Today we ran our Vertical Mile time trial. I ran a warmup around the park with Kenzie and Emily then we drove up to the trailhead, where I stretched and did a few drills. The girls started first. I started a little fast, but realized it before I crashed so I was able to pace myself. My goal was to break 10 minutes (seriously this hill is steep, worse than JCC for any of you East kiddos reading this) I finished at 9:57, right with Emily. After, all of us girls were coughing because our throats all burned. The boys finished shortly after and then we started our 45 minute run. I ran 22 minutes out with some of the girls and then 22 minutes back, plus that extra downhill mile we had just ran up. I felt pretty sick before and after, but not as sick as my roommate. Hope you feel better! :)

Today for our run we started at a church and ran along another paved trail. We ran the first mile as a warmup, then the girls were instructed to run 7:30 or faster for the rest of the run. I stayed with various teammates throughout the whole run and felt pretty great. We went about a 7 minute pace. Afterwards I took an ice bath with my roomies. We posted some pictures on Facebook if anyone wants to see them! :) #WolverineWay

Later I went to a lifting session with Emily, Kenzie, and Lexie, where we did some basic work with some bars. Later at team lifting we did a lot of hard things with heavy weights, so I'm gonna be pretty sore tomorrow. After all of our core I biked 20 minutes with Lexie and Emily. #WolverineWay

Today we did a tempo run on the Provo trail. We met at some park and ran a 20 minute warmup on the trail. We met Coach Evans at the start and did some stretches and drills. Boys were to do 5 miles of tempo, girls 4. I worked with Emily the whole time, our first mile was 6:59 and our second was 12:34. The wind was against us and it was a little uphill on the way out, but when we turned around at the 2 mile mark it felt much better. We didn't get our 3 mile time but we finished overall at 28:44. We all ran a 20 minute cool down on the trail back to the park, then I did a barefoot loop with Lexie to get a full 8. After I iced to my hips for 15 minutes while singing Pitch Perfect songs with Emily and Katie. Everybody loves us. #WolverineWay

This morning we met at the WAC early so we could drive out to Firebreaker and start by 7. The first part of the trail was hard because it went up and down and rollercoasted a lot. I ran with Mikesell for the first 2 miles but she turned early, so I ran with Aisha and Genevieve until we had to turn and head back. On the way back Coach Evans stopped us to tell us how to fix our arms. It's pretty much the opposite of what I learned in high school, and it's really helped me with my hills a ton. Afterwards we had a Wolverine meeting with all the other athletes so I didn't ice. Thank goodness the freshmen meeting was cancelled. #WolverineWay

This morning we did our speed workout. 8 x 1000. We ran up to the park which was 2 miles away, then I changed into my flats. I can't remember any of my times, but my fastest was 4:11, most of them were around 4:20, some a little over. My legs are still pretty sore from the other day. I ran the first 5 1000s with my flats on, and my last 3 I joined the barefoot crusade and it felt amazing. Afterwards we ran back down to the WAC for ice baths. #WolverineWay

For lifting today we did 1 minute long planks, front, left, right, and back. Then we did the same workout as last week, with the leg raises, calf raises, pull ups, and inverted rows. Then I had to go talk to Spencer because my name was on some list, and turns out I have to do a concussion test in order to be able to do Steeplechase. Reminded me of that time Kiley got a concussion while Steeplechasing... Ow. #WolverineWay
