Russian champion tries Crocs, commits to racing a marathon in them

Nikolay Chavkin in the video below did 3x1000, first two in Adidas carbon-fiber models, the last one in Crocs. Surprised by the result (2:52, 2:52, 2:50) with the fastest interval done in Crocs, he committed to racing a marathon in Crocs if the video gets 42K likes and 195 comments (for 42 km 195 m, the marathon distance). Nikolay's current marathon PR is 2:14:00. The video was created by a Russian sporting goods store chain. Was going to go to the gym, but when I started jogging there I decided to run instead. I didn't have my watch since I didn't plan on going running. So I just ran wherever I felt like and measured it tonight in our car with my mom. Ran for 1:45 and was hoping to get 15 miles because I thought that was 8 minute pace but my math was wrong and it ended up being 7:33 pace so I'm definitely happy with it.

Didn't sign up for the race which would explain why I don't know what place I came in, but it wasn't towards the front. Really didn't know what to expect coming into this race and wasn't too worried about time or anything either. Ran pretty much between 6:00 and 6:30 except mile 13 was in 6:37 and the mile I stopped for a bathroom break was in 7:20 and 1 mile in 5:57. It was fun to see a lot of people I knew at the race and talk to some people I hadn't talked to for awhile. Legs tightened up pretty good in the last 2 miles and was kind've upset the course was long, but considering the kind of shape I'm in I'll definitely take it. Great job to everyone who ran.

Went ice fishiing for the first time this morning. It actually wasn't as cold as I thought it was going to be so that was good. Ran 10 miles in 1:05.12, then jogged to 10.5 miles in 1:09. I was at the gym so i stopped to go to the bathroom after 10.5, then got back on the treadmill for another 20 minutes and 2.9 miles. Really happy with the first 10 especially last mile in 5:12, total time was 1:29 not including the bathroom break.

Glad to see that you are getting some running in. We should start running on Saturdays if you dont have games. This little bit of running that you are doing will put you far ahead of guys like Matt and Kyle. I bet you can run 4:50 and 10:20 for the first meet.

I need to come check out these treadmills at Spirit. A mile in 4:56 on the mill. That seems a little fast. Maybe not, but I could not do it.

Jogged 1 mile on the mill, then did the stairclimber about 2.25 miles in 15 minutes, then did 3 miles pretty hard on the mill in 19:35, and just ran out the next 25 seconds.

Ran 3 in P.E., 3 right after school because I didn't think I was going to end up getting a run in because I had to go to the orthodontist, about half an hour later, it was funny because my mom was driving me home from the orthodontist and we saw the team running so she dropped me off and I ran 3-4 miles with the team. After that I ran 1 mile on the indoor track with Coach Harris. I also ran all 10 in my Jordan's shoes because I wasn't planning on running any of the times.

Ran 5 in P.E. the last 3 were pretty fast but I didn't have my watch. Ran 1.5 mile warmup before practice, then ran 5.5 in practice. After that I ran 4 more.

Ran 7 this morning because I can't make it to Track practice today because I have to take my Driving Test. Started off really slow with the first miles being:8:02, 7:03, and 7:15, but then was under 6:40 for the next 4 so I'm happy with it. 6:53 avg. Ended up getting 8 more throughout the day. Ran 5 at 6:42 pace after school, with a mile cooldown, then ran 2 more later.

Warmed up 2 miles before the mile. I ran the mile in 4:46, which is a pr for me and I also ran close to even splits and felt very good so I am definitely happy with this race. Ran 10 miles after the race because I felt very good. Later I was bored and wanted to exercise so I jogged .52 to the track, then ran 3 miles at 5:46 pace. Then I ran a 1.19 mile cooldown.

.3 mile jog to the track. We ran 7.2 miles for the Sports Authority route at practice, then did 7 striders and a 2.5 mile jog when I was done. Tomorrow we are doing are first workout on the track so hopefully I can run well in that.

I ran up to the road the Hart's and In n Out is on, then headed south, Greg told me I should just do an out and back so I wouldn't get lost, but I didn't want to run uphill on the way back, so I ended up running through neighborhoods around Washington Fields, then finally got directions back from some lady around there.

Ran 2.5 to the track, at the track, and over to the high school. Then me Greg, and another guy from the team did about 9. The first 4 were between 7 and 7:30 pace, and the next 5 were at about 6:00 pace, feeling pretty beat up right now, but hopefully I will be rested for our track workout tomorrow.

Warmed up .8. We did a track workout today of 4 X 800, and 4 X 400. The 8's were supposed to start out a little slower than 2 mile pace and gradually get faster, and the 4's were supposed to be a faster than mile pace. The first 8 was 2:35, so too slow, but after that they were okay, 2:28, 2:26, and 2:22. The 4's were on pace and pretty hard. The first was 61, and the next threee were between 60-61, cooled down 2.7, I estimated that we jogged 1.5 total in between intervals, probably not quite that much but close.

Ran 1.96 before practice, then just kept running once we got started and didn't reset my watch. We are on spring/easter break Wed. through Friday, so ran in the morning. The rest of the team ran on the indoor track but for some reason I wanted to run outside today. Didn't know how far I was going to go so just started running. Ended up running 16 at 7:00 pace including the running before practice. Last mile in 5:25, the pace was around 7:10 for most of the run but ran the last 3 in around 18:30. Later did 20 minutes fast on the stairclimber, passed 3 miles in 17:35. For some reason I can go almost as fast on that as running.

Not much running today, I'm planning on going easy today and tomorrow and long saturday. .5 mile warmup, then 4 X 1200. The goal was 4:00, not that fast but we went hard Monday so today's workout wasn't intended to be that hard. Times were 3:58, 3:58, 3:54, and 3:43. Good workout, and still didn't feel like I was going all out even on the last one. Legs felt pretty sore from yesterday though. 2 miles cooldown.

jogged .7 up to the golf course, then did a 2.25 mile loop 4 times, there was 3 hills in the loop, 1 of which was just under .5 miles long and very steep, another hill that was pretty hard, and one that wasn't too hard. My avg. paces for the loops were, 7:00, 6:39, 6:34, and probably about 6:25 for the last one. My watch turned off about half way into the 4th one, which was very irritating. Overall a great workout in cold weather, about .55 jog back to my house.
