Easy TM run.

Around 4 pm I finally dragged myself out the door and went to my office and ran on the treadmill. It's snowy and cold here. There's not a lot of snow, but enough to be troublesome. Mostly there's just a lot of cold, which means the snow is not going away.

I really hate running on the treadmill. I don't know how I used to do it. When I started running 3 1/2 years ago, I ran exclusively on the TM for about the first 10 months as I recall.

I need to start running more for my sanity. I need the time alone to clear my head and pound my worries into the ground. This parenting thing is stressful.

I took advantage of the fact that college boy is still home.He could be with his little sister and I could go out a little later and not have to be back before boy #3 left for school. I believe college boy slept through it all, but oh well.

I was slow this morning and I had to slow down even more from time to time because of ice.

See, I haven't stopped running completely. An email from Snoqualmie yesterday got me out the door today. Now if I can just keep it up.

I used to think that 3 miles wasn't worth heading out the door for, but right now it's about all that I can handle, so I've got to make myself get out and do it with some frequency.

I've got the day off work today, but I got up relatively early and met Lindsay and Allie and ran with them. I ran about a half mile to meet them, then ran a couple of miles with them, and then ran the rest by myself. I need to try to run at least 3 times this week.

I ran pretty slowly today, but it didn't feel that slow to me. I certainly wasn't pushing the pace, but I didn't realize how slow I was either.

I guess the warm weather we've been having for the last few days is gone. Oh well. At least I managed to drag myself out of the door this morning for a little tiny run.

It's Friday, so I ran with Lindsay this morning. We saw Michelle out running with the other Michelle. Michelle has been rehabbing her hip since her baby was born and she's just starting to get back into running now. Maybe in a couple of months, we can get our Saturdays on the trail going again.

Slow run.

Lindsay called last night and asked if I wanted to run with her this morning. She usually runs with someone else on Mondays, but I guess that person wasn't available today. So we arranged to meet at 6:15 at a corner that's about halfway between our houses. I got there just a minute early and looked for her but couldn't see her. I wasn't sure which way she would come (she has two choices), so I ran a little ways down one of the ways and didn't see her, so I turned around and went back to the meeting place. I waited for a couple of minutes and by then it was 6:20, so I decided to go all the way down one of the ways she might come. I did that and went a little past the turn off to her house, thinking that I would just run by myself, but then I changed my mind and turned around and went to her house and knocked on the door. She came to the door in her pajamas and said that she had set her alarm wrong. She said she could be ready in 10 minutes. So I ran a little loop around her neighborhood for 10 minutes and then we ran together for a couple of miles.

I've been working a lot the last several months and have taken very little time off. As a result, I have a good chunk of vacation accrued, which I have never had before. I usually fritter it a way as quickly as I earn it. But things have slowed down a bit at work, and I so I decided to take this whole week off and try to catch up on some things at home. So I could have waited and run later this morning after I got my daughter off to school, but I went earlier so that I could run with Lindsay. Maybe I'll wait until later on Wednesday.

It's Friday, so thanks to Lindsay, I got out and ran this morning. I called this an easy run because it was so slow, but truthfully, this painfully slow pace is not so easy for me any more, at least not when there's any kind of uphill grade at all. I've gotten so out of shape.

Also, I'm tired. This week off from work has not been restful at all. I've been working like crazy on the house. It took me 3 1/2 days to clean out the basement. We had boxes from when we moved here nearly 5 years ago, that we hadn't unpacked. I think I need another week to finish up, but I'm afraid I've got to go back to work next week.

6:40 am, 25°F, 81% humidity, winds calm, "light freezing drizzle mist" (that was the description on wunderground.com)

I got out this morning before it got really cold. Apparently the high temperature for today happened at 1 am. Now it's 9 degrees outside. Nevertheless, on account of the "light freezing drizzle mist" this morning, the roads were pretty slick. I ran with Lindsay and Allie and we had to run single file most of the way on whatever part of the road was dryest. I might have wimped out this morning if I hadn't been meeting them.

I'm afraid it's just going to get colder here before it gets warmer again. I'll take tomorrow off from running, but I'm not sure about Wednesday.

AP: 10:29. Splits: 10:18, 10:45 (we walked a short stretch in this mile because it was so slick), 10:28, 10:39, 0.71 @ 10:06 (this was my attempt to go a little faster after I split from the group).
