This was a very frustrating race for me! I almost gave
up around mile 8 I think. But even though I am frustrated I do give God the
glory for all the help He gave me. I will write more later.
Later: I sure had a very busy day! I started my day at 3:45, and then my
race started at 7:00. Then I had to come home early to perform a wedding at
5:00, now I will be going to a movie at 7:30. What a day! Well here are my times, but I have
to write them out because my other computer is broke. Also, my time is off from
the official time because around mile four my shoe lace needed to retie and for some reason i stopped my watch.

I think a lot of my problem is I forgot to take my
inhaler at mile five and that really affected me. Then both my legs IT muscle
was hurting me. Which is due to lack of oxygen, I think. Like I said before I wanted
to quit and I am glad I did not.I am
not sure what God is trying to teach me something through this, but in His time
He will reveal it to me. Now on to the good news I was 20 out of 3000 I think, I
still need to find this out. Then third
for my age and I will be getting an award, I think. So thank you all for the
support, it really means a lot to me! Also, I had the honor of meeting the
famous Marion, what an awesome lady. For those of you who do not read her blog

You're a heck of a lot better runner than you were just a few months ago. Keep up the good work and the times will continue to improve. Not every run may be a pr, but I'm certain you still have several ahead of you.

Barry, I know that you are probably disappointed in your result but even on an off day you ran almost 7 minutes faster than last year and ran within a minute of your PR. You have made some excellent progress and when everything clinks in an upcoming race I'm sure you will see the result that you expect. Keep up the good work!

BARRY!!! It was SO great to meet you today!!! You know, we learn the most when everything goes belly up :) I am so sorry it was a crappy race for you :( Running is so wonderful when it goes great, and SO horrid when it goes badly :p Your time is FANTASTIC!

Barry - That's when I'm doing my long runs. I like doing them on Friday rather than Saturday. You should be good and ready to do one next Friday as long as you feel no soreness and no IT band issues. Rest and recover for a couple of days with no running. Then get back in the swing of things. I think on 11 mile of your splits you meant 6:59 not 5:59.

Barry - Did you go in the race confident and wanting to have fun? You did run the first mile pretty fast, even faster than the downhill miles. The fast start could have been a little bit of an hindrance and mental block. This could have caused you to get off pace and worry that you started out too fast.
We trained hard on the downhill miles, but maybe a few hill repeats might have been good to work on the quads and hamstrings.
If you had any negative thoughts which it sounds like you did than that will stop you right there. Sometimes when the bodies sore you have to block the feeling out and think positive. I do this myself.

Hey Barry, I do it every time, I have a secret goal other than the one my coach tells me to do, Ill say Im going for 3 hours but really secretly I want faster I want sub 2hrs 55! You know if I wasnt and you didnt have these goals and wanting to do better every time, you wouldnt be as good as you are!
Its simple some people just wanna push themselves and others dont. So well done, I felt really crap after my last half I PR'd but didnt do what I wanted hahah its funny now but wasnt at the time.
Chin up and get some training in of course after youve recovered...

Sam, thanks for your support. Now that i have had a chance to calm down a little, i feel better. And you are right i did have a secret goal of 1:20. But something happened at church today that helped me a lot. Kory mom was telling me that i did not have the right mind set. I think i was thinking that with the course being down hill that i would not have to work as hard. When that did not happen and i was working harder and i was not even close to the to the time i wanted i was very frustrated at myself. Then my shoe came untied and my hands were so frozen that i could not tie my shoe, which slowed me down and not taking my inhaler. I can now see why i was having such a hard time. But i can say that i did learn a lot from this race. Then it also leaves me with more questions. Anyway, thanks for all your help, it really means a lot.
