Continue running as often as I can, as far as I can, as fast as I can. Teaching my kids (by example) the rewards that come from putting in the work. Very slowly get to 50 states.

I'm married, with two sons, 18, and 19.

I started running because someone dared me to.

I ran my first race 3 days after my 40th birthday. (Disney)

3.5 miles. Hood route. 6am start. Easy. My home AC Died last night. It has been a long time coming. I know AC problems in December aren't a big deal to most people on this blog. It's a big deal to floridians. Anyhow, this not so surprising, but yet surprising expense pretty much kills the Jackson MS race in January.

What a great run. 10.2 miles. Hood route to Legacy trail to colonia and back. 6:30 am start. I don't know why i timed this run, but I'm glad I did. First half: 5.1 miles. 42:25. 8:19 pace. Second half: 5.1 miles. 39:21. 7:43 pace. All in: 10.2 miles. 1:21:46. 8:01 pace. Neg. Splits are few and far between for me, so this is exciting. Great weather today. I think I'm going to get back to where I'm timing all my runs. I just run better, when I know it's timed.

10.2 miles. Hood route to Legacy trail to colonia and back. 7 am start. A bit chilly this morning. Good thing I got my AC fixed this week! Anyhow, another good Saturday run. 42:45 on the first half for 8:23 pace. 40:20 o. The second half for 7:55 pace. 1:23:05 overall for 8:09 pace. So, a bit slower than last week. But, given how inconsistent my running is, plus the 2 weeks in a row of neg. Splits, this is fairly exciting stuff.

7.5 miles. Hood route to Legacy trail and back. 7:15 am start. 1:07:00. 8:56 pace. It didn't feel not awful until mile 4. Yikes! I really think i need to time all of my runs. 2 ish years of untimed runs is not smart. So, I'll be reporting the good the bad and the ugly for a while, anyways.

after finishing up with the Christmas stuff yesterday, i took the boys skimboarding dor a couple of hours. It's been a while. That was fun.

Drove back from Orlando. Then I wanted to run. And since it was 85 degrees outside (say what?!) I decided to experiment with a bit of barefoot running. I took the kids to the soccer field. I did 2 miles warm up. Then 8 x 110ish yards fast, jog back. Then 2 miles easy. This is, by far, the longest barefoot run i have ever done. I think it went well. Then me and the boys went swimming.
