Personal:

I ran for Alta high school and was trained by Coach Murphy, he is a great coach, one of the best there is. I ran for Southern Utah University for a year or two. I am currently a doctoral student at Bowling Green State University studying industrial organizational psychology. Right now my main goals are to stay healthy and run consistently.

Ran with Jake and jumped in for the first 4 of his 10 400ms and then 2 of the last 3. The first four splits were 69/70 (too fast, but felt great in the moment), 72, 76, 81. Then took a 5 minute break before running 72 and 74 for the last 2. I haven't been taking my asthma medication or I think I could have avoided the 81. Still felt good to get back out there. Asthma symptoms do feel a lot easier to work through and less devastating than before the surgery. Still don't feel 100% but breathing feels a lot more clear.

Little achilles pain the past couple days. Need to get back to daily calf raises and using my massage gun. Feeling kind of out of shape, I sped up to 6:00 pace for a little over half a mile and it felt tough. I want to get back to where 5:50 pace is sustainable for a long run.

First 4 mile run since the surgery, legs felt tired the last mile.

Ran while Becca walked on a path near the apartment. Weather was perfect today, and I ended up running pretty fast- averaged 6:45 for the run. It felt really good up until the last mile, I started feeling a bit drained. Excited to see how fast I can get over the next year.

Warm up at planet fitness, I tried a couple pick ups but I really don't like their treadmills- they make my legs feel really heavy.

Ran south and found a large park. Felt pretty good.

Warmed up half a mile and then did 4 quarter miles and a half mile at 5:00 pace, quarter mile at about 8:00 pace between each. I ran 74, 76, 73, 71, 2:33. Felt pretty good for the first 2 or 3, the quarter mile felt tough and then the last rep was tough. Not quite as fast on the half mile as I would have liked, but I had to make a couple tight turns during it so was still probably decent.

Additional 2 miles walking with Becca.
