I played the BEST April Fool's joke on my family.  We announced that we were having another baby (IF we have another baby, it's gonna be awhile - A LONG WHILE) via email.  Everyone fell for it hook line and sinker!  It was awesome!  (Just to re-clarify, we are NOT PREGNANT)!!!

 It's been a hard week for me.  After going to the doctor last week and being told I need to let my ankle heal for a few more weeks, I totally felt depressed and lacked motivation.  Plus all this crummy weather and barfing kids haven't helped.

I did go to spin class this morning and felt great!  I am even sore (I love that feeling).  I really loved the teacher and she had great music.  Some girl walked in 30 minutes after the class started (the class was completely full) and asked the instructor if she could use her bike.  Urgh....  Then she was hardly biking.  Gently peddling!  I thought to myself, "Who do you think you are"?  She really bugged!

 The St George Marathon registration just opened and I had planned on running it.  This would be my first marathon.  But I am still undecided.  It seems like the past 2 races I've registered for I haven't been able to run due to the stress fracture.  I feel like I am jinxing myself. 

So I guess I am looking for some advice.  I know I can be completely ready to run Hobble Creek 1/2 marathon and Provo 1/2, but I am worried that I can't be ready (really ready) for St. George.  Any advice?

Sorry to be a whiner tonight - too much Easter candy.

So sorry you've had a tough week! This is the perfect place to vent. I have to laugh at your April's Fool joke though!

I say sign up for St. George. Most marathon training schedule is 18 weeks. We're 26 weeks away from SGM. Hopefully your stress fracture will be fully healed by the end of May. If you're ready to run Provo and Hobble Creek, then you're ready to run SGM. Those two halfs are perfect tune-up races for SGM. That's my 2 cents.

SGM is a lottery, so if you get an entry it must be karma/luck - and do it! If not, maybe next year will be better? :)

Nice April Fool's joke! I didn't get a good one in this year. Meh, if you don't do on April fool's it might be better!

Nice job on the spin class! Oh, and did the girl by chance have a book out that she was reading the WHOLE time during class?? If so she's probably the same one I complained about - sounds similar!

I don't think you should worry about jinxing yourself just by signing up for a race. You just have to accept the fact that in every marathon you sign up for, there is a chance you will get injured and not be able to run it. I've only actually raced 50% of the marathons I've signed up for because of injury. Its just the reality of running a lot of miles. If you want to wait and sign up closer to the race, you could do TOU which I don't think usually sells out or if it does, its only weeks before the race.

Personally I would pass on St. George this year and give that fracture plenty of time to heal. Listen to your doctor, he/she went to med school for a reason :)

There are plenty of other marathons that you can give yourself time to fully prepare for. Think of your long term goals and ask yourself honestly if not letting your fracture heal fully is really worth it.

While you're always taking a chance when you register for a marathon because you've always got a chance of getting injured, I don't think I would register for a marathon when already injured, hoping to be better. So I would skip St. George. But that's just me.
