No running today! i found today that helps with training for marathon. Ryan hall teaches about how to train for one. I hope this helps http://www.mastertheshift.com/masters/hall/videos/index.asp?videoID=rh0 . I sure learned a lot from it. Something to think about. Have a good week! :)

Hmmmm just watched most of the videos now, I have learnt some stuff! I am doing allot of what he says, only thing I am not doing is the actual marathon pace runs, but I dont see this as training a system other than pyschological, as all the other sessions your actually training one of your systems whether it be lactic acid threshold, vo2 max, Anaerobic Capacity etc..... My experience and what my coach tells me : has been that the Aerobic Threshold occurs at slightly slower than marathon race pace to slightly faster than marathon race pace for most runners. Long slow runs, @ 1min -1.30 min slower than marathon pace, This is very important. The physiological benefits kick in around 90-120 minutes, no matter how fast you run. You'll burn a few calories and trigger glycogen regenesis, teaching your muscles to conserve fuel. Running too fast defeats this purpose and may unnecessarily tear down your muscles, compromising not only your midweek workouts, but the following week's long run. Also the long slow run does other things but I could go on forever

Lore of running book is a great reference for Runners of all distances! Sorry if that sounds like a lesson dont mean to sound like that, but he does alot of great training I dont like to criticise anyone as everyone needs personalised training to them and suit how they tick, and thats were a real good coach comes in :-) Great link very interesting, show me my coach is pretty damn good thanks again Sam
