who do not scrap their windows and then almost hit us. Seriously though, there is something pretty special about running in the snow and today was the first of many more to come. I am not sure if I am excited or sad.....I had a great time with Paula and Renee but I am ready for my hot shower. Happy Running!

| Ran with the BBK today out in Herriman. We met at Kelli's house and then ran the hills out there - WOW! It is pretty hilly and we had some good climbs. I now know why Kelli and Scott are so good on the hills. We started out as a group but I ended up with Scott and Peggy, so they pushed me a little which was great! Ave Pace 8:16 Happy Running!

| I had big plans for today to get my last long run in before I leave, but my husband had to go to work early so my time was cut short. Paula and I got in 8.75 and I was going to add on until I realized what time it was and that I needed to get home. We had a nice relaxed pace and enjoyed the run. The cloud cover was great - it was 15 degrees warmer than yesterday! Ave Pace 9:16 Happy Running!

I am in Paris today and ran along the Seine River. It was a very good run despite the mighty head wind. However, I was not dressed appropriately. I wore shorts and a long sleeve T and everyone else is bundled up for winter. I got plenty of weird looks for that and the fact that I was the only runner. I am heading back out to wander and take pictures. Ave Pace 8:43 Happy Running!

I ran in India today on the hotel treadmill. I have no idea how Tom did 10 miles a day when he was here - it was a sauna. I really do not think that I have ever sweated that much EVER! I was dripping wet. It was a good run and when I converted the kilometers over to miles I was surprised it was 5 miles. I have no idea on a pace but it felt rather quick 5K of it was in less that 25 min. I followed up with 10 min on the stair stepper and 10 min on the bike. More treadmilling tomorrow. I noticed that my the banner advertisement changed to an Indian related ad.

| I ran on the treadmill again. I did hill work to make it feel like a quality workout. I had a quick bathroom break which helped break up the monotomy. I have no idea how so many of you run so much on the treadmill. I am asking again about running outside, even though I know the answer will be the same. Again, so much sweat. The only other time I have been this wet running was in the SGM - I am a mess when I am done. I also decided to start counting animals I see out the window - They are in the road or crossing the street. Today 5 cows - 2 black, 2 brown, 1 white; 1 white pig; 1 black dog - almost got hit by a car. We will see what tomorrow brings. Happy Running!

More treadmilling today. I really did not want to go but I told myself today could be an easy day and do 5K and if you want to stop you can. It is amazing how changing the perception of things makes it easier. I felt great and took it pretty easy for the first 20 minutes and then started picking up the pace a little, keeping in mind that I will do some speed work tomorrow. I ended up with 10K which makes me really happy, but I am going to be very late for work. The average pace was probably around 8:50 (not very speedy at all) I did not realize the time or I would have stopped a while ago. Glad it was done. Glad I at least get to run, even if it is on a treadmill. Sightings from the window: 1 cow, 1 pig, 1 motercyle with a Dad, Mom, Child and infant; First sighting for me ever of a Dad, Mom and twin infants on a motercycle. I will try to post a picture from another trip so that you can see all the people on the motercylces later. Happy Running!

No run for me today. I ended up with a 15 hr work day yesterday and then got back to the hotel and slept for 7 hrs - YEAH! That is by far the longest stretch of sleep that I have had since I left. It was so nice but my body realized how tired it was and is still dragging. Today is probably going to be more of the same but hopefully I will get back before 4 am. No time yet to post the picture, hopefully I will get some downtime later today. Happy Running!

Another treadmill run. I worked 15 hrs again yesterday but didn't sleep well so I was up in time to run. I wanted to do a speed work out today with a 5K about race pace. I did a 1.5K warm up, followed by a 5K run and then a 1.5K cool down. I completed the 5K portion in 23:11. So if it had not been on a treadmill and it had been a race it would be a PR. I am pretty happy about that. I had no idea of my pace per mile but I hated the last 1.5 of the 5K portion and wanted to quit so I knew I was working hard. I could not get the pictures to post, so here is a link to my family blog and the pictures are there. Enjoy! Happy Running! |

It has been a very long time since I missed three days in a row of running. Saturday I was completely exhausted from three consecutive 15 hr days. I ended up sleeping most of Saturday and then going to dinner that evening. Sunday I went to church which I love. The branch here in Delhi is amazing. We then headed out to the Neemrana Fort which is is indescribable. I have more details and pictures about both posted on my family site. My hip has been bothering me quite a bit the last couple of days and I know it is from running on a treadmill. I ended up telling myself I would see how it goes and if I it did not improve, I could stop. I ended up making it 10K but not any of it enjoyable. There really wasn't any pain, I am just tired of the sauna enviroment and I really, really dislike the treadmill - BUT it is better than not running at all. We will see what tomorrow brings. Just under 9 min miles again. Happy Running!

| No run today. My hip bothered me quite badly yesterday and was still sore this morning. I stretched it good and it is feeling better, but I am not ready to risk an injury. So I was lazy and at chocolate and watched TV before I headed to the office. My days are still long 12 - 15 hrs a day but it is Wednesday and I only have 2 more days left before I leave. I always miss my family so much and I cannot wait to see them but there is a part of me that loves being here. I keep trying to convince my family to move to India, but no go. I am sure if I lived here full time it would not be the same. SO, two more days before I get to see my kids and be home and sleep in my own bed and run outside! | |

| No run again today. I got up and ready to go and went down to the fitness center and the treadmill, bike and eliptical were all gone! No kidding! I tried to ask what happened and were the equipment went but received no answers. Only in India would something like this happen! I really was speechless. Who moves exercise equipment? I rested and figured this is it until I get home. In other news... We went to Bukhara today for lunch. It is a world class Indian restuarant that is to die for, and Indian food is not my favorite. Something happens when I get there though and it is amazing. YUMMY! Happy Running or Eating for me!

| So nice to be home for a while - at least a week or two. I have had a sore throat for the last few days and did not feel well at all on Saturday morning. Last night when I went to bed I was feeling horrible again and had almost decided to miss this mornings run. I got up and decided I felt okay and knowing that it would be an easy run I decided to go. I ended up feeling pretty good, but it was a slow pace with Paula and Renee. We had a nice time catching up with each other but I am seriously lacking motivation right now. I need to refocus. Hopefully tomorrow will be better. Happy Running!

| Ran with the BBK today. They met for extra miles at 5:15 and I could not pull myself out of bed to go. I ended up getting there about 5 min early and warmed up a little and then joined the group for the regular work out. The wind made the effort seem harder than usual but I also had 2 sub 8 miles and one at 8:10. They are such a great group to run with. Still working on remotivating myself. My hip bothered me a little yesterday along with my left quad during my run and they got progressively worse through out the day. I was going to scrape them last night but was lazy and I paid for it this morning when I got up to run and they were still achy. I am not willing to risk further injury so I went back to bed and laid there and fussed about it for 2 hrs. I am now completely cranky but going to scrape my hip and hopefully run tomorrow. | Paula and I met early and ran my favorite run up through Westridge. Unfortunately it is not her favorite run but she was a good sport. The first four miles of up hill were not as bad as I remember, however we did not push hard either. We enjoyed the view at the top and then ran back. I dropped her off at 9 miles and then added on another three. I was feeling pretty good until 10.5 and then the tired set in. I probably should have GU'd at nine miles like I had originally planned, but the last three miles were the fastest of the day and they were on flat terrain. That is a good sign.

Met Cheris this morning. I was really worried about driving out to SJ and running in the cold but after a sleepless night I decided running was better than laying awake in bed. The cold was not near as bad as I had feared and we ended up having a really good run. Now to the sad news, my husband got layed off yesterday. We were caught off guard becuase even though there were lay offs at his work he had been told that his job was fine. But that is the only sad part. As we have talked about this over the last day we continually recognize how blessed we are and that we have some resources to get us through for a little while. We recognize that the Lord has a plan and we have to have faith that we will be okay. Being able to see this is the greatest blessing of all. Ave Pace 9:03 Happy Running!

There were moments of good running - when I was on pavement, but the rest was tough. The soft snow is like running in sand.
