Favorite Running Quotes:

1.

"Sooner or later the serious runner goes through a special, very personal experience that is unknown to most people.

Some call it euphoria. Others say it's a new kind of mystical experience that propels you into a elevated state of consciousness, a flash of joy.

A sense of floating as you run. This experience is unique to each of us, but when it happens, you break through a barrier that separates you from casual runners. Forever. And from that point on, there is no finish line. You run for your life. You begin to be addicted to what running gives you."

~Nike Poster

2.           A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

Lao-Tzu

You’ve no doubt heard this.  And you’ve probably recited it in your mind on a run or at the gym when you’re just beginning to get in shape.  You have a goal in sight and this quote brings you back to the current moment.

But the problem is that many runners forget all of the steps between the first one and the goal.  If your goal is to run under two hours for the half marathon then you need to be honest about all of the little steps to get to that goal.

…and what I’d rather see you do is to get the goal out of mind completely, but rather focus on the process, not the outcome. -Jay Johnson Process orientation, not outcome orientation.

You should have goals, but you should take it one step at a time.  And you should be honest about the fact that you don’t know how many steps it will take to get there. ~ Vernon Gambetta

3.  Human beings are made up of flesh, blood and a miracle fiber called COURAGE! ~ George Patton

4.   Find the courage to be patient.

No workouts for me.  I guess, I just really want to get better and am doing nothing to aggravate my ankle.

It stinks being a lazy bum......It does feel better (but maybe it is just being in a boot). 3 more weeks till my next appointment (hopefully to get clearance to start back).

I've been trying to make some running goals for next year and want to know what is your favorite marathon in the US (can definitely be outside of Utah).

I need to have something bigger to look forward to - having nothing to look forward to is driving me bonkers.

I've maybe been thinking Big Sur?

I just caught up with your happenings. LOVE the dresses you made for your sweet little girls. SO SO SO SO SORRY to hear about the 2 stress fractures in your ankle. Really stinks!!! I just love your positive attitude. It is going to serve you well in all areas of your life especially when faced with challenges. Here's to a speedy and full recovery.

I have only run two marathons outside of UtaH: Boston is my absolute favorite and Hoover Dam in NV which is within drivable distance in late Fall. It's an up and down course with great scenary. It's a small race, very personable RD, a fun vaca-rathon of sort and you can easily win your AG.

I have run the Utah Grand Slam for 3 years and doing it again this year starting with Ogden, UVM, Park City and St. George. I may run DNews, TOU as well. I am eyeing the Pocatello Marathon, Valley of Fire. Anyway, I don't run on Sunday which limits the ones to choose from. I am going to check out the Sat. marathons in California and Texas for the winter months. GOOD LUCK and hope you find THE ONE to look forward and train for!

I've only run the Ogden marathon, but it was great. I don't have any recommendation beyond that.

I know you're struggling with not be able to run and you feel lazy. Hang in there. You'll be better soon.

In Utah, St George is by far my favorite (but I have only done Ogden and TOU).

I think we should all go run the Pocatello Idaho marathon----girls weekend AWAY!

I have only done St. George..haha. I need to get out there and live a little. I kind of hope I don't get selected for the St. George Lottery. Then I will have to pick a different one..hehe.

Kelli...Oooh..count me in for that one..when is Pocatello...I should check it out online. :)

It is kind of close to St George, but we could call it a long run and just have fun!!!

I've also heard Pocatello is amazing! Probably from Kelli :) If y'all do it I think I want in - I'll be the sweeper of the group!
