Warmed up a mile and then raced the cottonwood heights thanksgiving 5k. I felt pretty good the first mile, the opening hill was tough but I recovered pretty well. The 2nd hill before the half way point turned my legs to jello. I've very much been neglecting hill trainingy. It was hard to get back up to pace after that one. I'll have to find some hills near grove city or start using a treadmill for incline. Ended at just over 19 minutes for the race. So a good amount slower than my goal, but that's okay. Next week I'll try to run another 5k at the track near my house or my neighborhood loop. Overall had a great time, I got to see Rob Murphy after the race which was really cool. No better feeling than getting a good workout racing a morning 5k and still having the whole day ahead of you. |
