So I want to cry...sometimes, I feel like I am falling apart!  I've NEVER had an injury until I got my ankle stress fracture a year ago.  Now, I feel like something is always wrong!  I think I may be shin splints right above my ankle (on the inside).  I've been icing like a mad woman, massaging, doing my ankle strengthening exercises.  *sigh*  

 I did feel really good on my run today, but I probably shouldn't have done it (in retrospect).  I was doing so great on my ankle...I haven't increased my mileage more than 10 % a week, I've kept all my runs slower and I take 2 days off.  Why...Why...Why

If it is shin splints it is from changing surfaces - road to TM or vice versa. I get them all the time! They hurt like buggers, but usually ease up through the run. They can cause SF along the shin though, so don't push through them if the pain is too bad. I like to stretch mine out by kneeling down with my toes pointed then sit back on your heels. This hurts like a mother for me! Icing will help now and stability exercises will help to not get them in the future. Good luck! Oh, I've also found that compression sleeves help a ton too!

Rachel...you are always have great doctorly advice! I'm just ready to run and not be bothered by injuries! How long do they take to go away?

honestly, mine kind of stick around for a while. I guess you just get used to them. If I rest them though they will usually ease up enough that I'm not constantly thinking about them. If the pain goes away during the run (after a short warm up) I wouldn't be too worried and for me I would run on them, but if it continues throughout the run then I'd rest and x-train. I'd try it out Saturday and see how you feel, you're doing everything right - but as we know healing is completely up to each individual body :(

CRAP! That just stinks. Hopefully it isn't anything serious. I would rest for a few days and see if it helps or maybe hit the pool for a swim or go for a nice rise on the bike.
